At our old house I had a clothesline. We have a dryer in the new place we're at. I asked my husband to put up a line for me. In the Florida heat my clothes can dry in about an hour. 8) And what a money saver. Hey, I want to keep my fusion cash and not give it to the electric company. ;D

Sure do. Just washed a load yesterday and hung it up on the line. We have a dryer but in the summertime we always put it outside.

One of my childhood memories is of my mom hanging the laundry out in the back yard .....the sheets smelled so fresh.

[I love air dried laundry it reminds me of when I was a child and all the women used to air dry the laundry. You would see laundry hanging in every backyard almost everyday. I would help my mother sometime by taking it down for her. The breeze would be blowing I remember the scent of the clothes and the rustling of the trees it was wonderful. :) /quote]

I bought a brass line wrapped in vinyl from Lehman's. I'm going to use that for my new line. I would love to have this but it's too much money.

not really. only when a few pieces don't dry to good

Hardly ever. The weather is hardly ever that nice here and even if it is sunny one minute the next can be a torrential downpour. I used to have a drying rack to use in the house when we had to pay for each laundry trip but it broke and I couldn't fit all my laundry on it.

Growing up we had a clothes line and thought it was great. Wasn't able to air dry while I was living in an apartment, but am hoping to set up a clothes line now that I have a house with a back yard. May be a couple years to figure out where to put it...
-
I'm lazy and prefer a dryer but would hang them up if it was available to me just to save energy and money
-
i would love to air dry my clothes, but living in
an apartment definitely has its downfalls... that
being one of 'em.
i also remember my mom using the clothesline
in our backyard. i'm looking forward to having
my own backyard someday so that i can do the
same! even just for nostalgic reasons

I have a clothes line in the garage which is right next to our laundry room so I do hang up all my shirts and anything I don't want to shrink.

My grandmother always dryed her clothes on the line when I was little. I recently moved into a house and i have been thinking about putting up a line because its too hot to run the dryer in the summer. Plus I love the smell of clothes dryed in teh sun! Oh how it brings back so many memories from childhood!
-
I cant where I live now we live on a main busy street in city and its just not an option. I grew up with there alway being clothes on the line.
-
I have no place to hang a line, unless I hang them over the balcony of the deck. I also remember hanging clothes out on the line when I was a kid. The clothes did smell clean and fresh. That smell is not possible with a washer and dryer. The sun is known to kill certain harmful bacteria on clothes also when hung out to dry. I've hung out quilts when I was growing up in the hot sun, and it would "purify" them and make them smell fresh, without washing them.
I've hauled my laundry to the laundromat a few times in my life, so it makes me thankful for my washer and dryer in my house.

I had a clothes line out but my neighbor feeds the birds and they are always swooping down and crapping in the yard, so I stick to using the dryer!
-
I do - it saves energy and keeps the cost down, i will use the dryer if i have a lot of things i need dried fast but 9 times outta 10 i air dry. :o

My mom feeds the birds, and I wouldn't dream of hanging my clothes outside with them doing their business anywhere and everywhere. It would make life easier, but like you I'll stick with the dryer :)
-
I used to, but not anymore, my clothesline is messed up, it keeps hanging so low... the ground just doesn't hold the poles...it even has cement. Always loosen.
-
I'm lucky and mom does alot of the laundry, but when it's nice out and the wind is blowing we normally hang them out on the line.
-
I have a dryer, but we hung out clothes on a line when I was a child
-
I only air dry the clothes that does not require the dryer. Back in the days we no other choice but too air dry using the clothes line. I tell ya they sure dry quicker. Thank God for the dryer!!
-
My neighbor still does. I had a clothes line years ago but got tired of it being used to process deer.
-
I always hung out clothes when it was warm, but I now live where we are not allowed to have a clothes line. I miss the fresh smelling clothes, especially the sheets after they have been hanging in the sun.
-
:wave:not me..no line to do that
-
We used to have a clothes line. I do miss hanging out the clothes. But we have a lot of farmers here, so we don't use a clothes line. If I lives in an area without farmers, I definitely would use a clothesline. :)

I do, my dryer broke down recently so I have beed air drying them, the Jeans turn out a little stiff- any suggestions?
-
now, some clothes and my baby diapers put outside, but the house we are living is we rent, the contract that we can't dry clothes outside. so....
-
I air dry my bras to keep the wire from coming out and poking me. Gosh I hate when that happens and since then I noticed that they last a whole lot longer than they use to.I use to air dry my babies clothing too.
-
I do, it helps keep delicate fabrics and knits looking good longer.
-
We do. We are looking for all kids of ways to save money. I would like to sell the dryer, but that has been met with some opposition. We have lines in the basement as well as drying racks.
-
I was until I found a dryer that works with my rental ...But some things will still be hung to dry...if it's not raining. It rains alot here.
-
I have no choice my dryer died and we havent had the money to get a new one. I only have off work 3 ddays a week so when it rains i cant do clothes
-
Country Folks, still living life the way it used to be!
