Was feeding the birds and my cats couldn't take their eyes off them So next day looked outside and saw the killings my cats had done. I suppose they were hungry the birds that is so they ate the bread. Now wont feed the birds liked watching them theyn still come around looking for bread. I suppose they get food somewhere else

Should never feed birds with cats around that are taking an interest in your feathered friends. All cats love to hunt it's in their genes. Used to have an indoor cat would look outside at birds and meow at them kinda knew what she was meowing about she wanted to hunt the thing and she couldn't. You do make birds into targets if you feed them in front of any cat that is too curious about them

My cats kill mice, but never birds.
-
I use to feed the birds, always did it in a clear spot where the cats could not hide.
-
Not a huge fan of cats....

First, cats do and will kill mice, birds, etc it's what they do. Second keep your cats inside, cats should be indoor akways, just saying. I know that response will set off a bunch of negative replies but I feel strongly they should be indoor only.

Not all cats are insiders. I have ferals--not that I wanted them. grandma adopted me-- and they will never be an inside cat. I've tried. I can only get near 3 of them and a 4th one if it's in a good mood. I'd love to have them inside in the winter but I have an area set up outside for them for the cold weather. Shelters won't help find them homes so I'm stuck with them. Cats are hunters. It's in their blood. I've only got 2 that really kill; a black cat and the mom. Black cat will go after blue jays because they steal the cat food, moles, mice, and chipmunks.I'm hot happy about it but it's part of the "ecosystem."

I do understand there are feral cats, but she was talking about her cats. I believe if you own a cat it should be kept inside.

Cats are doing what nature has made them to do. Watch the animal channel.
-
It's just nature's instict. Forgive the killer cats!

Some animals go for the bread while other animals go for the meat.
What I do not understand is why the carnivorous (meat eaters)
do not go for the breads instead.
