This actually came up when I rewatched The Lion King with my niece last weekend and suddenly realized how much of Hamlet is in there. I’d heard that before, but it really clicked this time — the exile, the ghost of the father, the revenge arc. It made me wonder how much of Shakespeare still echoes through what we watch and read today, even in stories that aren’t obviously “Shakespearean.” I’m thinking of digging into this for a project, maybe comparing some plays with modern films or books. Any idea how to frame that kind of analysis or what angles might be interesting to explore?

I think Family Dynamics is a great choice. Besides, you can check out basketball superstars (https://basketballsuperstars.io) which is awesome.

Oh, I totally get that! I had the same realization when I watched 10 Things I Hate About You and later found out it was based on The Taming of the Shrew. It’s wild how many modern films are secretly retellings of Shakespeare. One thing that helped me was checking out this post: https://www.customwritings.com/howtowrite/post/shakespeare-research-paper-topics/ (https://www.customwritings.com/howtowrite/post/shakespeare-research-paper-topics/). It gives you topic ideas and shows how Shakespeare’s themes — like identity, power, love, betrayal — get reimagined in all kinds of ways today. For my own paper, I compared Macbeth with Breaking Bad, looking at ambition and moral decay. So yeah, picking a theme and tracing it through different works could be a strong way to go.
