Is the price of gas hurting anyone else?

Luckily I always budget more for gas than need be, but these prices certainly aren't going to help anything.  They went up nearly 20 cents overnight where I'm at.

speculation on what might happen spooks the market everytime like they needed another excuse to raise  it a quarter in one day.

Gas here was $2.99 here and yesterday it went up to $3.04 and then last night it was $3.19.  I just wonder where it is going to end going up.  People are going to get where they can't afford to buy it just to get to work.

In July-Sep  2009 the gas price here was 4:36 I remembered that because we had to travel to Atlanta twice one in July and the other one because we were evacuating because of Gustave (The hurricane) and I think the gas price would hit this limit again because of what's happening in the middle east and if this happen in the Gulf countries the gas price would raise and raise and raise

that is great that you walk 12 miles a day.

I am not real healthy right now it seems to me as compared to what I have been able to do.

I do a lot more then others so in that respect Im sure I am still healthy.

I just have lots of pain and keep on doing whatever I can which is less than what I could do a year ago even.

I dont want to have to get a new knee. I want to be able to rebuild them myself.

Then I could walk 12 miles. cause I used to walk 3 hours on the elliptical.

That is the same prices here, I saw it was $3.19 this morning too. We must be in the same town. I am in Fort Worth Texas. I keep telling my spouse I want a bicycle, but he don't think it is safe.  :peace:

I had been driving slower for the past few months anyway because of gas prices.  Thankfully I only have to drive to work twice a week which is an hour and 1/2 both ways plus $4 in tolls.  For the past few years I've only been letting the tank get to half a tank so it's a little less painful in my wallet to fill up all the way.  Now I will think about taking the train to work if it fits in with my schedule.

Gas prices in my area jumped from $3.19 yesterday to $3.29 today.
In the neighboring town, it ranges from $3.18 to $3.43.

OUCH!

I am glad my commute to the job is only 2 miles and the commute to my online business is just down the stairs!

Is the price of gas hurting anyone else?

It certainly has affected me and I do not drive very much as I am retired but if I want to go any where visiting neighbor or friends I have to think twice about it as I do watch my grandsons 2 days a week and lately I have had to ask my daughter for gas money What is this all coming to lines and odd and even days to fill up  Crazy Crazy Public transportation seems to becoming a better option

Gas prices is always a way to control people. Keep prices high on food, gas and everything else so no one can get ahead! its a politicians game to control the peope. Think about it.. if we dont have the money to organize, and afraid we cant pay bills or food, then how would we ever think about marching on washington to tell them we had enough?

I saw today that gas was at $3.25! It's getting ridiculous....the government really should do something...the higher the gas prices climb, the worse our economy gets because no one wants to spend money on anything extraneous when they have to worry about being able to put gas in the car just to get to work. I think that fixing gas prices could boost our economy immensely. Just ask yourself- if it only cost $20 to fill up your car each week, what would you do with that extra money? Go to the movies? Buy your kids new clothes? Go visit family? Seriously....why don't they think of that? Bunch of morons!

Yes the gas prices have definitely hurt our budget at home.  With the hint of any kind of trouble in the oil rich middle east, the gas companies jump all over the opportunity to raise the prices.  You can bet your bottom dollar that the oil companies will have banner profits at the end of the first quater of 2011.

Not terribly, but I have a five mile commute on most days.  However, when I do my extra gigs, it is killing me.  I actually ran out of gas on the highway the other night.  Trying to squeeze the last bit before I refilled.   Not the brightest move, but hilarious!    :BangHead:

With the way gas prices are going we are all going to be walking or riding a bike.  I had to pay 3.59 a gallon yesterday for gas.  I am starting to look into other ways to get discounts on the gas.  They are saying that the price of gas will be up to 5.00 a gallon by summer.  I told my son the other day that he better getting his walking shoes on.

These insane gasoline prices will help spur alternate fuel car sales. Might finally kill off the RV industry. Imagine traveling in an RV at 10 miles per gallon and $5 per gallon gas. So much for seeing the USA in your Chevrolet.

Don't even get me started.  Gas hit $3.45 by my house today.  It is ridiculous the US has to worry about what some dicator in Libya does.  We have got to come up with a solution to this.  I went to the grocery store last week and everything was up 10 cents.  If it gets much higher I don't know what I'm going to do.

Just refreshing this post cuz, our gas around here has went up @ 20 cents in the last week. Whoa. They say it is just gonna get worse. This is getting really rough to even afford to go anywhere and do anything cuz, you can't afford the gas.

Is funny all the different excuses that they will use to raise the price of gasoline.  But none of the excuses are really the reason which is that the gas prices are being driven by profit seeking companies trying to make a buck like everybody else.  Not saying that it is a good thing.  But it is not a bad thing.  Just quit buying the gas and watch how quick the prices drop when demand goes down.

I am active in my kids schooling and they are active in school so going back and forth to activities can be costly.

Tough luck, you motorist!

Just kidding! I'm actually a bicyclist, so gas prices don't impact me at all. My family utilizes motors and I contribute to gas for them sometimes, normally when we're all going out somewhere. I like to help out (and why not? I'm getting a ride too!). But for personal travel, I hit my mountain bike. One day I'll by a road bike and really pick up some speed. Ha! But riding is really fun. Not so much in the sun, but at least I can appreciate the outdoors and all kinds of weather. (Yes, even the rain.)

It sucks that gas prices can get out of control sometimes. Something so basic and necessary for most civilians living in America shouldn't get pricey.

Gas prices are hurting EVERYONE, but let's not act like victims. We've chosen not to get serious about alternatives to fossil fuels, causing us to run through our oil supply faster, which is driving up prices because we've now used up the oil that's cheap & easy to extract!. Since we had other, better choices & decided against them, we should not utter a word of complaint.

i wish i could bike or take some alternative transportation but it's not an option for me and my work, etc.
I just paid nearly $70 to fill up my tank at 3.75/gallon -- and that's the cheap 87 octane gas.
my hubby has to buy the more expensive gas so his really hurts the pocket book
Title: Re: Gas prices
Post by: mommagoes on April 17, 2011, 04:05:52 pm
thankfully i do not drive but my husband does have a v8 infiniti so we are starting to feel the higher prices. he used to fill up his tank once a week for about $40 and today he filled it up and it cost $63. luckily, we have also greatly reduced the amount of car trips we take and will soon be moving to a new house which will cut about 5miles off his current 16mile commute to work so that should help out too.

gas prices are ridiculous here. we went and out 10 in the truck today and the needle on the gage didn't even move. it would probably take about 80 to 100 dollars to fill it up. i remember when 10 bucks would fill up my car for 2 weeks, sigh i miss those days. i'm about ready to buy a horse and buggy.

I just love the fact that every time the news happens to say any word about gas prices, they go up another 20 cents... then they lower them back down to a penny or two above where they were the day after that. The news shouldnt say anything about the prices. Agreeably, they hear things, but why enforce the owners of the stations to JUMP the prices only to take them back down to a few cents above where they were? REDICULOUS!

Yes. 3.99 per gallon. I work 3 hour shifts. at 7.90 an hour before taxes. I work 9 days per pay check so 27 hours. I get 198 per check and put 50 to 60 in the gas tank at the current gas prices. it really does hurt to have to put 1/4 of my pay check into the gas tank. thats money i could be putting away to save for retirement or the wedding or for things the baby will need once he or she is here.
