Title: Would you ever put a message in a bottle to throw into the ocean?
Post by: cateyes1 on July 06, 2021, 03:27:29 am: I did this years ago but I guess no-one found it. My daughter did put a note and her address on a balloon when she was little and a couple of years later she got a letter in the mail of the one who found it with some pictures. :)....does anyone have a story?

Full story is linked there, but the short version = a 10 year old girl launched a helium balloon with her name and address on it and it was eventually found 140 miles away by another 10 year old girl with the exact same name - Laura Buxton. They made contact and have become very close friends as a result of this coincidence.

It's a crazy enough story - it was mentioned during the third season of the TV show Fargo which was how I became aware of it.

Take my earlier advice....put some chlorine in the bottle first......

If you are worried about getting paid then dont do it and get the nickel deposit from the bottle.
