Over the years, I have been going to buffets from time to time but those day are over. My niece told me she saw a roach on the Golden Corral buffet and left that instant and never returned. I have eaten at Shoneys, Old Country Buffet, Golden Corral, and a restaurant called Crazy Buffet. They sell foods like Chinese , American and Mexican foods. Now that we have the Covid-19 I don't know if I'd ever eat at one again. I think I'll go for the table server.

What a bad experience! But fortunately, some restaurants have really good food inspectors and
will not allow that to happen. In Las Vegas, many casinos have excellent buffets. For a flat fee you can
eat all you want...and take some of your favorite foods home too if you bring some empty containers
with you.

I've always preferred table service over buffets. Not only do I tend to eat too much at a buffet, but you can't take your any leftovers home so I eat everything I can and leave stuffed. I'd much rather do table service and eat 1/2 my meal and take home the other half to enjoy tomorrow.

I strongly prefer having table service. I mean, the "all-you-can-eat" concept seems very nice in theory. But it makes you wonder how many other customers (who are not mandated to wear protective gear) have been around the same food you are eating (as opposed to the number of employees (who are mandated to wear protective gear) are around your food).

My grandmother would never eat at a buffet. She said she went to one once and little kids were going up to the food unsupervised and touching the food, etc. Plus, she said that the kids were shorter than the glass protectors and could sneeze and cough on the food. I used to tease her about her ultra-hygienic ways, but all these years later I can finally see where she's coming from! :peace:

Yeah I use to go just on occasion but I think the same way. I do not have a desire for them again or atleast for awhile.

You do know that until now employees were not "mandated to wear protective gear" lol - Right? The people fixing your food in the back do not wear gloves. And yes they wipe their nose with their hand, wipe sweat off their face with their hand, and go right back to fixing your food.
In the past I never really thought about buffets. Never thought about someone walking by the bar and getting food and putting on their plate. Most people are relatively clean. Never seen any dirty skank at a buffet bar. I have not ate out over a couple of times in the past 2 or so years. Has nothing to do with the "virus". I would just rather fix my food at home. And I have seen things from people in the back and made me realize I don't want that person touching my food. But you have no idea what goes on with your food in factories either. They have caught people peeing in food and every thing else.

i have never really liked buffets. They tend to be rather expensive and i don't eat that much at a given time.
Fortunately, i have been to a restaurant that had unsanitary conditions. :rainbow: :peace:

So gross. I've seen this at the self serve deli sections in grocery stores -- like in Whole Foods; And in those stores that have the bulk bins with candy -- so many people, especially kids touching & eating the candy. Yuck.

I loved buffets but I'm not going to any sit down restaurants until next year.

I love buffets and table servers. But I will wait until everything goes back to normal when the vaccine becomes widely available.

Are the self serve candy things not individual wrapped candy? We use to have that at Walmart (and you paid by weight) years ago. But I think they stopped it because people were stealing candy. They had a thing where you could take 3 pieces of candy and pay I think 5 cents. It had a place to deposit the 5 cents. I was a kid but I remember seeing people just take candy and walk on. Kind of like they do with the doughnuts at Walmart. Or did. I think that case has changed now as well. Anyway, if you are going to get freaked because some "person touched something I don't see how you buy anything at the stores. It amazes me at how people talk about others and calling them gross and nasty. But then again people probably think the same thing about the one saying it so there ya go.

I saw a mouse running along the wall once in a Chinese Resturant. Ive never seen anything like a roach before. Hopefully she called the company and told them!

I usually don't eat buffets. I don't like the idea of all those hands touching that area. I am also short so for me to reach something and keeping my head above the sneeze guard is impossible and I know that I am not the only short person in the world. So I would rather have a server.
