Do you think people get married for other reason than love?If so what?

Of course. There still cultures that practice arranged marriage. Some people marry for money or power. Some people marry for convenience or companionship. Sometimes people feel pressured into marriage. :peace:

Some marry to get away from their parents

Of course. Love=marriage is still a fairly new concept in human evolution. People got married for lots of other reasons. Marriage was a business arrangement. I was about money, power, protection, anything but love. Look at all the royal families throughout history. King Tut married his own sister. You think that was for love?

I just read the biography of Cleopatra and learned that her parents were likely brother and sister. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that one.

Some people do get married for other reason than love. One person in that realtionship might not know it but maybe due to financial reasons. I know some people get married to be able to be a citizen for this country. Another reason security. I believe a marriage should be because a mutual loving feeling between two people.

Like: someone to cook and clean, do the laundry. money support. Thats just my opinion

Yeah I actually know of a few people who got married because they wanted their parents/relatives to stop asking "so when are you going to settle down"? Not a good idea if you ask me.

well people marry for many of different reasons now a days! arranged marriages, marry for money or power and land, marry for convience or companionship, or because of childern. :star:

Now a days people get married for a variety of reasons. Some people marry for immigration purposes in order to gain legal status in the USA. Some people marry for financial stability and power. In some countries there are people that marry thru arranged marriages and there are others that marry just for companionship so they won't end up alone. It is very rare that you find someone that truly ends up marrying the one that they love but there are still people that do marry just based on pure love.

When you consider the rest of the world, I would say many marriages are based on many more things than love. Reading this board tells me that it is not love that drives people: it is
1. Sex
2. Accidental pregnancy
3. Immigration
4. Money
5. Games
6. Arranged marriage
7. They grew up in a family that considers it bad not to get married so they marry to avoid shame from peers and theirs family
8. Insurance scam
10. To get pregnant

The main reason I think people get married besides for love is money, in one way or another. Arranged marriages usually had something to do with social status, which always leads back to money. People who are too poor on their own may get married to benefit from a combined income. Even a girl who gets pregnant wants to know her and her child are financially secure, so money comes up once again. There are usually other reasons, but money is most likely always one of them. A bit sad, but true.
