At least for me, He is absolutely clueless! After feeding my daughter, I asked him to hold her so I can use the restroom and stretch my legs, well I come back in the room and he's trying to feed her again, I mean okay if she crys it doesnt mean shes hungry stuffing our child wont make her quiet. :BangHead:
God men are ridiculous.

Cut him a little slack. No one is born knowing what to do with a newborn. He may have never been around babies and this is his first experience. Get him some books so he can read up on it. Be thankful you have a husband that choose to stay and didn't run out on you leaving you to care for a child by yourself.

those instincts dont come to them naturally as it does us women.

I think they need loud and plain instructions, I am going to the bathroom, please do not give anything else to eat to the baby as it will make the baby sick, with husbands and newborns, we must get detailed, and then check them to make sure they are actually listening and not nodding off in dream land. :female: :male: ???

clueless is a good word.

just give instruction, husbands are there to help, sheesh.

My husband is pretty good with the babies. I'll keep him. ;D Our babies have all been pretty good though. You can usually tell what they need by the type of cry.

because most men don't have a clue.

So are women who seem to think they know everything about parenting. Instead of looking at it like he's done something wrong, look at it like something you two can work on together.

I'll give him kudos for trying. He was trying to figure it out and not just letting her scream in his arms or on the couch next to him or something so at least the intention was there even if he didn't think about the fact that you had JUST fed her and she probably wasn't hungry.
My advice (and I know it's hard because you are tired and annoyed and probably feeling like he's not doing everything that you want him to do) is to cut him a little slack and tell him EXACTLY what it is that you need/want from him. Communication is key here and getting snippy is only going to lead to bad feelings, him not wanting to do anything, more bad feelings etc.
Good Luck! And congrats on your daughter!

Both of you need to go to parenting classes whether you think you do or not. It will help you both and the communication between you both will improve concerning your daughter.
