It's not always ideal but rent a room would be well below that? Those tend to be month to month.  Best of luck!

Good luck in finding  something that you can afford.  It will be pretty hard to find an apartment in WA for $500.  Hopefully other options are open to you.

I live in a different state but I can tell you what I told my niece when she was looking for a rent in that range.  Start by looking in some of the fliers at the local colleges, and stores.  Try looking at a couple of the websits that they have out.  A room may be one way but if you didn't want to do that what about rooming with someone else.  Also to save some money look for a rent that is a little higher but includes everything.  My niece could not find something in that range but she was able to find something about 550. but it includedd everything  lights heat and cable.  So the only bill she has is the rent and her phone.  So that is somethig might want to try

I live in WA state.  There are places, you just have to keep looking.  I am not sure where you are at here in Washington, but since you have internet access - go online to and look at the local newspaper ads, the penny press, or the giant nickel.  You can also do a search on Craigslist.  I hope this helps :)

Well, I do have a 1 bedroom apartment here in WA State and my rent is only $229 a month. It also includes cable too. I get half of my income from working part time and the other half from Social Security. So, I make about $800 a month. Anyways, I live in a apartment building where only the old and disabled folks can live. I get to stay here because of Social Security. My situation is that I may lose Social Security and won't be able to stay here anymore. So, the next best option for my apartment manager is to put me in another apartment where the rent will be $600 a month and I can't afford that without Social Security. Anyways, I would hate to move back with my mom because it took me long enough to move out as it is. I don't have anything against my mom. I just like to keep moving forward and not backwards. Thanks everyone for all your help and advice :)

We in IA in a 3 bedroom apartment and pay $385 a month (no assistance).  Maybe you could check in and see if you are eligible for rent assistance which may help get your rent under $500.

unless you are looking to be a roommate, $500 for rent probably isn't reasonable.

I live in New York so I really can't help you there.  But I'll tell you this, the only thing you can find out here for under $500 is renting a room.  So good luck in finding an entire apartment.

Yeah, there is not much of a option for us low income people. I would like to stay here until I get enough money for some land or a home. I guess, I might have to leave sooner than I expected.

we had the gas workers move in to our area and theyre killing us locals. the apartment owners and landlords have jacked up the prices so high that us normal wage making folks cant afford to live there anymore.

we have room mate and he is just coming here atleast twice a month lol, we loved it! we charge him $700 before but now only $500, he have his own bathroom, can use the pool and  spa, have his own tv, internet is included, etc. Actually we are pretty lucky he is not here all the time, we have income coming in every month atleast $500. You cannot beat that.

It's a good thing you don't live in California.  $500 might rent you a hallway for a month.  Is that a picture of your dog?  a lot of Landlords won't rent to people with medium to large dogs.  Some will rent to those with a cat, and some won't rent to someone with even a fish.

You may have to move to another state if you don't want to live with your mom again.  There's nothing wrong with moving back home with mom.  It's not moving backward.  In this economy a lot of people are having to improvise to survive.  That's how you have to look at it.  At this point renting a room is your best option.  Renting a room in someone's house can be really great, or a disaster.  Be cautious, you don't want to be in a worse situation that your in already.

Do you mind if I ask why you are losing your SSI?  Usually they don't take that back without good reason.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I don't have a clue why they wanna take my SSI. Maybe, its because I'm a adult now and they don't think I need it anymore. They were planning to take it away when I was 18 and I'm now 24yrs old. I can't even get a lawyer to help me because Social Security wouldn't give them much money. I went to a Mental Health place yesterday and they said that they will help me. So, I guess we will see what will happen now.
