I would just like to say that I am a PC so this is pretty one sided, but pc with vista is the best for most applications. A mac has less programs because they are more new so not everything is adapted for them. XP, it's good, it's more classic, able to run older programs, even back to the MS-DOS days. So, XP or Vista are definately best.

Windows operating systems are user friendly (and getting even more friendly version after version).. Unix operating systems are not quite user friendly but a little bit of learning goes a long way in helping the user.. More control than Windows I might say..

Right now I'm a PC with XP and I like it -- except the PC is more than 5 years old and too small too many handle multiple applications.  And, I'm on dial-up, so that slows everything up.

I decided to upgrade to a Dell Laptop with Windows 7 -- big mistake -- since no one has a external modem that works well with Windows 7.  (Two manufacterers say their modems work with Windows 7 and I was able to get one to connect, but at half the speed that I get with XP -- the other one didn't connect at all despite all that we tried.)  I suspect I need to go broadband to use the laptop.

Never tried a Mac -- but I'm not into design or artwork so don't see much need to shift.  Tho I do like their commericials.

Don't mind Windows 7, but after years with XP, it's a pain to have to relearn where all the new stuff is.  Plus, the laptop screen -- even at 17" is still smaller than my 17" desktop.  Some WW game windows are so small on the laptop that I have difficulty seeing what's going on.
