My son just turned 3 and I can tell you  one thing... Sometimes the terrible twos lasts longer, but he is getting better as he is able to understand more now.
Enjoy him even if he is nody sometimes, time goes fast. Sometimes what  they only want is our attention. I do discipline him with time out and time to cool off, but don't stress too much about it. It's the age and it'll pass. If you are really concerned you can  always talk to  his Doctor. It's helped me a lot!  :binkybaby:

When kids think you are just playing, they will take you up on it. I hopew that's all it was. I also hope you let your 2 year old know that throwing the book was not to be done again ever.

My son is 2 years old too. He is just starting to go through what is considered, "the terrible 2's". Everyone knows when he is in a building or even a parking lot....and not in a good way let me tell you!!  :sad1:  One thing about it is that I laugh about it later when we get home and he is in a GREAT mood all of the sudden...lol. For an added bonus, no one forgets about him, because now if I go somewhere by myself, people are like "Where's that baby?" Boy, I sure do love him but I hope this stage passes quickly!!  :-[ ;D

I have a vague memory of kicking at my father once when I was very small and breaking his glasses. I think I was probably about 2 at the time. Felt really bad about it so I guess that is why I still remember it.

Kids are something else. I have a 3 year old and sometimes I think he's too smart for his own good. One day I went into his room and all his books were piled in the middle of his room. I asked him what he was doing with all the books out. He said reading them. I said you read one book at a time and then put it away. He said he was reading them all at the same time. I told him just get your books picked up or I'm gonna spank your butt. He said Mom why don't you just spank my butt and then you pick up the books.  :o I was totally trying to be mad while trying not to laugh. I could not believe he said that. Another classic one from him was when I said there had better not be a mess in your room when I go in there. So he ran over and shut his door, came back, and said then just don't go in there mom. I just don't know where he gets this stuff.

Enjoy while you can!  My 3 are all teenagers now and there is not a day go by that I don't wish I could have them little again!  The teen dramas and issues are much worse and they are much more expensive!!!!

I would give anything to have them all be 2 again even if it was all at the same time!!!

Just went through the terrible two with my youngest who is now 3 and I must say after 5 kids the terrible two never end they do not out grow the terrrible twos, they just get a bigger vocabulary to go with their terrible whatever age.

I have a 3 year old daughter and she hit the terrible 3's twice as bad as the terrible two's.  Now what she does is if I tell her no she runs to daddy and asks him and when he asks her what did mommy say?  She replies mommy said yes. :o She also has been having those temper tantrums in the store when she doesn't get her way.  I have tried all types of dicsipline but nothing works.  I am so stressed! :sad1:  Not to mention that I feel like I cannot take her anywhere without her misbehaving.  And I do not spoil her.  I just don't know where she gets it from.  And don't even get me started on the back talk. ::) I hope this passes ASAP!

When my children were little, my oldest daughter would bite her little sister.   I could not keep her from doing it.  So one day I bite her and bite hard and she never bite her sister again.

Ahhh yes they will mature eventually!  When they are over 18 and have a family of their own and come to you and say....Mom....I am soooo sorry for the way I acted when I was this age!

My oldest is 18 and he has yet to mature completely!  He leaves for the airforce in June!

Ouch! Kids will be kids.  I have 6 of my own, and I have been through all most everything....and I'm nowhere near done, my youngest is 5 and my oldest is 19.

Enjoy each moment, painful or not...they grow up too darn fast!

My son has thrown books as well but very few times and only once at me.

Me: Why did you do that?

My son: I don't know.

Me: Do you like that book?

My son : yes.

Me: Do you want to read it again?

My son: yes.

Me: Then don't throw it again.

My son: I'm sorry mommy.

This only works for me because I have taken toys away from him before so he knows that it will be a long time before he gets to see it again. We have had a little trouble with him throwing things besides books but we also allow him to throw "soft" *bleep* in the house so it's all about teaching him what is okay to throw and what isn't. But he knows that if you throw something at someone who is not playing  with you it is not okay and he will be scolded or in time out depending on what he threw. Throwing things in a tantrum is an immediate time-out.

I know it's hard but try to enjoy this time. They will test you every day but they will only be this age once! Something that I have to remind myself of often. LOL
