MY DAUGHTER START SCHOOL WEDENSDAY SHE TURNS FOR IN JAN SO I AM SENDING HER TO SCHOOL A LIL EARLY IN DC
-
My mom has always had all of us go to bed at 7 on school nights [until we were like 13!], but my dad has my 6 year-old and my 8-year-old sister going to b ed at 8:30, but theyre a pain to get up... I dont think its strange that a 3-year-old is going to school. I went to a private school at 2-3 years old
-
@ madaho~ the 3 yr old maybe in preschool.
When I had my older kiddos in preschool they went to bed at 830 on a school night. They are now going in 1st and 3rd grades and they will be going to bed by 8-830 the latest. As a mom of 3 boys and who taught preschool for 13 yrs I recommend putting them to bed no later than 830 earlier if needed.

ok thank you i am a single mom thats why i asked and she is the oldest.
-
stay up allnight
that what i wanted to do when i was
younger,but i say 8pm is good.

You have to consider the amount of sleep they are getting. Kids usually need at least 8 hours of sleep. Some studies have suggested that kids and teens really need 9 or 10 hours sleep. Base this on what time they are going to bed and getting up.

Well as you being the parent when you say. 8pm is plenty late. Really you need to be the one to stipulate time of bed not the child. My best friends kids tell he when they are and aren't going to be and that is not right at all. I told her are you the parent then you tell them not them tell you. Please don't let this happen to you. Her kids are very rude and mean to her. :angry7: :cat:

i say around 7 to 8 pm is perfect.
-
Are you talking about a 3 year old child? I assume that is what you are referring to, and all I wanna know is why is a kid going to school at the tender age of 3?

@ Nisha~ Glad to be of some help. Congrats to you for taking care of your daughter on your own during these hard times we are having. Its tough when there are 2 parents there :) Good luck to you and your daughter this coming Wednesday on the First day of School.

I think it depends on what time she needs to wake up. Figure about 9 hours and I think you should be fine.
-
i have 5 children and i found 7-7:30pm is best.
-
Depends on what time you have to get everyone up and going to get everywhere. We found (after 4 boys) 7:30 was good for the little ones. But we had a lot of am juggling. Also gave a little give time later when they were older and stayed a little longer.

Well, you want your child to be well rested. Getting up in the morning and having breakfast is a challenge for some adults. However, if you work and have to get your child to daycare or school; he or she lose sleep, so it's best to get them in some kind of routine where there are going to bed at a rsspectable time to be well rested in the morning.

I would say 8pm thats what time my three year old goes down for bed and he gets up at 6am and is in a great mood..
-
I would say 8pm but no later than 9pm would be a good time. It also depends if they have a nap during the day but even so I would go no later than 9pm.
-
i say as a mom of 5 lay em down at 7:30 and they should be asleep by 8 .
-
id say 7 or 8 at the latest. id love to have my two year old in bed at 7 but we live with my dad and he always wakes her up and she's up until about 2 am. its ridiculous.
-
Kids need plenty of rest. I remember my aunt would tell us to go to sleep at 8p.m. But I think that the best time for a child to go to sleep and be fresh for the next day would be 7:30 p.m

I AGREE WITH LEEBRA, think of the amount of sleep they get, if she goes to school, she definitely needs a nap, what i do is, take to bed not later than 9pm, gets up by 7-7.30am and again when she comes back at 3pm from 3.30pm to 5.30 i give her a nap that will sure help them, that is 12 hrs, thatz what is needed upto 4 to 5 yr depends, my older 1 she doesnt need 12 hrs shez ok with 10 hrs of sleep, but she will definitely goes to sleep by 8.30-9pm usually i try to take them to bed at 8.30 but, sleeps only by 9pm the problem is i had to stay with them in the bed till they sleep so 1/2 hr time is wasted for me.

Both my 5 year old and 8 year old go to bed at 7pm through the week.
-
I have a three year old starting school tomorrow and she goes to bed at 7 everynight
-
Mine have always went to bed at 9pm on the weekdays. Weekends they go to bed when I do or right away if they get in trouble after 9pm.
-
i send to bed at 7 unless shes hard to get up in the morning then 6 ;D

You should base it on what time they need to get up as well as how much sleep they need to be refreshed... If they don't have enough sleep, they'll be tired the next morning. But too much sleep can also make them feel groggy. Usually kids need 9-10 hours of sleep... So if you need to get them up by 6 to get them to school by 7, then getting them to bed by 8 is about perfect; 8pm-6am = 10 hours minus up to an hour just to get to sleep and they're still in that 9-10 hr range. If, on the other hand they aren't going to be getting up till 8 (with school starting at 9) then they could stay up till 9 or 10 and still be refreshed for the next day. Then again you may also want to wake them up more than just an hour before school starts, in which case they should get to bed earlier accordingly.
You may also want to gauge it with the sunset, esp. in the more northern areas where there is a greater shift in the amount of sun-lit hours. During the winter, you're probably safe to get them to bed by 7, but come the summer months, 7 may still seem bright as day, and the young kids won't understand why they have to go to bed "so early". Also if they have a strong circadian rhythm, they may be afflicted by SAD (Seasonal Affected Disorder) so that they'll be unable to get to sleep early, no matter how early they're sent to bed. If that is the case, you may need to invest in thick window covering so that their circadian rhythm won't be reset by the light and they can continue to get to sleep shortly after they are put to bed. You may also relent and allow them to stay up later in the summer months, so an 8 bedtime during the winter becomes a 9 bedtime come May...

Eight o'clock is the perfect time to go to bed at three years of age it insures that they'll be well rested without waking up in the middle of the night.
