What is the best way to catch catfish? I use chicken livers. What do you use? Where do you fish? i.e ponds, rivers, etc.

I have used nightcrawlers in the past and my favorite place to fish for them is near the Colorado River.

I use cut bait whenever I go to the coast, or shrimp. Whatever I catch and can't eat, I usually chop it up, and fill my hooks up with it. The last time I went fishing, there was a guy out on the pier with a silver luer on his line, no other bait, and he was  casting out and pulling up spanish mackarel like nothing!!! He gave us some, which was really cool, hard to clean and fillet though!!! Never figured out what type it was.......

True story!!!! On that same trip to the coast, I had my fancy smancy fishing pole with three leads on the line and a flywheel reel. Yeah,  I thought I was hot stuff, let me tell ya! I kept casting out, got bites, no catch!

That same afternoon, my husband rigged up a piece of string with a hook and bait on the end of it, tied that to a stick he found on the ground (popsicle stick) rapped it around the top of the pier, and walked away for 10 minutes He caught a dang fish on that line!!!!!!! It  was the only one we caught that day, and I was soooooo jealous!!!!! LOL!!!!
My husband is a genius.........

I have never used a stick, but i have broke my pole in half. I kept fishing. I did get some pretty interesting looks. I felt like I was fishing with one of my boys Scooby-Doo fishing poles.
