so we went from two pets to 5: 2 cats,2 guinea pigs and a hamster. So my question is what in the world do you do you do for a cat in heat she walks around meowing like she is dying, driving me nuts.
-
I heard somewhere that a warm wet towel for her to sit on can be calming Or playing can distract her for awhile. Just don't let her go outside unless you want to add to your family of pets.
-
Keep her inside until she can get fixed! Maybe a shelter can help.
-
so she has finally stopped walking around meowing ,i was just wandering anyone know how often cats go in heat
-
I have always had mine fixed as kittens, I have never had a cat go in heat.
-
If they are not fixed they go in heat every 1 to 6 weeks.
-
The best thing to do is to get her fixed otherwise she is going to drive you crazy. That is the full proof way to stop all that noise that she is making.
-
If she stopped meowing she's probably out of heat. Get her fixed ASAP. Besides going into best about twice a year, not getting her fixed can cause cancer. If you can't afford to have her fixed at your vet, I would think there are low cost neutering clinics around you. Check with a rescue group I'm sure they can help you. Please get her fixed.

The estrous cycle generally ranges from 1 to 6 weeks, with 2 or 3 weeks being the average. Get her spayed ASAP!
-
you probably should find out from a vets how soon you can get her fixed now.
-
costs more to fix when in heat. the first spring we had her she was driving me nuts with the meowing. had her fixed and been quite ever since.
-
i plan on getting her fixed but have to wait just a while supposed to start a new job that pays better right now im barely making it
-
definitely try to keep her inside until afterwards...call a shelter to see about getting her fixed...we had a stray kitten show up..about 2 months old..got her fixed...
-
I found a local thrift store who is a main sponsor for aspca said they would help
-
I had a female go into heat once and got her fixed. It was miserable!!!!!! The male isn't much better. Constantly roaming around looking for a way to get out. He's getting fixed, soon, too!

3 cats: Oreo, Robin, and Sharpie.

Get her spayed. And yes, they WILL do it while she is in heat. They did mine. It was the first female I had ever had. And when she went in to heat I thought she was dying. I had never experienced anything like that. She would come thru the house meowing crazy and flop down in the floor. I don't remember how long after but it was soon, I took her to the vet and got her spayed.

So cats can be in heat every week? When I googled it - it said it is seasonal and more like twice a year. ??
-
Maybe their behavior is based on their anticipation of when they get to heaven what it will be like.

Dogs only go into heat twice a year.
Cats are seasonally polyestrous, which means they have multiple heat cycles during their breeding season. They need 12 hours of sunlight for a normal heat cycle, so generally their season is spring through fall. If they don't get pregnant or spayed, the heat cycle repeats over and over. It's less likely to happen every week, but it's possible. Generally it's every 2 or 3 weeks. Then in the late fall through winter, they go through an inactive period (anestrous). It is possible for cats living in warmer climates and indoor cats (because of artificial light) to go into heat year round.

Try to keep her inside, I have never had a female cat in heat but I had a friend whos cat would go crazy in heat.
-
so i still haven`t been able to get them fixed and they are walking around meowing loudly rubbing on everything with but in air cant wait until i go back to work full time so i can get them fixed they are driving me mad every two weeks
-
I am not a fan of animals. Do not have a pet.
-
See if a shelter can help you get her fixed and in meantime keep her inside.
-
Give your cat something warm to sit on, a warm, wet towel or a electric heating pad. Play with your cat, it'll distract her temporarily. Petting, scratching or brushing her lower back can be more effective.

No idea...there's always neighbor's cats acting like that at night outside our house.
They scream like something's attacking them and then after they wake us up, they disappear into the night.

Our precious pup, Tommy, passed away five years ago. We had him for 13 1/2 years. We decided to be pet-free and enjoy our grandpups. It is so hard to travel when you have pets.

you know 1imaginary girl i wander if that is why my cats are always in the windows, in the morning facing front of house in the evening facing the back of the house they push everything out of the window sills to get in their and lay down

http://www.petsandanimals.org/spayneuter_services.html
Below are programs that provide low cost or free spay/neutering, listed by state. Some programs work only with pets of people with low incomes. Some do not consider income but serve only pet cats -- or only feral (untame) cats. But other programs serve all kinds of dogs and cats. We believe the listing details below are correct at this writing, but call the program to be sure.
A Free Spay and Neuter program is the only key solution to reduce the number of unwanted animals needlessly killed and born into a society that does not care. We should stop killing and help pass a Free Spay and Neuter program. By offering Free Spay and Neuter assistance to the general public this program can be achieved.
If you know about other low cost or free spay and neuter programs or if you have updates to our listings, please Email us.
If you don't find a service listed for your area, don't give up. First, call the offices of Spay/USA and of Friends of Animals (see Nationwide below). They have information about discount spay/neuter services in many towns across the country.
