Title: Should All Races, Gays And Lebians Be Taught To Children In School?

 :dontknow: I'm not sure but, childlren should be taught the history of each race to be able to understand how they think, do the things they do and way they live the way they do.

You ask what could be a very heated question.  Races are already included in curriculums - which is important as students should learn about theirs, others, and how it all takes place in our ancestry and history.  As for the others, they are lifestyles, of which there is still much controversy and discussions tend to spark up when brought up.

Absolutely!  Children are living in a very diverse world with contributions from all areas of diversity.  If we are going to educate children about the world in which they live we must include it all.

last i knew they for the most part do the same things we all do. they work, go to school, pay bills, eat, sleep, fall in love, marry, have kids, get sick, die etc. what differences would be taught to them.

races - yes, i think that should be (and normally does)
go along with social studies, history, and sociology.

genders (gays/lesbians) - i don't ever remember learning
about the straight lifestyle in school, except in home
economics, which was an elective class and not mandatory.

in my opinion, the only appropriate place for gender to be
spotlighted would be sex ed. it's not going away, so
integrating doesn't sound crazy to me  :dontknow:

To be completely honest, the way the education system handles AMERICAN history, I don't have much faith that they'd get OTHER COUNTRIES right.

I was taught a bit of a biased history and it's come back to bite me in the arz many times.

so true!
according to the textbooks, we did just about everything right,
treated just about everyone the same, and of course we
walked on the moon. but we won't open that can of worms  :P

The more important topic is the quality of education, rather than the focus of it.
The public school system is crap, and has only gotten worse.
Unions have taken hold and we all saw what that did to the car industry.
