Title: New Topics?
Post by: alice44 on October 25, 2019, 10:02:07 am

Does it seem to anyone else that there are fewer "off Topics" than there use to be?

I don't know whether there are fewer topics overall, but i sometimes get the perception that there are fewer topics that I am motivated to respond to. Here it is 25th of the month and I am just now at or close to my 30 posts for the month. I used to be able to knock those out when the date month was still in single digits or just rolled over to doubles.

I agree with UGetPaid!  Try as I may, some topics I just have no desire for putting in my two cents worth. That leaves fewer topics from which to respond.  Wouldn't it be cool if every person here started a new topic every week or so? I think the "Off-Topic" section is a great way for all of us to get to know each other a little better.  That personal contact helps encourage the feeling of community.  I guess some people could care less, but I, myself, like the feeling of being in the FC family.

I agree also some of the topics don’t interest me or I don’t know anything about what they’re talking about

I get what your saying. Some topics I find difficult to really respond too.

Yeah...pretty much this though I still think about making a post.

Probably a good thing. It seems like when there is a bunch of new topics it's really just the same thing over and over. No need for the same people to keep creating the same topics.

I would like to see more different topics. Yet I have not done any in awhile myself.

Yeah a lot are on topics I don't know about or have anything worth contributing, and some just devolve into fights that I don't want to get involved in.

I think it is easier to tag onto or respond to someone else's post but will try to start a new topic.  Sometimes that is a little hard.

You can always do the old "It's National _____ Day!"

I think that it is a combination of all of the above. There seem to be fewer new topics and fewer topics that I wish to respond to. Some topics seem geared towards provoking the ire of viewers and I usually avoid those or try to determine how off balance the arguments are. Even the most innocent and obscure posts seem to turn into a religious or political battle. Sometimes I respond to these anger mongering messages by talking about how beautiful the weather is or some equally innocuous line of chatter. Rarely does it change the course of heat but I can feel good that I did not contribute. Some times I will interject with facts gathered from reputable sources which is somewhat rare in this day and age where people seem intent on throwing out conjecture and perceived subjective opinion. Thanks for the neutral topic!

I believe you can learn a lot about a person by following his/her posts, especially after having read them over and over for years.  You get a good feel about personality and desire to concentrate on the positive aspects of life!

I've been noticing that very thing for the past two months or so...  I never have started a thread in all the years I have been on FC, so I really can't complain about there not being enough, I am part of the lack of thread/subject problem, I guess.   Thanks to all those who do post, I appreciate you :)

I agree, there very little to post about unless you're like me and follow the news, day in history and "National Blank_____Day!  (This is s wild card topic for me and I use it a lot!)  Also the recalls interest me, because I find I've bought the product at one time or another without a second thought.  So now I think twice about buying these products at least.

I have never thought about it.  Not interested in knowing.  So much has changed since I registered in FC and not all good.

I've definitely noticed this! I'm glad it's not just me. I feel like there used to be a lot more topics when I first started FC. Maybe a lot of people left FC or the forum? Hopefully it'll get better again.

Some months I seem to be able to think of topics and start a new thread and others I just seem to draw a blank.  This is especially so when I've now been on Fusion more than 4 years, I believe.  Actually, some months it is all I can do to respond.  I guess I shouldn't complain much as I always seem to get my 30 posts completed by about the 10th of every month.  However, sometimes it is difficult to be motivated!
