Title: What’s your computer setup?
Post by: superteacher on August 31, 2010, 08:38:32 pm
Is window 7 really better deal than Vista? I am planning to change my operation system in my desktop because vista intends to crash a lot and I was told that window 7 more stable and less likely to crash. Any good comments?

I've heard nothing but good things about windows 7 from my friends (mostly tech people).  I tried to avoid Vista like the plague, and have been very happy with my XP systems.  I did get a work laptop that came with Vista pro version, and it seems okay - however Vista hid a lot of control files and renamed a bunch of admin panels - so I now have to search the web to figure out where they put all that stuff to do upgrades and config changes I need.

I'm looking into upgrading my desktop and laptop in the not too distant future - I'm looking forward to playing around with Windows 7 myself.

I still have XP. I've been afraid to try Windows 7. I don't even like IE8, changed it back to IE7...I guess I don't like change too much. Speaking of Computers, what is the best browser to use?

I have XP on both my laptop and desktop. I don't upgrade when I don't need to so XP will probably stay on these computers until its time to get a new one.

I have windows XP on my desktop and Vista came with my laptop.  I have never had trouble with vista or XP crashing or any real problems.  They may say that windows 7 or 8 is better, but I think I will wait and see.  If its not broken, why mess with a good thing.

That really depends on what you like.  For everyday browsing I use Chrome, For FC I use Firefox or IE.  It seems some surveys and offers don't credit well when using chrome.  For everyday browsing I like the setup and design and speed of Chrome. Best feature I like about chrome is the ability to save thumbprints of the websites you visit frequently on your next tab or even as your homepage.  Sure you can use favorites and bookmarks with IE and Fire Fox but I still like chrome for that. So I use three different browsers for different things.

vista came with my computer.i don't have any problems with that. we can optimize windows vista for better performance
1)Delete programs u never use
2)Limit how many programs load at start up
3)Defragment your hard drive(Disk Defragmenter rearranges fragmented data so your hard disk can work more efficiently)
4)clean up your hard disk
5)Run fewer programs at the same time
6)Turn off visual effects(go to control panel click system and maintenance, click Performance information and Tools, click visual effects tab, click adust for best performance and then click ok)
7)Try restarting if there is problem
8)Add more memory
9)Check for viruses and spyware
10)check your computer speed
11)check for updates from manufacturer
Hope this helpful.

I have a Dell and Window XP, a old one, but good enough for me to make some FC bonus.
