Title: cooking for one
Post by: tjshorty on August 18, 2011, 03:25:01 pm
I think is one of the hardest things to get used to.  Four people live here but two of them arent here to eat and one is recovering from cancer treatments and very limited to what he can eat right now.  So it's just me.   I think that I do cook enough for everyone, but they just don't eat here anymore.  I could get used to this.

I agree with you - because when cooking for a group of people it's much easier.

that has to be nice when it comes to
the grocery bill though  but i know
what you mean. it almost feels like a waste when
you want a really good meal and nobody to share
it with!

you end up with the leftovers that you can eat
the next day though, so sometimes it works
out for ya.

It is hard to cook for just one person. You have to plan out your meals and freeze leftovers often to make sure they don't go to waste. It means a lot less cooking in general and being more creative with your leftovers. I'm glad I don't cook for one anymore.

I had been cooking for 1 for 3 years, believe me  it is less stressful, because you cook and eat what you want and not necessarily waht someone else wants. I try to switch up my cooking ,but most of the time it's a 1 pot dish or a vegetable soup and salad :angel11:

Anytime that I'm alone to eat I have a hard time cooking a "meal".  I will just make a sandwhich or eat a frozen meal.  I love to cook, but cooking for one is a lot harder then for a group.

Well, it is only my husband and I and it's hard cooking for two so I know it's hard cooking for one.  Enjoy.

I didn't find it hard at all.  I know how much I can eat so I don't make a lot unless I want leftovers.  I don't mind eating left overs for days.  I can always take leftovers to eat for lunch at work.

I cook for one and have a lot of planedovers.  I may make four servings and put three away to eat on and off for a few days.
