Title: The forbidden list :)
Post by: destinyredd on November 06, 2007, 02:59:55 am
Register your home/cell phone # with the National Do Not Call Registry.
Telemarketers have to check this list, and they can face charges if they call you on any # you register.  :angel12:
It's free.  ;)

(www.)  donotcall.gov

I can retrieve/return any of their messages on PrivatePhone.  ;D

:angel11:  I hope your days and nights are peaceful.  :angel11:

I'm on it, but unfortunately, if you put your number on any of these survey things, they can call you. No matter how many lists you are on.

I've actually already done this, as well as entered my email on a similar do not spam list. They've helped a lot.  :D

do you know the site? I  was getting SO MUCH spam on my Email I had to make a new one. And if i sign back into the other one I'll probably overload yahoo with all of the crap that's probably in my spam folder. You would not BELIEVE how many spammers seemed to take offense at my email address, seeing as it wasn't

True, unless you tell them to add you to their do not call list. They have to remove your number(s)
and NOT call again once you DO tell them, even if you did allow them to call at first.

It's been so peaceful aroung here without all of those telemarketers. I can actually get online without having to get up every few minutes 'cause of the stupid phone.

YW and I hear ya!

I believe there are only a few that are allowed to call: non profit organizations etc. that may need help.
But shouldn't be stalking us anyways. ;)

yes that is right but that only lasts so long and also it's not instant.. so you may get more calls that day. and then they can start up again after so long.

Correct, it doesn't happen automatically.

Telemarketers have to look at the LIST. They know they can have a problem/fined if you report them.

They CAN call you UNTIL you tell them to put you on THEIR Do Not Call List.

After that: you can report them on the same list(s) agency(s)

Nothing is perfect, but if I didn't try it, my phone would really be ringing off the wall, as it was before.

Update your number's occasionally. It's not that hard.

WEll, nonprofit organizations I understand, but NO ONE should have to put up with "Answer our quick survey (that's NOT) and get a free cruise!"
No lie, I've gotten that three times a day before, and I looked up the area code, and it was some idiot in Pennsylvania with a voice recorder....LOL.
Anyone else ever gotten that before?

I recommend you get and use ccleaner every morning b4 doing anything online that involves crediting. All that crediting stuff will work better!

:( And this is the real problem...Some companies, once they get your name and address, they generate a list and they sell these lists in labels to the general public to make some profits. That is where all your junk mail is coming from!

I was stupid to use my real house phone number and it rang consistently for a few days (luckily nobody was home but there was over 66 missed calls in one day when I got back). I just use K7 phone number now.

Even though the National Do Not Call List works, some callers do not bother to look at the list before they make a call. I can choose to take legal actions against them but that would be far more too costly than just simply tell them to take me off their list.

I have never answered any strange numbers and I have never made the home number public in any way. So far the numbers are safe! But thanks a lot for the saying and it is always safe better than sorry!
