I think now people live in a society of too much freedom. I think we need more rules. Don't you agreed?
-
I can't speak for the whole society in general, but the % of dumb & spoiled kids these days coming out of high school is increasing by the year. That's a fact.
-
that's been a fact since school first existed. I think society has problems (something just arn't the way they should be.. the way common sense would have them be), but to me, whatever.
-
It seems to me that people have developed a "me, me, me" attitude and there aren't a whole lot of people who care about others anymore. Don't get me wrong, there are some, but not many compared to the number of our population. The more people in an area, the less they seem to care.
-
I think that people seem to have forgotten what the important things in life are.
-
I totally agree. If this recession has taught all of us anything, it has taught us all that religion, family and friends are most important in life. Money and other material things are only temporary. Your faith, family and friends will always be there no matter what your economic situation is or becomes.
-
Completely.
We need a lot more rules. WAY more rules.
Personally, I'd like to have someone with direct authority over me, guiding me through all the important steps in life. Preferably someone on a government payroll.
To me, 1984 isn't so much a warning of what could one day befall society, but rather a useful guide on how government can best bring order to the masses.
Thankfully, it would appear that comrade Obama has been dutifully studying the tips President Bush left behind for him.
I can't wait until I have speaker in my room to tell me what to think, like in North Korea. Truly, freedom is overrated.

No, we don't need more rules. We merely need people to continue recognizing their stake and influence in the world.

Compared to what? People's attitudes towards others throughout history?
Where were the hundreds of international charities raising millions upon millions of dollars a few centuries ago? Where were the international peace organizations working to end civil wars and war in general around the world? Where were the international human rights organizations fighting to end genocide, war-rape, slavery, prisoner mistreatment, etc. etc.? Where were the multiple local charities? Where were the homeless shelters? Where were the food drives? Where were the millions of medical specialists struggling to find cures and treatments for some of the worst diseases (and being very successful)? So on and so forth.
Why do people pretend we haven't progressed? It may not be enough, but we're certainly working our way forward in more ways than one...and frankly we're doing so at an astounding rate. Be more positive.

I'm going to take everything you said as though you were being sarcastic, because if you actually feel that way, that's scary.

Not enough responsibility for ones actions. People want to blame others when things go wrong.

I don't understand why some people like to blame most of the faults of society on kids, especially those in or out of high school. If the person is dumb why isn't fault found with the teachers or even the school system? If the child is spoiled why isn't the parent blames for their upbringing? You can't speak for the whole society, but you can speak for the "% of dumb & spoiled kids"?
In my opinion, the fault doesn't lie with lack of rules or dumb and spoiled kids. All the faults lie with people just being people.
-
I think its over populated with ungrateful children. And adults teaching them the era of the WRONG ways.

Our society and civilization are rapidly declining. As our world crumbles, most sit idly by at making no effort to change this downward trend. Perhaps, living in a state where *bleep* is still legal has influenced my opinion.

People have been saying this for a very, very long time, all while ignoring the great progress we've made and the obvious positive direction we've taken on a number of issues.

I completely disagree. I would never want to give up my freedom. And I definitely would not want someone else telling what I can and can't do. This is America not Russia. This society is the way it is because people take so much for granted and its the me, me, me system and don't respect others. There is so much corruption going on in the government that it is ridiculous.

You people sound like a bunch of Ron Paul freedom nuts :(

I think today's society just isn't the
same as it was in the 1990's.
and seems some people don't care
about others and i think it's really
a shame.

where do I begin.

MORE "rules" ? Too much freedom? ??? Aren't the cemetaries are full of soldiers who gave their lives so that we could have the Freedom that we have? Is it really "more rules" that are needed as much as it is that most of society was born with a brain and they need to start using it to make decisions for themselves INSTEAD of having the government tell them every move they should be making?
There are too many people who do not use their brain, or clearly decide to do the wrong thing, so that is why more and more rules are created and needed. Yes in many cases there is too much freedom. I think it depends on what kind of freedoms we are talking about.

stupid is stupid and failure to take responsibility for one's life is stupid - if you have a job or own a business and you are not involved in government then you loss - everyone is sitting around waiting for obama cash - if you want a job go take a job for an illegal - there are plenty of jobs - but this generation thinks they are owed - well you get what you deserve - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle, deviantART, ArtFire, FineArtAmerica

i think todays society has a lot of information not available to other generations and that if you want to find bad things about society they are easily found. I think everyone shoul also look for good things going on in society because ther are lots of good things if you want to find them.
-
All I would say is today's society is interesting. I try to avoid most of it.
-
we don't need more rules, we just need people to follow the ones society has already!!!!!
-
Your witnessing the fall of an empire
a civilization if you want
I think it's interesting
Everybody here is right and yet your all wrong
you have no control
Anybody born between say 1960- 1975 is only worried about themselves
ever body for themselves, it's the end, we're all doomed etc. etc. obama will save us, world peace, yaddda yadda
Anybody born after doesn't care
somebody else will take care of it and them too
The ones that were born before then
Back when people actually cared,
are dying and don't really care
Then there are few that listened to the old ones and remembered the stories and cultures
They will survive
Personally?
I listened
In the end
Yours is the Ultimate Decision
Enjoy It

after watching the jersey shore on mtv, i think our society is deff. down falling.

Too much freedom??? How do you figure this? I think society today is screwed up in more ways than one. People are blinded by what they don't know.
Too much freedom? Hmm I don't understand how you can say that. I think the only possible way I could say that SOME have too much freedom is the child molesters that get off with a damn slap on the wrist,, yes THEY have way to much freedom when disturbed sick twisted people like that should get sentenced to death by lethal injection. You know if you get caught with marijuana you get more time than a molester does, did you know that. I would really like to hear your reasons on why you think we have too much freedom as I believe most of our freedom has gone down the toilet. And those who think Obama is going to "save" us, have you not heard anything from when he was pronounced president. He went back on almost everything he said. Well that's a damn politician for you though.

I think people get off way to easy. I say kill them all on Death Row. That would uncrowd the prisons.
You should be put to death if:
1. You kill another
2. You molest a child
3. You rape a female
4. You hurt another person, intentially
I would love to see a world without so much violence and be able to walk down the street and not have to watch your back.
I also think *bleep* and strip joints need to be done away with.
Yes, this world is very disgusting and cannot wait until God gets rid of the wicked
OMG seriously *bleep* and strip joints??? Out of world hunger, poverty and gangs your choosing your words to say that *bleep* and strip joints should be banned. LMAO ignorance is bliss!! :BangHead:

Not really, I could go on and on with more things but what's the point because nothing is going to change anyways and it is just a waste of time.
If you believe in your heart that it is a waste of time then why did you even post. It takes ONE person to make a change. It takes years and years for changes to occur but if you feel that nothing will ever change then I feel sorry for you. Stand up and believe in yourself, make a difference, only you can hold yourself back!!
-
The bottom line is people don't care the way they used too back in the day..that in itself makes for a bad society I believe..And further more children are having children which makes for bad rearing.. :angry7:
-
Yes i agree.
I am tired of my kids hearing curse words on the radio and butts on the tv. I am tired of worrying about them getting into drugs when they get into high school because 90% of high school kids do them.
-
I would have to write a book to tell all the things I feel about today's society but I prefer to dwell on the remedy rather than the symptoms. We have always had wars, murder, rape, child molestation, abuse, *bleep*, greed etc. All of them have existed since time began but it was all behind the curtain and not as obvious to the masses. Incest and child abuse were NEVER talked about. Wars were glorified and you had to go down dark alleys to find *bleep* and *bleep*. Today all of it is watched on tv the internet or in the movies. It is hard to shock people today. Even worse is to some, it is all accepted- even cool. The only way out of this global mess is spirituality, responsibility, morality and a desire to live a life of service to others rather than service to self.

for my 30 posts is why i posted but I don't want to get into a deep discussion and that is why I felt it was a waste of time
I just think it's funny that "female" is very specific. I guess men can get raped. ('-'*)

:sad1: When I was young, my friends and I would camp out in our front yards.. NO ONE does that now. It is tooo dangerous. We used to buy a movie ticket for 50 cents, and see two movies ,three cartoons, and be able to stay to see the movies over and over if we wanted to.. Going to the movies on a Saturday , was an all day thing. We bought candy bars for 5 cents each. And penny candy was THREE for a penny. We ate together at the table every night as a family. We prayed before we ate. We minded the teachers, or she would send us to the office, where we would be spanked with a paddle.. then spanked again when we got home for causing a problem at school. {I was lucky, and never got spanked} We said."Yes Mamme. And Yes Sir, when spoken to by our elders. We listened with delight to our Grandparents talking about the "good 'ol days". We respected others. We thought weed was the stuff you pulled out of the front lawn, and We wanted to grow up without worrying about keeping our front door locked at all times. We sat on the front porch, and listened to kids play red rover, when we wern't in the game ourselves. Pizza was a treat we got only once in a while, not every night, and it wasn't delivered. You could buy an ice cream cone at' Foster Freeze' for a nickle..... I miss being 10.

people don't have no respect
-
I don't have much hope for society. =/
-
When we ALL were growing up and becoming "of age" things were a lot easier Now it takes an act of congress for you to properly punish your kids! THIS WORLD we live in now needs more discipline and less whining!
-
A Lot of people know take the things that they have now for granted have anyone seen the movie The book of Eli watch it it is good

Amen, and some basic manners would be nice.
