??? I dont know about anyone else But I sure get alot of Dryer Lint-
There are 5 adults and 1 child here the dryer is always going..
2 Horses with there own laundry "horse blankets"
For some reason I always get stuck cleaning up dryer lint of the floor on the dryer. in the dryer everywhere-
I looks like its almost alive :-
Piles and piles of it.
Just recently I wondered (ok the truth I was bored with Lota time on my hands) and 3 glasses of wine :o
if you could use this "Dryer Lint" for any good purpose and this is what I have found out.
I googled it!
You can make clay with it.
Paper mache, fire starters, bird nests, worm bedding, plant starting medium. It can also be added to potted house plants to keep in the moisture. Decorations even yarn ( not that I would knit with it ???(well MaYbeeeee :-X..
Stuffing for cat toys pin cushions too :- (hmmmmmm)
I would love to hear your thoughts and Ideas on Dryer Lint....

I can attest that it works great for strating fires.

Never thought dry lint can have so many uses! I did hear about that it can go in compost. There is only three of us at our place; I will use it for cat toy stuffing now that you mention it when it accumulates more. Thanks for the ideas with dryer lint! ;D

Never thought of this - thanks for the post. I may start collecting my lint vs throwing it away, to see what I can do with it. Like the idea of the pin cusions and potted plants ideas.

We feed birds so we always have lots of them around. I put dryer lint out for them to use to make their nests. It doesn't take long for it to disappear but it's best not to try putting it out if there's rain in the forecast.

Haha... I've never thought about reusing lint... But I guess that is a valid concept. Esp. since if you consider that the lint is found in the dryer -- the place immediately after it was washed -- you know that the lint is probably clean! I've got a mastiff so I understand about the "horse" hair being in the lint; I'd probably not use that as much... But for me its usually just my socks that pick up my dog's hair, so with other colors (or better yet, my jean loads) I'd be tempted to reuse it.
I could see your business venture now: first you'd have a web-site with different pages describing techniques for using lint. Then it'd start to move into describing different types of lint, perhaps grouping it on color or material type (now that I think about it, perhaps there'd be a niche for horse-hair lint (for making a stiffer pin-cushion filling vs. using cotton lint for stuffed-animal filling)). Maybe have a trading post where members could donate their lint and get credits (based on quality, amount, texture / color, rarity, etc.) that they in turn could use at the trading post to "purchase" lint for their own needs. Heck if inventory really started growing, you might be able to expand by hooking up with some stuffed-animal manufacturer, and allowing people to cash out their trading post credits for actual money...

Hahahaha...I never thought about recycling dryer lint, I just chuck it in the garbage.

I always have a lot of dryer lint, never thought about keeping it.I might try using it for something now.

i hate cleaning out the lint trap everytime i have to use it, why is it that other people who use it cant clean it out? lol it just boggles my mind it doesnt make sense

i would have to say that putting in with your camping gear for a fire starter would be the best purpose for it. thinking of all the nasty stuff thats in it, i really dont want it around the house.

We have a lot of dryer lint too, I'd only used it to start fires but now I have more ideas. Thanks. You should try them out.

who knew you could do so much with dryer lint.... what would we do without google????
I like the idea of adding to my plants. I wonder how it would work for insulation in my flower bed......
