Someone recently asked me if I would rather be blind or mute.... this is difficult for me.... I love to talk, and I enjoy being able to see as well. If i had to choose I think I would select blind - at least then I could still communicate and talk :)
Which would you choose? Why?
Of course, fittingly after this Thanksgiving I am thankful for both my sight and my ability to talk! :)
-
That Decison would not be up to me, that would be up to God :angel11: :angel12:
-
if this was to happen I would choose mute
-
That would be awful in both parts. If this was to happen to me I would choose mute
-
if this was to happen I would choose mute
I agree with you i would rather be mute (if i had to choose for some odd reason), because i maybe able to live somewhat of a normal life.
-
my eye sight is failing due to a disease and it's been a very bad thing for me. I guess I'd rather be mute because I don't like talking much anyway....
-
I enjoy talking and thankful for both but IF i had the choice I would pick Mute I know sign Language and can write what I need but I wouldn't want to miss seeing my children or my husband
-
I'd rather choose to be blind than to become mute. If anything happens to you, when you are mute you can't scream or call for help. You become more sensitive when you are blind by sensing, touching, and overtime you become more fully aware of your surroundings and discover things that you normally don't realize which everyday people take for granted. 8)

I'd rather be mute. There are other ways you could communicate if you couldn't speak.
-
I would rather be mute

I would rather be mute :-X than blind 8)

i love to see things..colors..ppl
i couldnt live without seeing myself
and how everyone looks..
-
Maybe I should have asked if you would wish someone else to be blind or mute.
I bet my husband would say he would want me to be mute! :)

Ohhh this is such a tough question...
I'm a hugeee music fan, so I need my vision & my hearing for it...
If I had to chose, I'd definitely keep my hearing. I'd go CRAZY without music.

The question is on whether you choose to be blind or mute, not deaf. ;) Since vision is important to you, maybe you opt for mute?
-
mute: if you are mute, you can still communicate through things like sign language or writting, but being blind you can't have another source of seeing. Also, you perceive either 70% or 90% of all things from your vision. I forget which one ...
-
Seeing as how I wish to be a voice actor or language interpreter, my voice is very important to me.
However, it's not nearly as much as my sight. So I'd go with mute.
If nothing else, I could at least learn sign language or communicate in other ways to people.
-
I would rather be mute. You can say a lot with your body language and expressions. I love to read and explore new cities and such. I love the stars and the moon. I would be left with only my imagination if I was blind and I don't think I would be able to live with that. Imagination is a pale comparison to the actual view of the night sky. :P

Mute 0.0

This one's easy for me: the reason is I have had double ruptured ear drums twice in the past 2 years and have lost my hearing for like 2 weeks! So I would have to say deaf, but NOT mute, because I could still talk and read lips!
:dontknow:
-
Mute for sure I think not being able is alot worst I could through life without talking but not seeing ???
-
I'd much rather be mute. It would be much easier to function and get around than if I was blind.
-
i'd rather lose sense of smell than lose either eye sight or communication/voice box!!!!
-
definitely mute.
-
if you were a telemarketer you'd probly like to be blind but if you were a lawyer you'd probly like to be mute alot!!!
-
i am almost blind because of my diabetes so mute i guess.... :crybaby2: :crybaby2:
-
Hmmmm, very hard to choose because communication is important, and I'm already worried about my eyesight nowadays. I guess I would probably go mute, since I'm already a quite person in general.
-
I pray I never have to make that decision. I had a friend that went through his whole life, he was even in vietnam, he went blind not long before he died. Sometimes we just do not realize what we have until something is taken away, just stop and think for a second how many things are running to work together in your body right at any given minute, to keep you alive, to keep you feeling good, to help you to see, to hear, Thank the Lord for all of our blessings!!

mute

I would choose to be mute!!
-
I would rather be blind than mute because if i was mute i wouldn't be standing it, i would be flipping out actually. if i was blind, than i wouldn't be mute of course and i wouldn't be flipping out or have a reason to flip out
-
Mute. I love to draw.
-
Since rich isn't a choice...mute. I know a few people have wished I was mute !
-
:) Mute for sure. I need my sight to do things. And as long as I have sight I can still communicate...in writing!
-
mute
-
well that is definetly a hard decision... but i think id rather be mute. because as many have said, sign language and writting things down are definetly a good way of communicating.
-
Obviosly neither, but if the choice cam down to being either one of those or death I would pick being a mute.
-
Would prefer to be neither, but if I HAD to choose one, I would definitely go with mute.
Because with all the texting devices out there now, and the computer keyboard especially, I can type like a *bleep*. lol
-
if I HAD to choose of course it would be mute. Sight is the most precious gift.
-
Mute. I'm quiet anyway.
-
mute.....i think the more appropriate question is: blind or deaf?
-
I would have to say Mute. If you were blind, you would not be able to see life happen, and you could type/text/write what you want to say.
-
I'd rather be mute because I usually say things I don't mean. I have very bad eyesight. But either way both of those things are so bad. I think there was actually one person who was both blind and deaf(not mute) and that would be Helen Keller. You can check it out on this site and see how she overcame her obstacles. Interesting stuff.

-
If I had to make the choice, I would go with mute(deaf) because I know I could still communicate with the many technological advances there are.
-
i would rather be mute :-X
there is too many beautiful things out there to miss seeing.
and its even more beautiful if your not talking.
plus wise men listen not speak. lol
or something like that.
though im far from a wise man ;)
-
I would choose mute becasue my grandmother got blind at her late days. That made her life misarable and sad because she was an active person going everywhere when she was young and she hated being dependent on other people for help even she wanted to find her shoes.
-
Mute, absolutely - no one would miss my mouth! But I would miss seeing the beautiful world God created.
-
I would rather be mute. I think you would be more helpless if you couldn't see what is happening around you. I could always use sign language or write to communicate.
-

Exactly... you can still hear if you are mute.
-
Neither!!!!!!!!

-
