when your doing dishes, do you leave the water running? something else that makes me BONKERS :BangHead:.....I dont have a dish washer!!....hmmm sorry if I already made a topic of this one.
-
No, I'm too stingy to do that!

No, I'm too stingy to do that!
I am as well but you would be surprised how many i've seen doing it grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lol
-
no way! not only is water expensive, it should never be wasted.
-
I have a dishwasher, But with the few dishes that i do by hand, I rinse them all at the same time so as to not waste too much water
-
I hate that sound. The sound of the water running when no one is using it. It's like hearing my money go down the drain. It makes me want to scream. It's so annoying. I think it's the waste that gets to me. Stop the waste!
-
lol...i try not to......saves energy/money for sure.....
-
only to fill the sink and when i'm washing the dishes off otherwise no
-
only if I'm doing an assembly line of dishes right after the other, but other than that no. I don't like to waste water/energy.
-
I leave it on but only because I rinse them off, it's not on for very long. I turn the water off when I do other things like brushing my teeth, etc...
-
I leave the water on only when rinsing off the dishes, otherwise I leave the water off.
-
No, I never leave the water running. Do you know how much money you will be losing if you leave the water running? I suggest you don't do it.
-
i live in an apartment complex and do not have
a water bill. i wash the dishes with the water running
because our sink is not divided, so soaking them is
just annoying because i have to rinse them off anyway.
we're moving and will have a water bill soon, however.
but we don't have a washer/dryer, so... i'm expecting
the water bill to be fairly cheap. :dontknow:
-
I leave the water running. I do not pay for water (Well) so it's my water and how long I feel like leaving it run is my business. I leave it running to brush my teeth also. How do you water your lawn if you don't leave the water running? Wash your hair or take a shower? It would seem redundant if you had a sink of dishes to rinse off to go in the dishwasher to turn the water off and on after each dish. Easier to leave the water running and do each one, then into the dishwasher they go one by one.
If I had a water meter and/or had to pay for water, I may do it differently.
-
the only reason to leaving the water running is to prevent frozen pipes
-
I don't run my water any more than I have to. My water bill is too high as it is then they recently added some other fee to it. sometime I wish I still used my well.
-
I leave water in my sink for just rinsing to load the dishwasher, then anything I don't put in dishwasher is washed with clean water. Anyone who isn't paying for their own water usage probably doesn't think much about how much they are wasting, I didn't when I didn't have to pay for my water. :sad1:
-
nope. Home Depot has many shower heads and faucets that help save on water. It cost a lot at first but it is worth the investment.
-
I try to never let the water run because I constantly hear about what a waste it is. Like when your brushing your teeth for example. You can always conserve by turning off the faucet when running water isn't necessary in the moment.
-
I leave my water running while doing the dishes however I try my best to do them within 10 minutes. The way I see it is even if you fill the sink you still have to rinse the soap off anyway, turning it off and on over and over is just as time consuming.
-
no.... i pay for water by the gallons.
-
I only leave the water running (when doing dishes) when I am either rinsing or filling up the dishpan. Even though we have a well, we are still pretty careful most of the time.

Water is a quickly renewable source (remember your science lessons?). If someone owns their own water rights and Well, then who is to dictate or regulate the volume of water they use? This is the same kind of thinking that if a person doesn't have what the other person possesses, then they think they have the right to inflict the same rules and regs. they are under.......not so. When I use my water, I do not think of wasting anything. It's mine. I own the rights and the Well.
If someone rented or bought their home to where they put themselves in a position to pay for their water, then that was their choice with the limitations that came with it. I did not, so to say everybody has to adhere to the same agenda is absurd.

Ya know in addition to what I had posted above about my own consumption. I also have a rental property, where I pay the HOA fee (not my renters) for water/sewage/trash/grounds maintenance etc. anyway it is an example like that, I put myself in the position of knowing I would have to pay a flat fee even though I may not consume that amount in those items. So yes I agree with you it is a the decision you made when you either purchased/rented/obtained your property/land.
-
really i do not even though where i am staying at i do not pay for the water bill.
-
I don't try to be really stingy but I don't waste water just to waste it. Sure I do dishes and leave the water running because I am using the water. If I stopped doing dishes I would turn off the water. Sometimes I am using it to fill dishes to soak and sometimes I am rinsing off or washing the dishes but I am using the water. I don't know where all of you live but water is pretty darn cheap hear it falls out of the sky 9 months of the year. I also water my plants by hand and don't leave a sprinkler out for hours. I bet that also wastes a lot of water. I'll keep my habit.
-
No i turn the water off when I wash dishes. Although I have a dish washer so its very rare that i wash mine by hand.
-
I only leave the water running for the time that I need it
-
I use to leave the water running when washing dishes but now that I'm such a tight wad I don't leave it running. I make water and rinsing after the rinsing sink is full.
-
sometimes i do sometimes i don't ... when i'm "concious" and not on automatic i turn it off ...
-
I leave the water running most of the time while I'm taking a shower. I know I should get one of those showerheads where you can easily turn the water off with just a twist or something>> I have yet to do it, lol. Saving money is what you're doing when you conserve energy be it water or electricity.
