There are lots of reality TV show out there today and of the very few I've seen I don't like them. Can someone explain the appeal of these type of shows?
-
Not in my opinion. I find it to be mostly exploitive and ridiculous.
I just cant get into reality or staged reality shows.
-
Honestly I think they're funny. Most of them anyway. I guess it's interesting to see how low some people are and how they make fools of themselves.
-
I don't bother with any of them.
-
I can't really explain why I love reality shows so much...other than because they are "real" and that is more interesting to me than a scripted show. However, there are some (most) reality tv shows that are mostly scripted but try to look natural and real and that is just annoying. "The First 48" used to be my favorite reality show, it follows homicide detectives working real murders. I also love "The Real Housewives of..." on Bravo

The value in reality tv is to get a good laugh. I personally don't believe that all of "reality" tv is real though.
-
I think the appeal is suppose to be that we can relate to these people. They are supposed to be ordinary individuals living their life and their circumstances out on the t.v. Sadly, though, these shows are staged because, let's be honest, without the drama, violence and suspense, no one would really watch the shows. If a reality show were to show up at my house, the ratings would be pretty low:)

I think reality TV is a great examply for todays society of who not to be.
-
um...
no.
-
idk...i don't really have time/interest to watch them!
-
i know i get sucked into some of the shows on TruTV, but ever since my converter box stopped working i haven't watched much tv and i don't really miss it other than watching divorce court in the mornings. used to watch the price is right but i got over that too.
-
No the reality is that its not real. Too many networks are telling their actors/actresses too fight to boost ratings. I do like top model but not shows that have no point to make.
-
I like shows like American Chopper, *bleep* Stars and American Pickers....But ones like DWTS, AI...ireally don't care for
-
No. Why watch it on tv, when you can see most of that stuff at your public park ;D
-
I don't watch any of them. Never have.
-
No. I see enough disfunctional people as it is.

I do like "reality TV" like Survivor, Big Brother, and America's Next Top Model. I know they aren't real, but I still find them entertaining. The appealing aspects of Survivor (my favorite) are the whole manipulations and challenges. I love to see how people use one another, break or keep promises, and make the social moves of the game. Timing your moves right is what sets all of the drama into motion. I think it would be fun to be able to mess with people's heads and backstab with no real consequences in life. I mean if it is for entertainment and part of game, why not?! And it is just fun to see how different people from different lifestlyes interact with each other. It is great to see a country boy and city slicker hit it off. But the challenges are my favorite part to watch. I have always like obstacle courses, puzzles, and things like that so its entertaining for me to watch them. I know it is mostly all staged, but I am still very much addicted.

Some people are absorbed by the drama and excitement of them. Personally I would rather not watch drama in reality television since life has enough drama without adding to it. I like upbeat and comedic shows most of the time
-
No!!!
-
I do watch all the train wrecks on Bravo but don't watch any competitive shows unless it's Top Chef or Project Runway, and that's to get ideas!
-
I enjoy The Amazing Race very much and Undercover Boss is interesting. Most of the reality shows seem to end up with people being mean and spiteful to each other so I mostly don't watch any others.
-
No. I use to watch Dancing With The Stars but they are a complete and total FARCE!
-
I used to watch survivor (first two seasons), It sought of got real stupid after that. I have not any reality shows since. I think the more they bring out - the worse they are. The problem is, there are too many Reality shows out there. Taking up too much TV TIME!!
-
I think alot of them are ridiculous and I don't watch to many of them I do like the ones that tell of a life experience that they had and escaped the danger or the situation
-
Not really. I don't like them, I would rather play a game or even READ!!!! than have to watch reality shows
-
Not worth watching!
-
I like some reality tv like American Idol and Dancing with the stars .... but most of the rest I really don't like at all. :BangHead:
-
Yes they show us what not to do. And if we do it what the turn out is. And it also just shows us like what its like to be someone else. It gets boring just to know about your own lifestyle. Wouldnt you like to know how other people are living
-
Yes, bu tit would be better if we would have better programs...more educative and interesting ,less racism, sexism and ads.
-
Well...for the same reason most people have facebook, to see other people life
-
I tried watching some of them when they first came out but lost interest. Once in a while I might watch American Idol or Dancing With the Stars. But I rather watch the oldies but goodies!!! ;)
-
They are very educational. You witness what others are doing!
-
Nope
-
no

The only reality show I like is The Biggest Loser. I think it could benefit so many people. Some of the stories are so inspiring! I think it's worth watching if it could help you in your everyday life.
-
The only reality show I watch is "America's Got Talent". The rest of them aren't worth my time. How 'REAL' can it possibly be when you have a camera shoved in your face 24 hours a day. And really, why do I want to watch a man kill bugs on tv. Or a mean and angry chef yell and cuss at his students. It's not for me. But apparently there are lots of people that enjoy it or they wouldn't still be on tv.
-
never been interested in so called reality tv my life is enough reality for me.
-
I haven't found one yet that I would spend my time watching.
