I live in a basement apartment, and i have a sliding glass door.Birds fly into my door all the time usually resulting in broken neck and death.Any suggestions on how i can stop this?We always heard it was bad luck if this happens not sure i beleive that or not but in case i certainly do not need no more bad luck in my home or family!

leave the door open :dontknow:
Idk maybe put some stickers or something on the glass?

Get a Dog.
Set up a turbofan.
Flak defense.
-
stop using windex! hahaha
-
Stickers might help. At least you know your glass is clean :dog:
-
set up some sort of padding on windows so when the birds do hit it they bounce off instead of thud and die! quit cleaning windows so well, or put something up that would be a natural deterent for birds to fly at!

  :wave:Hang a bead curtain,, that keeps all flying things out, even flies!!!
-
I like the suggestion of hanging a bead curtain.
Hanging a suncatcher could be another option.
-
Get a three-year-old to smudge up the window for you. :D
Or setup a scarecrow outside the door.
-
Put a stop sign. ;D

Just kick them off of the door step and go on with you day. The cats will get the weak ones who didn't die.

that sucks! that used to happen at our house when i was a kid. my dad ended up screening in our porch so that the birds couldn't get anywhere near our door. not sure if that will work for you but i hope you find a solution soon. good luck!!!

This reminded me of those windex commercials or whatever it was...I don't exactly have that problem though, so I can't be much of a help to you...

thanks everyone,my window not that clean
my grandsons are six and four and always on the door will try window decos

I think curtains or blinds would help. I think they sell outdoor shades or blinds also. Not sure how expensive they are. As a quick fix I would just put an inexpensive shower curtain on the outside. Hope that doesn't sound silly. I try to improvise a lot.

O.k update:I have pink blinds up already,I tried reflection stickers it didn`t work either.Anymore suggestions.I would be most grateful.

 Make a bird pie!!!

Maybe you could hang your bead curtain on the outside of the door. That way there would be no reflection on the glass. Good luck.

I don't think there's anything you can do except put a wall up. That used to happen often in the house I grew up in. They used to always slam into the screen door and the living room window.
-
i would put up a black tint. of some type :)
-
install a screen silly...that way you can have the door open and nothing comes in. :)

my sister had the same thing that happen. the bird keep flying and slamming into their sliding door every morning. it even put a crack in the door. they tried putting a foil and taping it to the door to blind the bird but it didnt work. one day, my brother got tired of the bird picking at the door and making a loud noise, he shot the bird

ok it has not happened since we put bird feeder two feet from window, thanks everyone .

^^ I agree, I bet putting some of those little window cling things will help the glass be more noticeable. Or you can try covering it with a curtain.
-
there are actually stickers that are almost invisible to humans but birds can see them. They are especially for that reason. You can propbably look on line and find them. They would have to be cheap.

thanks for input need to look for them
