My brother was diagnosed with lung cancer about eight years ago.  He had surgery and it was completely removed.  However, it had metasticized to the brain.  He then had brain surgery and, again, it was completely removed.  I have done a lot of research online, and I think that is probably a good placed to get answers to your questions.  Usually, the first step for diagnosis is a chest x-ray.  There are so many tests that are used, depending on the circumstances.  I would say start with research online, and, armed with the information you have found, see a doctor.

I do not have detailed information on lung cancer but it is the number one killer cancer. From word of mouth Cancer Center of American can provide valuable information.

I've lost Two uncles and an aunt to lung cancer. None smoked or lived with anyone who smoked.
Of course, cancer still has no definitive causes, only chances increases.
And of course research into anti pregnancy solutions is far more profitable.

I hope everything is okay with you.  My mother (65) have cancer, the doctor took a large mass out of her chest this July.  That was the same day my mother had to get a triple bypass done.   Now she has to get Kemo 5x a week.  My prayers are with you and please pray for us as well.

My father in law had lung cancer. I am not sure what testing they did to find it but they used a little robot type thing to go inside and remove it. He should be on kemo but thinks he is too old and not healthy enough for it.  :(
