Where are you getting yours? I saw some on etsy. Looks like they average around $9. Some are offering free shipping. I want to order some today. Does anyone have one? I'm not crafty and don't have a sewing machine.
-
I made one. There are tutorials on youtube. And you can make with any piece of material or bandana and a couple hair bands or even rubber bands. Most people have the stuff on hand to make them. You don't need a sewing machine. Search YouTube for no sew face mask. I have not been any where. The last time I was out I saw a woman with a wash cloth tied around her face so I guess there is always a way to do it.

I got everyone in my family one off of Etsy. The different models seem to be about the same. I don't sew either, and the DIY ones I tried were tough for me to put together and didn't stay together very well. Probably an operator error, LOL! Anyway, I bought some off of Etsy and they're very nice and seem to work just fine. Good luck in your search! :peace:

I purchased some from City Threads dot com -- they're cotton. $8.50 after the 15% off coupon.
I also purchased some from Nine Line, which is a Veteran Owned apparel company who is selling them at cost because his mother is a nurse & his father has cancer so he is just fulfilling a need.
10 for $9.50

I Googled homemade Face Masks and watched a LOT of "how to" sew face masks for my family.
I settled on the Olson Mask. The Olson, named after 1930's legendary maker nurse Lyla Mae Olson, was quickly developed by clinicians from UnityPoint Health hospital. This pattern has a filter pocket which I liked. They are washable
https://youtu.be/ZnVk12sFRkY
The hospital asked the public to sew the masks for them. **The hospital will provide the filter, double-sided tape and hair bands and assemble here after masks are dropped off.** Fabric masks offer the benefit of being able to be washed and re-used as each healthcare worker will need to change their mask several times during their shifts, as the mask becomes soiled or damp – for maximum protection.
I made some alterations since my husband thought the elastic ear bands made the mask too tight on his ears and too uncomfortable. I used cording that I had on hand as ties so we tie our masks on our heads instead of using elastics around our ears.
Over the weekend, I sewed 26 masks for myself and my family. I work in a group home 3 - 4 days per week, so I made myself 5 masks so I can wear a different one each day. I plan to wash them as I go and then let it "sit" for 3 days between wearings.

I saw a lot of videos for handmade ones even one made from a sock. Check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hRDkZhEBFU
I ordered some from this site https://our-personal-face-mask.myshopify.com/
It was $4.99. Shipping was $6.99 I got two so it comes out to a little over $8 each. I want to get at least two more. I'll check out the sites some others posted.

My grandma made us some from pieces of an old pillowcase. But I'm sure you could tie any piece of cloth around your head or maybe even wrap a scarf around your face.

I don't have any masks but I don't go out and very little contact with anyone. I do sew so if this continues and I need to be out I guess I'll have to make some
-
I'm part of a group that sews/makes them and delivers them to people...
-
I have a lot of scarves in storage. Have one here though that I wash and wear a lot.
-

You can get them from Amazon.
-
I have washable masks that I rotate,, wear one, then another one,, wash them two and wear the 3rd one while the others is being washed and dried. A friend made them for me. I don't go out much so that helps me a lot

My husband and I ordered some on ebay a few weeks ago. I also have some disposable ones. My husband had one in his pocket that I did not know about and it did get washed in the washing machine. It held up though.

I went to that website. It is just a thin stretchy material & most likely won't help anything at all. But thanks for sharing! :)

There are a few out there on you tube that you don't have to sew. However, fabric glue will work just as well as a sewing machine.
-
My daughter in love and her niece was making mask for everyone and for first line workers.
-
You can order a free mask here by looking up Dhvani....free mask for every American......not sure how long it will take to arrive though
-
My friend made on for me. It is cute but i am afraid it will come apart in the wash. So i spay it with lysol.
There was a local company making masks out of denim fabric. For every one bought they would donate on the healthcare workers. So I bought 2. They are really cute and washable! :rose: :rainbow: :peace:
-
I heard a lot about them as friends in China said that they are more sustainable and could last longer. I am going to order some to give it a try. I also saw alternatives which are washable on the outside and have a pouch for changing filters.

The City Threads masks are thick & double cotton. Very nice.
The Nine Line ones - I just received my order of these & they are in fact VERY thin... I wear them in the morning to run as I can easily breathe through them, as for protection I believe they'll decrease viral load somewhat - 50% with single layer cotton, but not the best for that definitely. Perhaps if someone puts a coffee filter between two or something like that, if they're desperate for a mask. I would not recommend these.
Thankfully, I ordered other masks from other companies that are surgical grade that also have come in :)
On a side note: DISNEY, just today, made available a whole bunch of Disney themed masks that are super cute, I just preordered a bunch... $19.99 for 4 & all proceeds go to charity.

I've bought a few on etsy, and my fiancé is making me one. I know they're not as effective as an N95 mask, but it's better than nothing.
-
I volunteer at a soup kitchen and another volunteer made us washable masks. They a pouch where a coffee filter can be inserted and changed out as needed. I also made some disposable ones out of paper towels and vacuum cleaner bags with ponytail clips to go around the ears.
-
I purchased some masks, but I am going to make my own. Something with color so that I don't get too stressed out wearing a mask.
-
I had a couple of masks stowed away with my stuff that had been purchased a few years back (used for allergy protection in the spring when doing yardwork). They had never been worn so I'm good to go. However, I like a lot of the homemade ones you see popping up everywhere now. 😷
-
Mostly from online retailers like amazon and ebay though be wary as some can be badly made.
-
One of my neighbors is making masks daily and putting them in a box outside her home for whoever needs one to take one. No cost. If you feel like paying she will accept a donation to buy more supplies so she can make more masks. I love seeing people who are trying to help just because they can and want to.

I bought a few from etsy, I got them from 2 different vendors and I made sure that I got the ones that have a pocket to add filter to it, they sell the filters too, but you can always add a coffee filter to them. One vendor makes them to look like to ones on the hospital, the other vendor makes them from T-Shirts materials and also have a pocket for filters, I like the T-shirts better and found some good HEPA filters on sale at etsy too and bought them.
I made one from a bandanna that I saw on YouTube but did not feel comfortable with it so I invested on the masks, I also found for children and bought those for my grandbabies.

My son's girlfriend brought me 2 masks to wear but they were too large so I gave them back. We have a bunch of masks that hubby bought when he was in the autobody business. So we wear those when necessary. We really don't go anywhere, especially me, so these will do just fine. I had to wear one at my doctor appointment and they never said they weren't good enough.

Those masks are not going to protect you from any thing. Actually none of them will. They have said repeatedly that the mask will not keep you from getting sick. It just keeps you from spreading YOUR illness. So if YOU are not sick you do not need to wear a mask. People can do what ever they want to. It is actually entertaining to see some of the things people are using for masks. lol

I've used scarves and today some lady on the street corner was selling the paper thin ones for !.00 each so I bought 5.
-
It seems like there is so many people starting to sell them, you should be able to get them online...
-
Check online, there are ways to make masks without a sewing machine.
-
Mind was made by my daughter in law
-
Some people are using bandanas and fine handkerchiefs
instead of facial masks.
-
I made the ones we have, from a tee shirt it made 14 mask, I wash and iron them every time we wear them.
When we come out of a store we put them in a plastic container to be washed with Lysol or bleach.
-
I bought 5 on Etsy.
-
I made some myself. So many people aren't aware that they should wash the facial mask everyday.
-
I wear scarves and masks. Still very worried about this pandemic.
-
The regular mask will do for me. They work just fine...
-
I've seen those disposable blue face masks readily available for purchase, last week -- in Sam's Club for 50/$25 and at the 99 cent only store for 10/$4 -- so it's easier to wear hygienic masks now :)
Still no disposable gloves, no Lysol, no clorex wipes though.
-
I wear light weight washable masks.
I paid only $4.00 for each one and
and they are maid in China. I think
the USA should make more of these
instead of disposable ones.
-
If you are washing your mask I hope you are not drying it.. because honestly alot of people are drying them and they are either breaking or becoming to loose.. So I hope you aren't drying.. because if you are that's what possible could happen.. I wash my masks all the time.. but i refuse to dry them I let them air dry. :P
-
The masks are everywhere now, selling like dime a dozen...

The problems are you can't tell which ones are not any good and only give you a false sense of security or how many are not worth the money they ask for.
-
I got the material had my brothers friend make them was charged 5 dollars each fair enough also bought some animal face masks off themountain for 5 dollars each plus shipping
-
I have seen a lot of people that make them locally in my town.
-
My neighbor sews a bunch of masks, so we can get them from her. They work really well and the can be washed.

How do you know if they are working well unless you have them tested by a trusted laboratory?
-
Etsy has plenty of cute masks. I've bought about 7 from there.
-
Someone gave me some where a filter can be inserted and I made a few. I also have some disposable ones for the car just in case I leave home without them.
-
My son-in-law's mother sews so she made all of a mask from scrap material that she had. She had thought at one time that she would make some to sell, but I don't think she has.
-
A lot of people are making their own masks. I think that is great if you are making them tight enough to cover the mouth and nose.
