When I clean my cats litter box, I use a mask and a hair scarf so the smell won't seep into my hair and I don't inhale the waste. To those who have cats, you know what I mean. I want just one more cat but I think about all the work that goes into it. Their faces are so cute, I'm tempted. There is a machine, not sure of the name that changes it for you. Does anyone know the name? I know it costs a lot. :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat:

No, I don't know what you mean. I would never wear a mask to clean out the litter box. The "thing that changes it for you" does not change it for you. It rakes the litter and moves the waste to a lower level. YOU still have to clean it out. I know what you are talking about but not what it is called. I don't think you would like it any better. Maybe you should try the clumping litter.

Why does your litter box smell so bad that you have to wear a mask and scarf? How often do you scoop it? It sounds like you may need to do it more often.
My cat's litter box is in the bathroom. Every time I go in there, I scoop if I can see she has used it, probably 4 or 5 times a day at least. She's finicky, so I have to keep on top of it or she will use the bathroom rug instead. :P
I've never used an automatic litter box. I had thought about getting one in the past, but you still have to empty it out and clean it. So to me, it seems like more hassle than a regular box.

As soon as I clean my cats litter box she has to go in and "mark" it again (sometimes she can't even wait until I'm done)LOL. So I think one of those self cleaning ones would drive her nuts. I've never worn a mask or a scarf, It's not my favorite job but I usually scoop once a day unless real stinky. :cat:

Hey!! I have cat allergies and cat urine is too much for me to handle so, I wear a face mask and I do use clumping litter.

Their use to be one that attached to water and sewer, that used the water to clean the box. Can not remember the name of it and it real cleaned it the you had to replace the litter material once a year.

Over the years of owning a cat or more (only one at a time), they never wanted to use a litter box. My most domesticated cat would want out, go, and come back in afterwards. Must have been crossed with a dog. :D I still have a litter box filled with clean litter but no cats except the ferals outside. I may take it outside when the snow flies so they have some place to go. Why waste the full bag of litter?
-
I only have one cat, and the reason for that is the litter box, LOL! It's enough for me to keep up with one cat's litter box. I really can't imagine having to deal with one shared litter box or two litter boxes. I would love to have one of those automatic -cleaning litter boxes you were talking about. But knowing my cat, the machine would go on and scare him to death! :cat: :peace:

it is messy, but cats are so adorable and good mousers too.

We have two cats that are about 18 years old at least. The deal was my sons wanted them and they were supposed to take care of them. Now the youngest son is moved out and the oldest has to have his life threatened to do the cats stuff but I am not going to do the litter. I feed them but that is it. I hold my ground on the litter box.

You are allergic to cats and you have cats??? Google self cleaning litter box and you should find what you are looking for. I have seen them before but I have no idea what they are called exactly. I am sure Amazon would have them.

Exactly why I prefer a dog that can bark when it wants out.
-
Cool, I like cats!!! :D

I use the clumping litter and I clean it at least every other day. If I don't keep it clean, my cat will not use it and then I have to clean it up somewhere else.
-
As you know I rescue pets, I have 5 dogs and several (not giving amount) cats. I have 8 litter boxes and scoop the litter 4 - 5 times a day, use clumping litter, and once a week I empty all boxes, wash and spray with Natures Miracle. I don't have the urine smell you are talking about. Do you ever empty the litter and clean the box? I don't understand how it can be so bad with 1 cat, but I do thank you for keeping your baby inside.

I don't use a mask or anything to scoop the litter. My granddaughter is a snowflake about the cat box and she'll want gloves and everything. I don't think it's a big deal. Just scoop it out and be done with it, especially with clumping litter.

I use a mask because I have allergies really bad and I can't take the urine smell.
-
I just go in and clean the litter without a hassle.

The one thing that I don't miss about having cats is having to clean the litter box out. The smell is pretty bad to say the least. :-X

the Litter-Robot—the automatic, self-cleaning litter box is very expensive, and is selling for over $500. I think you should search for coupons and purchase during Black Friday or cyber monday deals...
-
I don't have a litter box in the house anymore. It left when the last child moved out (got married).
I don't miss the box. Every once in awhile, I do miss the cat though.
-
I don't currently have cats but I used to always manually clean their litter-box.
-
Litter boxes are one of the reasons I don't have a cat.

I have one of those automatic boxes that scoops the cat stuff in a bin in the back and i empty it every day so lil or no mess. Great for th ose who do not want to touch the stuff
