You can go to the corner store and buy a brown bag full of snacks for 1 buck.

i don't think the corner stores around here ever had those prices, but i remember a candy/corner store we went to when I was a kid that I didn't spend my entire allowance but felt like I had gotten a lot. oh the things my son will never experience.

Those were the days! I remember when I was a kid a rode my bike down to Mott's and spent my allowance on candy, games, and comics. My parents' had no problem letting me do this. Nowadays kids can't do this because of child predators and high prices. I sure miss the good old days!

I remember back in the day when I was a little kid I didn't have to worry about paying bills and providing for my family.

I remember when my uncle would give the 8 of us one $5 bill and we would all come out with a sack of candy and a chocolate soda.

I remember when if a guy came to visit his girl he would dress in a shirt and a nice pair of slacks. (no sneakers) He would wear cologne and protect and defend her instead of using very nasty terms to describe her. The guy paid for the date and considered it disrespectful of his manhood if the woman even offered. Those were the days.

I remember very cheap gas. I remember walking to the corner grocery store or dime store. As a tween, I remember going off on my bike for a good part of the day and my parents never worrying about me.
-
I remember when children always addressed all adults with Yes Mam and No mam OR Yes Sir and No Sir. Also whatever Mama cooked was what we ate OR you didn't eat. I remember when the PARENTS RAN THINGS and NOT the CHILDREN or the DOGS and CATS.

gum *bleep* cost a penny.....you could go to the bakery with 35 cents and get a loaf of bread.

I remember the first school I went to in 1947, we had one room, one teacher and 8 grades. And a pot bellied stove to heat with and an out house when we had to go. And oh yeah, you could buy a sack full of candy with 25 Cents when the snack truck came around. Those were the good old days. Kids now a days would never understand.

I remember when we did not have computers. Oh man, how did we survive?

I remember dollar night at the movies. Sometimes we could even get a free drink with our ticket! Now it can 6-40 bux just to walk thru the door. For many reasons going to the movies isn't as fun as it used to be.

I remember when you could let your kid's play outside not worry some one would try to pick them up.
-
I remember my parents setting up a video camera to tape a show on TV (antenna only channels) to watch later (no dvr or recording feature on the vcr). I remember waiting for a song to come on the radio so I could record it on a cassette. I remember when cartoons were only on Saturday mornings. I remember researching for a paper in the library and writing it by hand. I remember not knowing who is calling before answering the phone. I remember having a large satellite dish that you had to manually put in coordinates to see the channel and had to play with it for hours just to find one or two channels.
I know I'm not an old timer but a lot still has changed even from then. I'm only 26.
