i have always loved stephen king i don't no where he comes up with some of his books or movies but i love them
I recall a documentary on Stephen where he talks about how he came up with some of his ideas. I believe he said he owned a car he called Christine. There was also an episode of Quantum Leap where he leaped into someone who associated with a young Stephen King and showed where some of his ideas might have come from.
Me, I don't care for Stephen King movies or read his books, but I liked the movie Johnny Depp was in that someone else made from a Stephen King short story. What was it called - The Window, The Garden? They had to alter the name due to another movie title.
I read a lot of non-fiction, spirituality / self-help books. My favorite authors are Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer and Gregg Bradden.
-
I like Steven King too, although I have been recently been reading Dean Koontz.
-
JRR Tolkien. The scope of the world he created is simply massive. Best fantasy author of all time.
-
There are a few places I've seen Stephen King discuss how he gets his ideas. In the back of some of his books he will talk about it. You can tell he borrows from different mythologies (if you're a reader).
My son recently got me reading Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games Trilogy. They may be Young Adult books but they are great. The Bartimaues Series by Jonathan Stroud are good also.

-

I have to say Stephen King. I love thrillers and horror type stuff as long as it isn't too gory. Stephen King is more of a mind bender which I like. I like to say J.K Rowling but I have only ever read Harry Potter by her and although I LOVE the Harry Potter books I need to see what else she can do away from Hogwarts.
I also enjoy the twilight books and another book by Stephanie Meyers called the Host. I actually liked the The Host better than Twilight so I consider her one of my favorite authors.
-
My favorite used to be Tom Clancy. When it was all "cold war" stuff. I like Collin Dexter for mysteries. Funny, but you just reminded me that I have not read anything in a while! LOL
-
G.K. Chesterton, I don't know anyone who doesn't like the Father Brown series :)

My favorite author is VC Andrews. And yes, i know she is dead and there is a ghost writer now!
I've read the VC Andrews books. They have really gone downhill the past couple series though. Same old stories with different characters.

I have several favorite authors. My taste are very eclectic. Lora Leigh, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.D. Robb to name a few.
-
Stephen King, then Robin Cook.
-
Dean Koontz and Stephen King are my favorite authors. I have read most Dean Koontz books, but I have only read 4 Stephen King novels. Stephen King is much darker and Koontz usually is more inclined to have an uplifting message. Very different authors and not sure who my favorite is at this time.

Wow, ONE favorite... that's hard. I'm a big fan of Patterson, King, Cook, Kuntz, and about a dozen others, but if I had to pick just one, I'd probably put the names in a hat and draw out just one. OK, I'll take Stephen King.
-

J K Rowling, V C Andrews, Mark Twain
-
I've read books by many various writers, so I can't really choose a favorite in that respect. However, if I go in a different direction then I would have to say.... Dr. Seuss!! ;D

I'm a Marion Zimmer Bradley fan. She has written books such as Mists of Avalon and the Darkover Series. Lately I've been reading some of her other work that is written in more modern times. I really like her writing. Great historical research which is usually included in maps or tables at the beginning of her books. It's nice to know what parts of the books are fictitious and what is historical fact. She was a wonderful writer.
-
I like Vince Flynn, John Grisham and any really good mystery writer.
