Title: samplicio.us took too long to respond 404 error

12/3  Again it's not connecting!  no error message though, just going round and round never connecting!

Fixed!!  8)  2p  12/2


Getting this error across the sites I use, anyone else?

I have seen the 404 error many times.  Not sure what it means.  I did google it but do not remember what it says.

I have had messages like this as well. The site you are trying to access could be down. There could be too many persons on the site. It could be bad weather somewhere. It could be any number of reasons but probably everything will be ok if you try another time.

Here is what the 504 error means:

The 504 Gateway Timeout error is an HTTP status code that means that one server did not receive a timely response from another server that it was accessing while attempting to load the web page or fill another request by the browser.

It may be occurring for a variety of reasons as has been mentioned in this thread.  My takeaway is that the reason for the error code is that the server is overwhelmed by requests.  Another common reason is that it may have maintenance being performed on it.  So, just trying it later is the usual option.
