A common fear of mine, I debate on going to the theater to see a movie with my Hubby. Good date yada yada but the movie is a big let down :( so we end up paying 40 some dollars to sit in the dark while I could have waited and rented it for 5 bucks and had a nice night in cuddling on the couch.
What about you guys? ???
-
I would much rather wait & buy the movie to enjoy over and over. Our theater is cheap now since there is a new bigger fancier one in the arera now but I would still much rather sit at home and watch in the comfort of my couch!
-
I don't think there is anything to fear. I enjoy going to the movies as soon as the movies come out- I just dont get to seee them all. Its how I unwind
-
I dont go to theaters i just dont s o ya i wait for dvd thanks
-
It depends on the movie as to if i see it in theaters or not. I dont mind going to the theater but it is so expensive so i usually wait till it comes out on dvd or whatever.
-
When I lived down the street from a movie theatre, I used to go twice a week. It is more expensive now, of course... so I usually rent at a Blockbuster kiosk now.
-
Once in a while seeing a film in the theaters is okay, but most of the time I wait until it comes out on dvd because it's more comfortable watching at home and affordable.
-
I'd rather rent, for the same reasons you said. It's too expensive these days, and too many movies are a let down.
-
I like going to the movie theaters to see movies (mainly because of the big screen) but I found it a better investment to buy yourself a movie projector and a nice surround sound system. If the family goes to see a movie at $7 a ticket, that is more than the dvd will be when it comes out in stores. Just wait, and you will have it to watch whenever you want and with your projector can watch it on the big screen! And good thing about buying the dvd is if you don't care for the movie, you can sell it and make some of the money back :)
-
There hasn't been any movie in the last decade that I have been anxious to see in a theater. I haven't been to the movies in a few years because they are too expensive. I'd rather wait and watch it online for free or rent it at Redbox.
-
As long as I see the movie...it really wouldn't matter.
-
Depending on the hype of the movie and the director and the actors and a whole other aspects then ill go see it in theaters but if it doesnt have the right aspects then i probly wont go and see it.
-
it depends on the movie if i am so excited about it I can't wait to see it, I go to the theater If I just wanna see it I wait to watch it on a DVD,
-
I don't even rent it. I wait until it comes out on HBO or Showtime and then watch it.
-
Haven't gone to movie theather for a while. I would rather wait till it comes out as dvd/blueray then enjoy it at home.
-
With todays economy, we are now waiting for the movie to be shown on TV. If I can wait till at least they come out on DVD's, then I can wait another month before they come out on the TV.
-
I like to see some of the action movies at the theater. The huge screen and sound are better and a decent crowd can make it more fun. Also some of the 3D ones have been cool. I do agree though that you really have to be picky or you end up wondering why you didn't just wait for the DVD.
-
I don't go to the movies and haven't been in somethin like 10 years. I just don't feel the need to pay such an insane price to go see a movie when I can just wait to get it and watch at home or a friends' house where it's more comfortable, quiet, and the snacks don't cost nearly as much. Lol Plus, I can pause it if I need a bathroom break.

NetFlix is the best
-
I would much rather wait for it to come out on DVD and save the money. Bowling or an outing with the kids to a museum or attraction would be a lot more worth the money for our family.
-
I don't go to the movie theater anymore for several reasons: 1. They are too expensive, 2. The floors are usually sticky and creepy feeling and 3. I always wait until they come out on DVD.

You make an excellent point! Spending that kind of money for a family to do something together would be much better spent on something where you all interact and enjoy each other's company in a more productive/bonding experience. Plus it gets everyone up and moving. :)

just go on netflix, its like what $10/month i think? its a better deal than anything
-
If the movie looks really good, and I don't want to wait for it to be released on DVD, then I will fork out the 10+ dollars to see it in the theater. The only thing is that when I see a movie in the theather, I have this crazy OCD need to get like a million snacks. I try to smuggle them in from other, less expensive stores, but there's only so much that my purse can hold! They always get you with that movie-theater style popcorn though.....there's nothing like it anywhere else. If these prices keep going up the way they are though, I don't care how good the movie looks, I will wait to order it through my cable provider for $4.95!
-
I usually wait till the dvd comes out (I'm a netflix subscriber). Because the movie price has gone up a lot even ever since I moved here to the States (it's been 7 years) and most of the movies are not worth $10 or whatever they charge you now. Especially recently the movie companies don't seem like they can make any more original movies. Pretty much comic books and sequel.
-
I take it one step further than that! I don't go see a movie in theaters and I don't buy or rent on dvd! I just wait until it cames on cable
-
It depends on the movie.
Something really epic, with great special effects - that I definitely want to see in the theater. Movies have gotten so expensive it's ridiculous, but for something really spectacular I don't mind paying the extra money. Thankfully, those are few and far between.
All the rest, I wait for DVD
-
There are only a couple movies a year that I would be tempted to go to the theater. If I go at all it's usually once a year. I much prefer watching at home with friends and family!
-
If there's a movie we want to see in theater, we go see it. However, we go to the first viewing the day we see it; the movie theater we go to has discounted prices during that time (I don't remember how much right now). Otherwise, we wait till it comes out on Netflix.
-
Economically I would wait to the DVD. Even better if you have on Demand, they have the same rates as renting in blockbuster so you don't have to leave home. Plus not get ripped off at the concessions stands.
-
go to theater
-
I'd lot rather go to the theatre, but i don't get to go very often.
-
I woulk rather wait till it comes out on dvd
-
Prefer waiting for them to come out on DVD. We usually buy as opposed to rent, because we can watch them more than once.
We do go out about once a year with friends to the theaters, just to socialize.
-
Waiting to rent it on DVD. I don't enjoy seeing movies in the theater.
-
I wait for the movie to come on dvd to rent. You save some money if you wait to see the movie on dvd. Now days going to the movies is very expensive for one person. ;D
-
Yeah, common problem I have too. Movies are so expensive these days to see in the theater. Most of the time I wait until they are out to rent. If there's one I really want to see, I'll go to the theater though.
-
it depends ...if its a really good quality and hyped up...watch it in the movie theatres.....but if just some new movie id rent it...i mean they come out with new movies every month
-
I'd rather see a movie on the big screen. The experience is just so much better, and it's not like I go to the movies constantly, anyway.
-
I always wait for it to come out on DVD. I like saving the money and I can always resell it if it is a flop.
-
Well there are lots of movies that are disappointing but I know darn well that movies directed or produced by steven spieldberg or james cameron are definitely going to be worth your time and money. So why not go watch it on the big screen. There's another sequel to the Fast and Furious movies do out this summer. I believe it's their fourth installment already. The previews look hot. Also there's another X-Men sequel coming out. Those are going to be really good. They never disappoint me anyway. Yes, I can also watch movies at home on my comfy couch with my hubby as well. It all depends on my mood. If I feel like going out, most likely I'm hitting up a movie theater. :-)
-
The last time my husband and I went to a movie was over 10 years ago for our anniversary. My husband fell asleep half way through the movie. We wait until the movie comes out on DVD and then we make it a special time with good food. The prices at the theater are ridiculous and the food is so not good. I dont take my children to the theater anymore either.
-
I rarely go to the theater, usually I wait fo DVD.
-
I love movies so I love to go to the theatre but I only do that with movies that I don't wait for them to come out on video. Movies are released to DVD so much faster than they used to be that its usually not that long of a wait anymore.
-
wait to it comes out on dvd cause i fall asleep everytime i go to the movies :-[
-
me personally i would rather wait till it comes out on dvd because the movie theaters are way to expensive for the price yall pay at the theater i can own it for almost that
-
there are just some movies that you have to watch in theaters (as in, you cant possible get the same experience in your living room), but those are very few in number, so yeah, buying/renting :)
-
i like netflixs best

Since I work at a movie theatre right now, I see them all the time!
As of now, I'm a little behind. At first, I would see everything (or almost everything) that came out. It's not just the movie but it's the experience. The screen, the food, the seats, all of it. I work at a really nice theatre so that helps! This is a moment I can't get at home on our screen. Now don't get me wrong, the feeling of being at home watching a movie with the comfort in your own household with your family is a special, wonderful moment. But it's just not the same! So I guess, for some, it may depend on what you want to do. Is the movie important enough to see it with family at home? Or an immediate rush to see it in theatres?
Either way, if you DO go to the theatre, try watching a showtime that'll have less capacity. Less people, better experience. That's something I've learned along the way! (Morning shows are usually less in price and guests.)
-
I like to go the the theater with my fiancee . We always have a good night and it is something that we do not do all the time.
-
I don't see a reason to go to a theater when the movies will be placed on a DVD. Then you can pay once and watch it as many times as you want and whenever you choose. It will probably also have "bonus" scenes which are just the scenes which were deleted from its theater run and saved for the DVD release.
-
I can't afford the dang movie theaters anymore! Mainly because when we do go, I take my )6) kids - by the time
we pay for the tickets, popcorn, and a soda (which we all share!) I've lost 3 months of Fusion Cash money! LOL
I wait and rent them from the $1 rental boxes 8)
-
unless it's a movie that I really wanna see, then yea I go to the movies. But other than that, I just wait...I usually don't see movies that much
-
I prefer watching movies on dvd instead of going to theaters.
-
I was never a big movie buff. But, ever since I discovered IMAX 3-D movies I always take the time to go. I get excited to go to a big IMAX movie and become a little kid again. I watch a lot of movies for work and pleasure! I found the best way to rent movies is to do the Blockbuster through the mail. I must watch at least five movies a week and I still have a full-time job, go to school and cook every night. Movies are just something I really enjoy; if I didn't love my job so much I would direct a movie. Great topic!!!
-
Me personally I like to wait until movies are out on dvd. Its not that I don't enjoy the theater Its the people in the theater that upset me sometimes. If I pay my money I like to be able to enjoy the movie without distractions from people gasping, coughing, laughing or :crybaby2: . IDK just my opinion.
-
Netflix is probably the cheapest way to see movies as long as you don't mind being patient and waiting for big blockbusters to come out on dvd instead of seeing them in theater.
But the theater has it's perks. I find it more entertaining to watch horror movies in theaters. There's just something about sitting in a room with 50 other people screaming their heads off that makes the movie that much better to watch. :p
-
Since we got Netflix, my husband and I don't go to theaters much. Also, the last time we went, I lost my wallet.
-
A common fear of mine, I debate on going to the theater to see a movie with my Hubby. Good date yada yada but the movie is a big let down :( so we end up paying 40 some dollars to sit in the dark while I could have waited and rented it for 5 bucks and had a nice night in cuddling on the couch.
What about you guys? ???
that just described my date last sunday. got my sister to come watch the kids so no cost for babysitting but $20 for gas,$35 for dinner and $25 at the theater for a movie that had to be one of the biggest let-downs of my life. we never go out to the movies, prefer to wait til they come out on netflix, but we were both quite excited at the prospect of being scared by "insidious" a movie that almost everyone i know had said was the scariest movie ever. when the movie ended and the lights came on i am sure that the look on my husbands face was an exact replica of the one on mine: bored, disappointed, disinterest. the movie industry will not see a dime from me for a loooong tim
-
I like going out to the movies if it's something I really want to see, but I also like renting and staying home.
-
most of the time i wait till it comes out on dvd but on occasion i'll go see one in the movies
-
At the moment i don't go to the movies because im attending college and work full time. But i watch netflex and order movies on demand because its cheaper to stay in and order.
-
It really depends on the movie. If I'm not sure if I'll like it, then I'll wait. Otherwise I'll go see it in theater.
