Title: Oldbuddy on Referrals
Post by: oldbuddy on February 18, 2010, 08:56:41 am
I keep getting people asking me how I get so many referrals, so here's my best method disclosed free.

First you need to realize that if you only promote the links, banners or pages Fusioncash gives us, you are not only going to get very few referrals, the few you do get are most likely not going to do much without any guidance, so you are not going to get many bonuses. You want to FIND people that are ready to make money and give them the whole plan, then they will go to work if they want it bad enough.

Then understand people don't join programs, links or banners as much as they join PEOPLE. If you want more people to join you, become a LEADER, that's what they are looking for. Anyone can shove a link in your face, it takes a leader to create a strong desire to take action. Yes YOU, if you can teach someone online ONE THING that brings them closer to their goals, you are a leader in their eyes. If you're not the lead dog, the view is always the same!

One way I do that is with VIDEOS and posting them on YouTube. Then I don't need to beat my head on the brick wall of free advertising, I just wait for them to find me. If you say you can't make a video yourself, get a life! You can make money online or you can make excuses, but it's hard to do both.

If you have Windows, you can make videos FREE. Search online for some free music that's legal to use, then free images or your own photos and combine them with titles in Windows Movie Maker (comes with Windows) and share it with people you meet online. It's the same old breadcrumb analogy I use all the time. If you want to catch birds (remember it's an analogy), do you run around waving a blanket in the air trying to knock one down, or spread some breadcrumbs around and wait for them to show up? I spread breadcrumbs online every day!

For an example of what you can do look at my Movie Maker video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG4x_4AAWug

Notice I don't just promote one thing, I package ideas together for greater impact, then lead them from site to site so they can learn more about me and what I do. If they get curious enough to spend some time clicking around, they are a LOT closer to a serious prospect I can help. He who helps the most people wins, it's that simple. Knowing all this stuff gets you NOWHERE, you need to teach it!

There you go, now what are you going to do next?

Oldbuddy, I have been following you for a few years now it seems like (we go back to yuwie days!) and you are an inspiration.  Thank you for everything you have done in the online and real world community.

Thanks Lanny, but that's not going back. I still use Yuwie every day and still benefit from it. That's another reason I do better than the average bear, I don't leave the party until the lights go out. Sure it's down to a dull roar, but I just got a new referral over there yesterday that has been on Skype with me ever since asking me what to do next.

Good Deal.  I am only over there periodically to check on some members.  Yes, the roar there has quieted a bit, but I am sure the "predator" will enrage again!  Hope the analogy made sense?  But yes, the key is being open and connecting with people and if that leads to a referral, well then thats a bonus : )

I like the You Tube idea, because I always wanted to make videos, but never could come up with a good subject. But do you think that this will be an effective form of advertising as more and more people start doing it, or will the market soon be flooded?

The whole Internet is flooded, so what? You just need to be better than the other guy.

:bunny: Okay , I'll try it. I was also going to plant a banner on my FACEBOOK.   :bunny:
That is EXACTLY what I am saying NOT to do. All you will accomplish is telling anyone who comes to your Facebook profile that you are pushing some kind of money making junk and they stay clear of you. From the banner they don't get ANY real information they need to make a sound decision. They just cross over to the other side when they see you coming down the street. Soon you can join the Money Making NFL (No Friends Left).

Make real friends FIRST, then tell them how you are finding success just like you would recommend a movie or good place to eat. When I tell people I like Taco Bell because they have an unadvertised special of free drinks for seniors, I have yet to lose a friend over it. Some don't go there, but they know I was doing them a favor by telling them. Frame your Fusioncash offer the same way after you get their trust.

Over 500 last count. I don't count often because it doesn't matter, I just encourage the ones who let me so they cashout often.

oldbuddy is the only name i know on here. It's logical to look to the man with money to learn how to earn money. I'm going to take the "teacher" thing to heart. I'd certainly be willing to help people, considering i've somewhat figured it out myself now.

As far as FB is concerned, I know I got interest in another site when I posted that I got a 25.00 Gift Card. My friends that I work with asked me about it, and I got at least one person to sign up. I plan on doing the same thing when I get my next Fusion cash payment. It is a lot better than just putting a banner there.

I don't know where you got the idea I only pitch to friends, it's just the opposite for me. I would much rather find people online who are already interested in making money than try to convert a friend or relative that has NO CLUE.

This is the best advice I've EVER HAD in all of my computer experiences about getting referrals. I would never have thought to 'sell myself'. Some sites where people want refs are nuts! They are like sharks with tons of fish in the sea to gobble up. They don't care about their refs, only their money they make off of them.
Thanks for this advice. I'm a newbie here, so if I need some advice, can I send you a message or find you on here? Let me know, d...

The big problem with the sites you mentioned is once they get credit for signing up, you never see them again. On th other hand, I had 11 people cash out the other day.

Hi Oldbuddy,
I am new at this and am trying to figure out the whole referral thing and "promote yourself" thing. I have seen almost if not all of your videos on youtube and am very excited. I just don't know what I am dong wrong. I did the link referral and the blog thing, I have yet to make a video though. I am stumped by one thing with the surveys and such. I see that you and others have several offers completed and most of the ones I clik on don't seem to credit me. How do you complete so many offers and are they all the free ones? I would love if you could contact me. Since we can not post cotact information here I will say that I am on facebook and myspace by the same name I am here. Or can I email you?

Thanks,
Vfoxfire

The banner offer statistics include getting referrals, which is why my numbers are so high. I do free offers every day, but have done many paid ones over the years if I find one I want to use. I have never done any just so I can cancel it and keep the money. Not only is that risky, I think it's wrong. The advertisers on here are people too and I appreciate what they do for us, even the bad ones. Overall, they provide me a nice flow of extra income that makes my retirement more fun.

Hi Oldbuddy,
I think I see what you are saying now. The "offers" count is not just necessarily actual offers but that number also includes funds made from referrals. Ok, I will again focus on getting my referrals up. Also, was it just "luck" that you became so well known or how long have you been working at it. Sorry , I am very inquisitive. I really need this program to work.

No it certainly was NOT luck, I have been building my online reputation since I retired in September, 2000. I joined Fusioncash in November, 2007 and started actively posting in the forum in the middle of 2009. What I have learned by doing all that could fill a book, but the most important points are, ANYONE can do it if they apply themselves and it grows exponentially. The more active you are the more people know you and the easier it is to be more active. It grows on itself.

I like the way you put that, oldbuddy!  I wanted to try and get referrals from my facebook account as well, but I did not want to come on too strong and then scare all my friends away.  So I really have not done anything with facebook until I figured out the best way to approach the topic or for someone to ask me. I have been following your advice with the blogger and linkreferral and have received 5 referrals as a result.  Thanks sooo much, because I was beginning to get frustrated.  I know that it takes alot of work, but nothing else seamed to be working, until I followed your advice.

I wouldn't advertise my blog on Neobux, create a splash page fast to load and easy to scan with heavy benefits and a strong call to action.

Your better at this online earning thing then I am. and you probably have no problem doing as many offers as you like, but its not that easy for those strapped for cash. I mean those who don't have a lot of extra money to spare. for me every dollar counts, meaning I have to think twice sometimes three times before I spend a single penny. I have a blog two in fact, and there both promoted on traffic swarm. but I still dont have any referrals for some of my programs, I also have a couple of simple youtube videos, I say simple because they dont have much sound, and they dont look as good as yours, also I dont have the extra cash to promote them on youtubes promotional program bottom line its been really hard for me to earn online.

I've also been fallowing you since yuwie in fact I'm still a member, and I also fallow you on youtube. well anyway I've had some modest success online, but still nothing like the kind of success that you seem to have, I can only hope that someday I can be as successful as you, but right now I have a looonnnggg way to go, I've been at this for two years, and earning online can be a bit frustrating at times. trying to earn online, because even when a person is being completely honest about a site or program people still avoid joining. anyway you seem to really know your stuff. :notworthy:

People on Traffic Storm don't read much and especially don't read blogs if they do. You need a simple splash page with one benefit that will catch their eye and a strong call to action. Then if you want to promote your blog, do a search for free blog traffic and look into EntreCard.

Investment is sometimes necessary in order to earn a substantial profit, however, pay attention.  Not all offers are worth the investment.  Think about your time, as well, and what the investment will lead into in the long run.

A splash page is simply a web page that focuses on a powerful benefit and has a strong call to action. It should fit on one screen without scrolling, or at least the part that shows should have a strong enough impact to engage the viewer so they are willing to continue reading. Use of bullet points and short text to allow scanning in seconds is critical, because on traffic exchanges people are only going to see your page for a second or two before moving on, that is unless it gets there attention. Some people think they have the entire timer length to make an impact, but most traffic exchange users have a tabbed browser and are looking at another page as soon as yours hits the screen.

EntreCard is a program for bloggers to display a 125X125 'card' on their blog to earn credits to show their own card on other blogs. We can't post links here, but you can search for it and check it over, it's free. I have posted some videos about my EntreCard drop system on YouTube.

Thank you for your videos. They are very helpful!  ;) How does one earn the required $15 from offer completions without having to spend money? I am strapped right now, so the extras are not in my budget.  :crybaby2:

I do the daily surveys every day until I qualify for at least one. The My Thought Counts is a good one to do, because it gives you $1 per day. Do that for 15 days, and there's your minimum! I very rarely qualify the first time I do a survey.

I just joined FC today and I'm still trying to make sense out of everything. I did a offer earlier and I'm still waiting to get credit for it. So, I'm not sure whats going on when I know I completed the offer. catch you all later :)

Sure thing, look at offers > daily offers > more special offers > videos

Notice I don't just promote one thing, I package ideas together for greater impact, then lead them from site to site so they can learn more about me and what I do. If they get curious enough to spend some time clicking around, they are a LOT closer to a serious prospect I can help. He who helps the most people wins, it's that simple. Knowing all this stuff gets you NOWHERE, you need to teach it!

There you go, now what are you going to do next?

Hello Oldbuddy,i watched you tutorial video, and you walked me through every step, and process.By the way, it's nice to meet you :).Have a great day.
