Title: how often do you see your parents?
Post by: sherieann_glino08 on July 05, 2010, 12:37:00 pm: i mostly love talking about time cause it really affects all of us..and will always be a part of our life..now when was the last time you visited your parents? or perhaps called them..we've been too busy and has been working all the time and it can't be blamed but won't a few minutes to call them or say hi be a bother..think of the times i mean almost most of our parents life spent to us..i think we still owe to them what we have now so think of visiting them whenever you have time i know no matter how busy we are we'll still should have time for them..so how about calling them and saying hi for a while..

You are right that time is always with us and we are busy....but I always call them.

We try to get to their house two to three times per year.

My brother died at age 30 a few years ago and since then i've talked to them daily.

Post by: dell9031 on July 05, 2010, 03:19:26 pm: Mom passed away in 1999 from lymphatic cancer when she was 50. Dad remarried to a "twit" thereafter. They are perfect for one another.
Mom held family together.
Have not spoken to my father in a while.
My wifes parents both died in last 4 years from alcohol related diseases, never spoke to them for that reason anyways. Tough times.
My wife and are both 40 year old healthy professionals. Married for almost 20 years. Children are 16 and 10.

It would have been nice to have normal in-laws, grandparents, close extended family, living relatives.
But my litlle family has each other and very close friends.

But one asks , what is normal?, our extended family are our friends, and living relatives can just get busy living or get busy dying.....

Enjoy the fact you all get to pick up a phone and make a call....

Not a very good excuse but hard to find the time!! Get there when we can!! I takl to my Mom every other day on the phone. My Dad not as often...maybe once a month.

I saw them everyday because I live with them. :)

Post by: wbarth on July 12, 2010, 05:10:56 am: I just heard stories here that really make me realize how sad live is, parents are important in our lives, I know we get angry with them, we disagree with them, we fight with them, we can have tough times with them... but at the end they are our parents and we know they loves us and we love them... we are attach to them someway and we should remain in contact with them even though we disagree with them... nobody is perfect nor even parents.
My parents are alive, my mother is living with me for now, and my father lives far away but we talk once a week at least on the phone, my in-laws are alive and they lives in PA I talk to them only on special ocasions, but my husband does almost everyday.

I really wish I could see them more often, but because work schedules and what not, it's a bit difficult. They only live like 15 minutes away, so it's good to know that they are in close proximity. Actually, I'm going on vacation with them in a couple weeks, so I will be seeing them for like a week straight! ;D

Sometimes i take her lunch because her work is about 15 minutes away from my house. We talk on the phone too. i go over to her house when she needs a ride anywhere and I have to have to go over for special occasions ;D So it's at least a couple times a month, but there was a time when I didn't get to see her for a while because I didn't have money for gas.

Post by: sherieann_glino08 on November 11, 2010, 12:18:01 am: I really admire people who always look back to where they came from, I mean giving respect and love to the parents who has sacrificed most of their lives in taking care of us. That's true we often fight with them but notice that even if they got hurt they'll still do good things to you. Now that were the parents we know how they felt when we were answering them back or when their asking us not to do stuff. I miss my dad, though he left us since I was 10 years old because of stroke. We can never tell until when we'll be with them, so as much as possible tell them ho much you love them and for sure they'll be as happy as ever.

atleast once week weather by phone or text because he lives in a different city than I do and I usually talk to my mom about twice a week and she usually calls me but I think I'll call her more thanks :wave: :thumbsup:

It's a really big responsibility and a lifetime commitment to our children, no matter what happens will still love and nourish them, I know most of our parents had a hard time on us and they still tried to give everything to us we just didn't realize that it's really hard we never even thought of putting ourselves to their shoes despite we fight back and make things worser for them. I wish all of us could love our parents the same way they sacrificed and loved us..

Post by: jkhanson on November 11, 2010, 04:28:38 am: I don't get to see my parents as often as I would like. They live only 3 hours away but I work every other weekend and time becomes hard to get away. We have grandkids nearby and far away too so we have to travel to see them.

I do talk to Mom every week. Dad may join us on the line, but not always.

I wish technology had been as advance then as now because we were separated by great distances and phone calls were very expensive but we were still close and I miss them every day. I have always made it a point to drop everything when my grandkids call and want something because my time with them is so precious.

She was living in Puerto Rico for about two years. Now she's come back to Pennsylvania to stay. I love that because I missed her so much. She's just crashing at my place until she can find a place of her own.

Let's not waste time fighting with them or ignoring them, lets say how much we love them while there's still time :thumbsup:

I just moved to Florida from Wisconsin and have been getting settled so I haven't had time to get back home. I'll be seeing them for Christmas along with the rest of my family. But I do talk to 1 of my sisters about 4 times a week and to my mom about 4 times a month.

Post by: catdula on November 15, 2010, 11:12:41 am: I see my dad everyday. We work together. I see mom about once a week at the Legion where we have family meals together. And she keeps the baby for a couple hours once a week so I can have time with my step son alone. It helps our relationship.
