Title: Six Inch of Foot Long?
Post by: oldbuddy on March 05, 2010, 09:33:29 am
I ate at Subway yesterday and stuffed down a foot long just because it was only another $1.50 more than a six inch.

Have you done that? I try to get my wife to go with me so we can split one, but she was off with friends.

The new deal of any regular sub for $5 has me going more often than ever.

We ate at Subway the other day and we did the same thing.  Only I saved my other half for lunch the next day.  Just took the lettuce off so it didn't get soggy.

$5 Foot long = Amazing.  Technically, if you aren't as hungry, you can just eat 6 inches first, then save the last half for a few hrs from then. $2.50 for a meal is pretty good : )     I personally like the Roasted Chicken Breast.

I love Subway. I always get the veggie patty. I'm stoked they finally made all regulars 5.00, mine wasn't 5 before. Yay!

The veggie patty is so good! But they don't have it around here anymore. I get the 3 footlongs for $15, it's pretty much like getting one for free (well it was before they made it 5 for all subs). My new favorite is the chicken bacon ranch. Sometimes I could eat the whole thing if I was really hungry. If not I just save the rest for later.

It's worth it to get the $5 footlong.  That adds up to two meals which is a great deal.

I agree. $5 for a footlong sub is a great deal, expecially if you're trying to eat out on a budget.

I haven't been to subway in a while -- sounds good (well not right now because it's 10:20 pm and it's too late for a Subway outing)

Definately hitting Subway next week one day for lunch.  It is a good deal to get the footlong and save 1/2 for lunch the next day or another meal sometime.

I Love Subway. If I only get a 6 inch Sub, then I need some chips and a coke to feel satisfied. Howevr IF I just eat the footlong and drink water, I am full and happy. I think this is much healthier then having the 6 inch with the chips and coke.

The $5 Footlong is a great deal so I order it and have it cut in two.  I save the other half for my next day's lunch.

Speaking of great deals, I could not believe the deal that Taco Bell has right now. You get a Gordita, Burrito and Taco, plus those cinnamon thingys and a drink for $5.  I was so happy I went back and few days later and took my mom and dad.  Two of us at one of them and just ordered another drink.  It they have it in your part of the country and you are a taco bell fan check it out.  You can't beat it.

Yep I love the $5 deal. Mine has always been $5 since the deal started since I like the spicy iltailian. I used to be able to eat the whole thing but after my diet I can only eat 1/2. I have the cut it in half then add mayo to 1/2 the sub to keep it fresh as it can be

I love their oatmeal raisin cookies. *_*

I heard about the $5 footlongs, but there's a price difference.
Ok. The $5 footlongs in Hawaii do exist, but it only applies on the following sandwiches: Meatball Marinara, Cold Cut Combo, Spicy Italian, and BLT.
Everything else is advertised as a $6 footlong.
The NBA fill up box at Taco Bell is $6.79 in Hawaii.

Yeah I can easily finish off a foot long :P
Though usually I eat half for lunch and the other half for late afternoon snack.
Depends on the day, since usually if I've had to grab Subway, it means very late dinner for me.
Usually grab a slushie from Sonic during their happy hour too - 48 ounce Lemonberry fresh fruit slush (I love the strawberries and lemon slices) for a buck. Much prefer it to soda.

If I go to Subway, I'm usually really hungry and in the mood for it, so I can eat the whole foot long in one sitting. I bring it home and cut it in thirds, takes me a while but I can finish it. The BMT is good. Taco Bell is great too. The triple layer Nachos for .89 are so good. KFC has a 5.00 box lunch deal....I'll have to try it next week one day.

What you can actually do is buy the foot long and have it for lunch for two days if you actually get full off a 6 inch.. I myself can scarf down 3 footlongs and be content for the day

I live subway.  I can not eat the 12 incher in one sitting.  I'm like you, and will buy it (since it is $5) and get one side plan (no salad) and save it for dinner.

Heh...I actually work as a manager for a Subway.  I should use this time to post all the crap some customers do that annoys me.

-GET OFF YOUR CELL PHONE
-Don't ask for white cheese.  At our Subway, we have three cheeses that are white: Provolone, Swiss, and American.  Note that there's absolutely nothing special about White American cheese.  Its the same crap American cheese you buy at the store, its just not colored to look like cheddar.
-Don't ask for "9 grain" bread.  We have wheat and honey oat (Note that its just "Honey Oat", not "Honey AND Oat"), and both are 9-grain.
-Don't ask for a ______ and cheese sandwich, (Ie, "Turkey and Cheese" or "Ham and Cheese").  All of our sandwiches come with cheese.  You don't need to tell me you want cheese on it.  HOWEVER, if you're telling me the exact KIND of cheese, then that's fine, and is actually preferred because then it means one less question I have to ask you.  So asking for a "Turkey and Cheddar" is fine.
-Asking for your sandwich to be cut in half is not the same as asking me to wrap each half separately.  We ALWAYS cut the foot longs in half.  If you want each half wrapped separately, say so.  I'm not going to assume that that's what you wanted just because you asked me to cut it in half.
-Don't tell me you want a $5 footlong.  It doesn't help me make your sandwich.  All our footlongs are $5, asking for a $5 footlong doesn't narrow it.  You wouldn't go to McDonald's and say "Can I get a value meal?" would you?  Of course not!
-Those are red onions, not purple onions.  Yes, I know they look purple, but they're still called red onions because the skin on the outside is reddish.  Go to a grocery store produce section and ask the guy there for purple onions and he'll probably look at you funny.
-My speed depends on YOUR speed.  Don't wait for me to finish putting a veggie on and I look up at you to tell me the next veggie you want.  Each second I have to wait for you is another second I could be spending helping the next customer.
-"Would you like any chips, drinks, or cookies with that today?"  "No thanks, I'll just get a bag of chips."  Self-explanatory.

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

i love subway!! i used to work there too, i worked at 2 of them. i wasnt there very long though. the first one i was only there for about 2 weeks coz i had gotten strep throat from my ex and called into work 2 days in a row coz i was about to go to the doctor to see what was wrong. they said i was on a 2 week trial and that i was fired. they fired me before i had a chance to go to the doctor. so.. the next one i was hired at like 2 weeks later. they said i was a replacement for a x-hooker that had to go to court for charges etc. blah blah. i didnt think they were able to tell me that stuff but they did. i went to work when they had me scheduled the first day. i worked for 3 hrs and they didnt have me do much even though i wanted to work coz i was bored. well i had the cheeses and all the breads down..and where everything was but the last hour they had me chopping peppers and then they told me i could go home. so i didnt go back. i dont remember what they said but obviously they told me not to come back.

It works both ways, I am an expert at ordering my sandwich and they seldom need to ask me questions, but when I tell them ALL the veggies I don't expect to be asked if I want hot peppers again or, "is there anything you don't want?", I mean what part of everything don't they understand?

I agree, but the problem isn't really us, its other customers.  You'd be amazed how often someone tells us that they want everything, but then half the things I go to put on, they go "OH WAIT not that!"

I've had a customer where they asked for everything, I go to put spinach on and they stop me and tell me to skip the spinach.  I put the lettuce and tomato on, then go for the cucumbers and they interrupted me again.  I go for pickles and AGAIN they stop me.  I finally ask "Alright...let's try this the other way...tell me what you DO want."  Turns out he just wanted lettuce, tomato, and olive.  3 out of the 9 veggies we offer, and yet he told me he wanted everything.

It happens far more often than you think.  THAT'S why we double check with certain veggies (Usually spinach and jalapeno, the two veggies most often customers don't want even when they say everything).

Its not always healthy, depending on what you get.

There are people that come in and get a footlong Spicy Italian with ranch dressing on it, thinking they're eating healthy because its Subway, when really that sub has a whopping 1040 calories and 56 grams of fat, and that's not including mayo or any sauces (Though it DOES include cheese).  That's actually WORSE than going to McDonalds!  A Big Mac and large fry has 1040 calories and 54g fat.

I used to be able to eat an entire footlong, but after 4 years of working at a Subway, I can't.  Now, I can barely eat a 6 inch.  I'm sssoooo tired of eating Subway food.  After eating it 5 times a week every week for 4 years, it starts to get old.  And even if I try to mix it up and eat different sandwiches, its still pretty meh.  I have to force myself to eat a sandwich each day.

I used to always hit Subway after the bar and could easily put down a foot long. I had a buddy that would put down two of them. LOL Probably not the best thing to cram in your body late night before bed. :)
