Am I scared?  No.

Should everyone be cautious and take care to keep it from spreading?  Most definitely.

Should you get the vaccine if you have an opportunity to, especially for free?  Yes.  If you don't, I'll call you an idiot.

I have a hard time believing that the swine flu is as potentially dangerous as the media is making it out to be.  Maybe to the people that live in third world countries it is a killer, but I believe most of us have little to worry about, with our vaccines, medical advances and just a general, more cleanly life style.

Or maybe i'm simply skeptic about it all because my uncle and 2 of my co-workers were diagnosed with it a few months back.  I'm sad to say that all 3 are now alive and well and back at work  :P

I'm not worried about catching it. I am getting the vaccination though because I have a very young child. I know this strain of flu is deadly to young children, people with low immune systems or diseases, and the elder.

The vaccines are no longer available to even those who are willing to pay for it. My employer just canceled our free shots because there's none to be had.

Am I scared of it? No. I'm healthy, so if I get it, I'll be ok. More and more people that I know are getting it. A little 6 year old girl who was dancing with a co-worker at a wedding reception fell dead the next day from it. It's nothing to take lightly.

Roughly 76 children (last time I looked) have died from swine flu related illnesses in the US.  Eleven children in the past two weeks alone. The seasonal flu kills, on average, 50 to 90 children in the entire six month flu season.   It's October and we have 76 already.  The flu season technically hasn't even started yet.

Nearly 5,000 people around the globe have been killed by swine flu related illnesses.  Almost 400,000 cases have been confirmed.  Again, it's not flu season yet.

The media exaggerates everything they get their hands on.  That doesn't mean this upcoming flu season is something to take lightly.  I really wish people would lose this mentality.

Am more scared of the vaccines that the actual flu itself lol.

There's absolutely nothing different from the H1N1 vaccine as compared to the seasonal flu vaccine.  It is merely a different strain of flu.

Swine Flu = another tactic used to scare and mislead the public like the avian flu. Swine Flu has nothing on the black plague.

It is already considered a pandemic.  It has nothing to do with how many people have died, it is based on the rate of spread.  And it is currently spreading extremely fast and at a time of year where it's not supposed to be spreading like this.  46 states are considered to have widespread flu activity.

My 8 year old granddaughter has it right now. She was at the docs Saturday and it was confirmed. Like he said, it's still just flu. Danger is them coming down with pnemonia from it so she has to be watched for signs. Out of school all this week.

The swine flu really isn't any more deadly than other flu types. It's publicity is more because of the target groups (young adults and children) instead of the elderly.

Two of my children have the swine flu, the only difference that I can see is that it's the flu with a hard cold (cough, runny nose, ect.) attached to it.  I just have to watch them more carefully, to make sure they are breathing correctly with no complications.  So far everything has been just fine..thankfully!  I think it's more harmful for people with asthma and other serious health issues.
:angel11:  Take care everyone!
