Post by: Shakybakie on May 10, 2010, 06:39:16 pm
Would you be texting on the phone while you're out for dinner on a date?

Nope, you should talk with your date definitely.  Then again I'm not a texter if I have something to say I'll call someone or if I'm on a date Ill talk to that person haha.

if it were turned around, and my date was texting
through the night, i'd think he was completely rude,
self-involved, and annoying. :dontknow:

actually, a little insecure too.

there wouldn't be a second date.

Yeah, when I am on a date, I try not to text or use my phone at all... If I do, well it's because said person on the date has already proved to be a bad date. :p

Casually using the phone during a date, for anything except important family/business issues, seems like a jerk move to me.

In all honesty it depends on how the date is going. If the date is going fine and the guy is not being an idiot or boring then no texting is not ok. However if the guy is being rude or the date is boring me to tears I really wouldn't care if he thought it rude of me to be texting during the date cuz there's no way I'd want to go on another date with him. That may sound rude, but if my date isn't at least making an effort to try and impress me then I'm not going to make the effort to try and impress him.

Unless you really don't like ur date or ur trying to get rid of them I would definately say it's rude and probably will make ur date feel like u don't want to be there or u have better things to do! :(

I think cell phone use is overdone, wether texting or calling. What ever happened to human to human conversations? Emergency use is fine, but a waste for just chatting all day long!

Personally I think it depends on the people involved and the setting. I am not a big texter however if I were on a date (i am engaged so if i were it wouldn't matter soo much lol BUT) I would ALWAYS answer my daughter who IS a big texter!

The only time that I have ever texted on a date was when either I have excused myself to the bathroom or if my date has excused himself to the bathroom. other than that i have never texted while on a date

I wouldn't be texting to begin with.  I think that garbage is the biggest waste of time there is.  We have become a society so extremely dependent on technology to do things for us in order to satisfy our instant gratification that it is'nt even funny.  Many times people text just to text because they have a brand new toy all the while feeding the pockets of the companies that make cell phones while really having nothing to say. I swear if some company invented a machine to go to the toilet for us, thousands of people would probably buy it.

I wouldn't even have my cell phone turned on and if I did I wouldn't be using it out on a date that's just rude to do to someone

I'm admittedly addicted to texting so yes...I might text during a date but only if it's an emergency or an important text (ie. the babysitter) and I would of course apologize for having to take and reply to a text during a date.  I see it as taking an important call.   :dog:

If my boyfriend and I did a date night, I'd answer my phone because it would be about my daughter.

Dang that is rude. People should leave their phone on silent. If the phone rings or vibrates loudly, apologize to the date, and quickly turn off the phone.

I would not be texting while I was out for dinner on a date.  I think texting is very rude and disrespectful.
