Title: Happy New Year!
Post by: amyrouse on September 05, 2010, 02:06:59 pm
OK...before you think to yourself "uh...amyrouse has finally lost it...its September..."

I haven't gone crazy.  Wednesday night is the beginning of Rosh Hashanah for the Jews...marking the beginning of the Jewish new year and the Days of Awe.  For more info: http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday2.htm and http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday3.htm (and, no, I will not be sacrificing a chicken this week; I'm a Reform Jew and vegetarian)

In honor of this most important holiday for me...I would like to make some apologies.
* Marie...I apologize for being harsh with you, baiting you, and for everything I will most likely say in the future toward you.  Just because I don't agree with many of the things you say and how you conduct yourself in this forum does not mean that you are not a person who deserves to be treated badly.  I can only apologize for myself, and for any personal attacks I have made against your character.  I will do my best to only debate with you when I disagree with you.
* Mack...I apologize for calling you singular and with the tone I have used in debating with you.  All I can say is that it honestly has nothing to do with you as a person, and I can see a future for you as a valuable member of this forum.
* Annella...I truly love you and your kindness.  Sometimes my words when I debate and disagree can sting, and I apologize if I have ever hurt you with them.

To anyone else on this forum...if I have said anything to you to hurt you in anyway, please let me know so I can apologize.  I believe it is important that we all respect each other as human beings, no matter how differing our opinions may be.

So...L'shanah tovah!  Shalom!   :peace:

I know this is going to sound so weird, but I am so excited about this holiday.  This is one of my favorite times of year to go to my temple and participate in services, even though it is the most spiritually taxing time of year.  Plus, it falls right around my daughter's birthday.  I hope she grows to love it as much as I do!

I may not believe as you do, but I don't think it is 'weird' at all for you to be excited about something that has so much meaning for you. Enjoy! ;)

Hmm, should I have kept my well wishes to myself? I certainly didn't mean/want to offend you. :dontknow:

You by no means offended me, jordandog.  I'm sorry if it came across that way.  Thank you, too!

My heart is full and happy tonight.  I highly enjoyed the services, and I find it interesting that tonight the rabbi's sermon reflected much of what I have been saying over the last couple months here on FC.  To me, this is a great affirmation that I have found my religion, and the funny thing is that I have seriously considered the idea of attending rabbinical school for years.  I have far to go, though, before I will be ready to make that commitment.  :D  I have hope that anyone else who is searching for their own answers will find what they need, whether or not it is religion.

Ahh, don't apologize, the forum clearly states"enter at your own risk!"
If people can't take it, that's okay, stick to your guns and continue to debate. It's what makes the world go round!!!!!!!!!
