I personally don't know but from what I hear it's not a bad thing to use protein supplements

I use whey protein shakes every day, and they definitely help me.  It's a quick, easy way to get the protein needed for muscle growth.

Good for initial bulk ups if you do serious cardio to.  If you take them all the time...it will catch up with an you will have some serious weight problems in the future.

my bulkier buddies do protein shakes.  I don't like them myself...and I'd rather eat cow or something instead if I needed the protein increase.  I do agree, though, be careful how much you consume or you will have a weight problem that you were not anticipating!

ok - from a professional that works with this information DAILY
you need to work out muscle in order for muscle to grow -- muscle needs to be stretched and worked to grow-
you have to have proper intake of ALL nutrients in order to effectively build muscle.

excessive protein can cause additional stress on your internal organs (kidneys, heart particularly) and that can have extensive health risks later in life.
you also need to make sure you have carbohydrate to FUEL your body.... you also MUST take in adequate water

I've read that muscle grows when you are asleep. So exercise alone is probably not helpful if it is a fact that muscle grows only when you are asleep.

I think that protein shakes are ok just as long as you don't over-do it with them. Like the saying goes "too much of a good thing is a bad thing".

I like the new gatorade drink that helps you recoup faster. it really makes a difference in my workouts. As far as protein shakes, I use Muscle Max vanilla flavor.

muscle grows while it is at rest.... but in order for it to grow you have to USE the muscle -- meaning workout, etc.

I would suggest using high reps. 10-15 seem to work best for me. I also use good form and get the most out of my workout.
