Title: My house was robbed!!!!
Post by: lher0277 on May 21, 2010, 08:38:34 pm
A few weeks ago someone or some people broke into my house, through the front door! My neighbors were at work and I left to my son 1st year appt, that day. They took my Lcd Tv, dig camara. laptop and jewlery I was so mad because it was the first time it happened, I was hoping it would be recovered in a *bleep* shop but no luck. What has been taken from you??

Sorry to hear that.  I had different houses broken into years ago.  The last time someone took little worthless pieces of jewelry.  The jewelry wasn't worth anything monetarily but they were sentimental. One was a necklace a favorite aunt gave me (she's dead now but was still alive when it was taken) and a bracelet my grandmother gave to my mother who gave it to me.

Not only are you angry when someone steals but you feel vulnerable like anybody at any time can just walk into your home and take what they want.  It takes a while to get over that feeling.  Just know that they will get what's coming to them.  I believe in karma.

A long time ago when i was like 6 or 7 years old, the renters living at our house broke into our side of the house. They were able to steal things like jewelry and VCR's. After that incident, every time i left the house, i hid my toy dinosaur in the closet. Hide your dinosaurs!

had my cars broken into many times...last one made me mad, as they took some CD's that were useless to them but meant a whole lot to me.  there were plenty of other things they could have taken and they wanted those??
hey, more power to em if they love children's music program CD's for teachers...

That's such a shame. Thugs!

Someone tried to break into my house many years ago in the middle of the day on New Year's Eve, but I was off work early for the day and drove up before they could get in. They had already broken a bathroom window.

Misery loves company doesn't it?

I never really had my house broken in to. But my parents always had their car broken in to. One time my dad parked our car right outside of the laundry mat, and the whole time we were in there doing our wash someone was outside stealing their radio. Another time was in our own apartment parking lot. We came out and whoever stole the speakers in the back of my parents truck just left the back open and took off.

It's a horrible feeling. I'm sorry you have to go through it. The whole "what if's" and "if onlys." Like if only I came home sooner or if only we went outside sooner. But don't worry about it. Now is all about bouncing back from what happened and moving on. Consider it a reason to get new things. My thoughts are that it could ALWAYS be much worse. They could have stolen the whole car instead of just part of it. Although I am beyond angry that they took my stuff, at least I wasn't there when they broke in. Who knows how violent those bastards could have been? Instead of loss of property it could have been loss of life. If trying to find a silver lining in all this is hard...just hope karma is out there doing it's job.

my wife just found out that someone has taken our wedding ring set witch included her diamond engagement ring along with both wedding bands. I had to have mine cut off because of an injury to my left hand and my wife's hand swelled up so she took hers off and put them both in her jewelry box. she went to look for them the other day and they were gone from where she put them.she cried when she tried to explain it to me.

I had a break in when I lived in a pretty bad neighborhood. After that I put some more valuable things in a storage facility until I moved. When I went to get them, it had been robbed and everything was gone. At least I had it insured and was able to replace the stolen items.

I've had two bicycles stolen, none of them recently.  I guess the demand for black market bikes isn't what it used to be.

I took mine off  because my hand was swollen from pregnancy too it was in the drawer in plain sight but from moving stuff around they missed them both (diamond and band)I was so relieved.

I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to you a few weeks ago. I've never been robbed, but I know people who have. One of my classmates last week had her car parked, near by her house, as she approached her car the windows were broke out on the passenger side. She told me she had fixed it, but she still is unhappy. I told not to worry, but to be careful, when she goes to her car. Anyway, she's o.k. thank goodness. My advice is to you is to file a police report, and invest in a alarm that will signal to the police department. That will make you few a little safe, knowing that someone is watching over you. The final choice is to move, somewhere else, that would be a good choice, bull it will not solve the problem. The location where you decide to move , could be worser. Try to be careful and look out for self when your on the way home. ???

sorry to hear about that, thats terrible, i think crime is going up everywhere, please do hide your stuff, and maybe i think the best thing to do is to get a guard dog, maybe an alarm system to protect your place.

I've had my car broken into twice in the past year.

First time I had my cd's and my GPS stolen, and both were hidden...

Second time nothing was taken since nothing was in there after the first time.

you can't trust anybody at all anymore.

A different house of mine was broken into a lot of years ago.  I felt violated and scared because my daughter had gotten home from school and called me.  I told her to get out of the house at once because I wasn't sure if someone was still there.  I never felt safe again in that house.

Sorry it happened it to you.

Sorry to hear about your house being robbed... that sucks!

I too over the years have experienced being broken into and robbed.... I own a Sports Card and Memorabilia Shop that has been broken into a few times over night. I had security alarms activated... but alarms don't stop people from breaking in. And although the Police responses to my store had been very quick, didn't stop thieves from grabbing all they could in a single minute and off they went.... with Autographed footballs, helmets, high-end sports cards and other valuables. Smash and Grab tactics, it's hard to protect against without installing metal bars over your windows.....

I also had my car stolen..... that super sucked! Call it my fault if you wish... left the keys in it while it was running outside the gas station while I ran in quick. I came out of the gas station and looked around, thinking... where the heck is my car? Sure enough, a young guy and girl jumped in and Police found my car the following night about an hour and a half away. They got pulled over for not having the headlights on..... duh. They were arrested and when court time came, they were let go, free of charge, no fines, no jail, no nothing..... Their defense was that I sold them the car in the gas station parking lot....? What? I don't think so. Ultimately the State could not prove them guilty and free they went. WOW, I was so, pissed. Steal a car and they got no punishment once so ever.

My heart goes out to those of you who have been victims of theft.  The best you can do is make sure your insured for everything you have.  Write down serial numbers on all your electronic stuff (TV, VCR's, Computer's, etc.), that way if anything is recovered, you can identify it as actually being yours.  Take pictures of everything you own also so replacing it will be easier for the insurance company if you need to file a claim.

I've had my identity stolen twice and it's a nightmare.  How can you replace your identity?  Things you can replace, but who you are is the ultimate theft.  Talk about feeling vulnerable.

When we had our place at the lake, it was broken into quite a few times.  Our regular home was also broken into.  That was worse.  Dresser drawers were emptied onto the bed, etc.  I don't think you ever feel safe again after you have been broken into.  You feel violated.

My insurance company now has a service for $25 a year, where they will handle everything if you have your identity stolen.  I feel that is well worth it.

We were renting a house in 2004 and our landlord told us to keep the doors unlock so, they could have access anytime. Then again, the landlord should of have a extra key anyways. So, our house wasn't really broken into later that year. Anyone could of made them self at home since we left the doors unlocked. So, someone took my 22 rifle and my brother's gun too. They took nearly all of my mom's jewelery too and thats about it. Anyways, lock doors and windows only keep the honest people out. Just like I was using my mom's BF jeep for a few days and I keep everything locked. Someone broke the back passenger door window and got inside to rip out the stereo system. It seems like nothing is safe these days.

I know exactly how you feel!!  A house we lived in many years ago was broken into twice.  I remember the feelings of rage and vulnerability almost as if it were yesterday.  We had a TV and two pistols stolen.  We don't live there anymore!!!  More recently, I had a purse stolen from the office I worked in.

They were probably staking out your home for awhile before that occurred.

Keep your eyes out for strangers around your neighborhood.

Be aware.

Sorry to hear that you've been robbed...that's terrible. Look into getting an alarm system, you can do it through a electronic store or a company. Put up a camera if possible, because, some people are hit more than once. I find that a lot of times it's an inside job, meaning someone who knows the ran of your house. I don't any disrespect, because it happens all the time. Be on the look out for funny acting people.

PMZ908 I really fear that, they may kill my dog if they wanted to rob my house. That's really low to kill someone's dog while stealing their stuff...how cruel and inhumane. You used to able to say "get a job", right? My sympathy for your loss of the dog.

That has happened to me 3 or 4 times when I lived near the beach, and when Me and my children would go skiing.  We found out later that it was kids in the neighborhood that went to school with one of my children so they knew when we were not going to be home.  Soooo what I did was I faked going away and I had a friend a very, very, very, big friend stay there in the dark and he waited for them and sure enough they showed up bold as brass they kicked in the front door and he sacred the you know what out of them and he detained them until police came and rather then sending them to jail they had to pay for repairs and make restitution for what they had stolen in the past, jewelry and coin collection.  After that I never had a problem and eventually moved. I did get alot of work completed to my house thanks to the  robbers.

After I was robbed and my jewels taken I never replaced them and stopped wearing them.

One hard thing to understand was that when you report it they just tell you it was kids who seal the jewlry for drug money.

Another time I got 1100 cash robbed in a drivers license branch. Im not so sure it was not the teller person taking your information.

I was to pay rent and insurance as my landlord was also my insurance agent.

I reported it and even talked to the detective and he said. Well did you learn your lesson about carrying cash?

Then once my mom was visiting me and like she always does. She wants what I have that I like. She took my box chain gold necklace. Years later she had my brother send me a jewlry box of cheap jewlry and my box chain necklace was in it.

We live with thieves and some of them family.

i'm so very sorry to hear about all your theft-victim experiences.  it does make one feel violated, doesn't it.  never had my house broken into (it's a great advantage of being relatively poor,  no serious thief would bother).  but some neighborhood urchins helped themselves one time when we weren't locking our doors.  they took a piggy bank (sentimental value) full off wheat pennies and other old coins, emptied another large jar of coins, a package of steaks from our freezer, and a briefcase to put it all in.  our son's street hocky stick was laid across our bed upstairs, presumably due to the fact that we had a dog at the time who didn't hesitate to bite people she thought needed it.  later we heard from another neighbor kid that one of the suspected culprits had a "wound" on his *bleep*, but he never told his mom about it.  wonder why?

I know how you feel. The same thing happened to me on June 2010 on which they broke through the front door! When I went home & saw the door a jarred my blood ran cooled. They ransacked the whole house. They only took the Flat screen tv my late husband had bought us for x-mas 2007. It was our first & only flat screen tv we've ever gotten. It hurt most because it was another special memory of what me & my husband had together when he was alive. It was like the robbers took  a piece of husband from me. Just as death had taken him from me completely. The police was a total joke. They didn't bother taking the desktop computer probably too old or the thousands of books that my husband had collected over a life time  ago. Now, probably worth over several thousands of dollars. I hoped that the flat screen tv would all so be recovered in a *bleep* shop as well but the police expected me to do their job for them. The police person assigned to my case left me a message, instructing me to call him, if I have more information in the case. What a total joke, & I have not heard from them since. I'm so sorry, for what happened to you. I felt really violated when this happened to me. This was also, the first time I ever been robbed. Maybe b/c in the past, I always had a mean look dog living in the house. Even though the dog was a complete chicken, a dog the size of a small pony probably discourages any kind of home invaders. The door repair also cost me 100+ dollars & I now have a double lock. Thanks for letting me vent b/c I am still reeling from this negative experience.  >:(

I never had experience being robbed but I see it most of the time in our place. I feel sorry to the rubber because those are just things exchange for being who he is and surely suffer for it that later on. Hope your not mad or angry by now. Just think this way, those are just things that you can still find or work for it later and your still alive, nobody got's hurt. Then learn from that experience, be alert if you can afford security measure like alarm on the house. We know in this world are all temporary so cheer up, be brave and stand again.

I wish you luck on recovering your items, I live in a small rural community and have had blankets, food and other items stolen from the house, makes me mad because one of the blankets can not be replaced since my grandmother made it for me (she has passed on) it is just so frustrating  :BangHead:and it never seems to help to lock the doors! Reminds me of a saying that my father always said "locks are only to keep the honest people out"
