Title: Using That Dishwasher More
Post by: JaniceSW on September 06, 2020, 06:03:42 am
Here are 5 things you should always throw into your dishwasher (if you have one; I don't) if you have the space.

1.  The microwave turntable.  Put it in the bottom rack like it's a plate.

2.  The sink strainer.  Put it on the top rack after getting as much food out of holes as possible so it won't help clog your dishwasher filter.

3.  The dish drying rack.  This is meant for a plastic or metal one. Put it on the top rack and it can also help hold down plastic storage containers that could otherwise flip over.

4.  Your spoon rest. If dishwasher safe, add it to the top rack.

5.  A bowl of vinegar.  Vinegar in a dishwasher-safe bowl on the top rack can help combat hard water which can make your dishes look cloudy or dirty.

I use my dishwasher every week to keep my dishes clean. It is easier doing them than by hand.

These are good ideas. I haven't had a dishwasher in quite a few years. I am a firm believer, but I was living alone for a few years and thought it not necessary. I still see one in my future, however.  Great invention!

We use our dishwasher for storage :)have not used as a dishwasher since we bought our condo some years ago; just prefer to do the old fashion washing dishes by hands; I think also since  we are seniors just the two of us in house, we really don't  have a constant stack of dishes, pans etc. But it is nice to have; i do try and run it once a month just as a test to keep it functioning.

lol  When I had mine I tended to do that as well. I am pretty good lately at washing dishes as I use them.

I do not have that problem.
I have no kitchen...no cooking in my house!

Even when I have a dishwasher I automatically default to hand washing for some reason  :)
