If you're going to get them cleaned anyway why bother? I thought about this as I was brushing my teeth before I went to the dentist. I always brush my teeth before an appointment anyway. It's like washing your hair before you go to the salon.
-
I always brush my teeth before going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. At least that way, the dental assistant doesn't have to dig food out from between the teeth in order to clean them. It's kind of like cleaning your house before the cleaning lady shows up.
-
I always brush my teeth and use mouthwash before going to the dentist. It’s like taking a shower before you go to the doctor.
-
I brush so they don't need to work on my teeth any longer than I want them and focus on the areas that really need work.

Exactly...I don't want them to do more work than they have to...or for them to tell me I'm not doing a good job....
-
Ha! Good question! I always brush extra well before a dental appointment because I'm trying to impress them with my good oral hygiene. I don't want them to think I have bad habits or don't care about my teeth.
-
I don't want to look in someones mouth with a bunch of food stuck in their teeth. I don't expect the dental people do either.
-
I don't. I brush my teeth in the morning and at night. I don't change because of a dentist appointment. Nor do I floss before hand.
-
I don't brush my teeth just because I am going to the Dentist. I brush my teeth everyday. Also who would go to the the Dentist without brushing. The stench from your breathe is probably awful.
-
I do it as i get up a hr before i head in. So its worth it.
-
Hmmmm... I never really thought about it, but I always do.
-
Pretend for a moment that you're the dentist. Would you want your patient to brush before they came in and you had to probe in their mouth?
Now, really; think about it. Some people have stinky poo breath. :P
:fish:
-
Well, mainly because I feel like the hygienist or the dentist doesn't want stinky breath or nasty food in my teeth. Plus, why have them poke around any more than they have to. :-\
-
I always brush my teeth before I go to the dentist and I'm sure they appreciate that. I never leave the house without brushing my teeth.
-
This question is really weird. You should brush your teeth every time you leave the house, moreover when you go to the dentist. No one wants to see someone's dirty teeth and smell bad breath. I go to Dr. Jeffrey Gross who works in one of the best dentistry in Lake County, Ohio (https://jeffreygrossdds.com/services/invisible-orthodontics-lake-county-ohio/) twice a year just for checking if everything is alright with my teeth. And I always brush my teeth before going to him. A year ago I had a teeth whitening and I was very happy with the result so I advised my dentist to my husband. He had crooked teeth and he decided to put on braces and since then his teeth look more beautiful and he has such a beautiful smile and I'm so proud of him.

First off i hate going to the dentist.
i made the mistake once of not brushing my teeth before going to the dentist. It hurt so much more and took longer because the hygienist had to get the food out then start cleaning the teeth. I have never done that since!
-
I was a dental hygienist for thirty years. I can 99.99% guarantee that the dentist or hygienist will appreciate your efforts if you brush before you visit them.
-
The same reason why you take your clothes off before you have sex.
-
I think it is good to brush your teeth before going to the dentist so they have a clean area to work with. I think it makes it easier to find issues like cavities. I also think it is a nice thing to do.
-
Because you need a fresh mouth for the dentist, it would be rude not to.
-
Human nature is a funny thing. I too brush, floss and use mouth wash before a dentist visit.
-
Some people have stinky poo breath. :P
LOL! Some people? Anyway, I would brush just to avoid any sort of embarrassment.
-
Very true. But it could also be uncomfortable for the patient if the Dentist has bad breath too.
I have experienced it.
-
Always brush my teeth before going to the dentist. I'd hate to go with dirty teeth that's gross.
-
It's just good hygiene anyway.
-
Be kind to your dental staff.
Bad breath is bad manners.
-
I do not want to go to the Dentist with food in my teeth or have bad breath. Have you ever noticed that Dentists have bad breath?
-
My dental hygienist usually has this shame thing going on. No matter how little work she has to do cleaning my teeth, she always makes critical comments. Love my dentist, though!
-
Let's put it this way: do you like sitting in the dentist's chair? The longer they have to clean your teeth, the longer you sit in that chair.
-
I always brushed my teeth as I don't want my dentist to see filthy teeth. I want my dentist to spend more time to see if there might be other issues rather than just clean them.
-
I brush my teeth the same as I always do. I don't brush only because I am going to the dentist.
-
Words of wisdom.....
Be true to your teeth
And they wont be false to you.
-
I always brush my teeth
-
I prefer I do it then them, so they can focus on the deep cleaning, etc.....plus, if they see dirty teeth they'll question you a lot as a patient...
-
I just had a tooth pulled and I brushed it before I went to the dentist, go figure LOL
-
After reading all your comments, I realized that none of my patients actually does this. Lol
-
I always brush my teeth before I go to the dentist because I want her to see that I do care for my teeth and also to have a fresh breath.
-
I always do too. I can't imagine not brushing them.
-
I always brush my teeth and use mouthwash before going to the dentist. I want my mouth to be as clean as it can be.
-
That is funny question ;D I is for bad breath dentist wont smell :rose:
-
I brush my teeth before going to the Dentist because I do not want bad breath for them to smell. I have come to realize that Dentists themselves have bad breath.

The irony is not lost on me.
