Title: when do you usually put up your christmas tree?
Post by: munitono on December 01, 2011, 12:20:38 pm
I'm wondering when you FusionCashers usually put up your Christmas tree and put it away. I'm from Japan so I don't have family traditions and such. Because Christmas there is completely different and it's like Valentine's day here.

My husband doesn't want me to put up our Christmas tree until it's at least December. It is snowy (and windy) today here in Colorado and my daughter has a little bit of cold (and it's December!) so it is a perfect day for me to put up our tree so I just did it. I usually put it away right after Christmas.
How about you guys? :peace:

We usually put our tree up on Thanksgiving night, or the next day if we're too full and tired.  hehe  We'll usually end up putting it away sometime in January.

I usually put up our artificial tree the day or two after Thanksgiving. If it were real, I would wait so that it doesn't get dried out and become a fire hazard.

Typically, getting a tree was cutting into the gifts, so we never got one. I've helped decorate my fair share and usually, my friends and other family would put it up around the beginning of December.

Our family had Christmas early this year! Some our relatives live in states where the snow is horrible during December. So, to be on the safe side we had one of our three Christmases on November 23, my dad out out the tree on November 22.  ::) It was kind of fun for a change. The cats loved knocking the tree over and over again.

Well usally I put my Christmas Tree up on Thanksgiving day. My grandfather started it. He passed in Aug. 5, 1995. I still try to keep that part of him with me allways. Thats also why Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday. He always knew how to get all of the family togther on that day.

It has always been a tradition in my family to put the Christmus tree up Thanksgiving evening. When all the family is together and we get into the Christmas spirit :) Then it comes down on New years day ...

I put up a pathetic little Charlie Brown Christmas tree yesterday.  It has sentimental ornaments on it from when my children were young and creative.   I also hung up some mistletoe and I have some little fake poinsettias that a friend gave me.  That might be as good as it gets...for this Christmas.

Oh...and...we had our first snow storm today.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Growing up, my family always dug out the Christmas decos the night of Thanksgiving. My late father was notorious about buying a "live" tree every year.
Now I have a couple of trees with lights already attached & ready to fluff! They go up the day of Thanksgiving. (If my kids were in charge, the trees would go up in July!  :D)

We usually put the Christmas tree up the first weekend after Thanksgiving, and we used to leave it up for quite awhile, until around my birthday at the end of February, but having naughty cats changed that tradition. And so now we take it down a lot sooner.

I don't know that we have ever put up a tree the same time as previous years. I really don't pay much attention to when it goes up either, but I know it's usually not until maybe the last week of November or the first week of December. Still have not set one up yet this year, but then again it is only the 3rd.

I love to put up my tree as quickly as possible after Thanksgiving but the exact day varies every year depending on my schedule.  This year I am doing it today.  I love seeing the tree and lights.  It brightens my spirits.

I have an artificial tree and put it up every year the weekend of Thanksgiving.  I have a lot of decorations that take a full day to put out.  Since it takes so much time and energy I like them to be up for quite awhile.  I usually wait until the New Year to take them down.   I love the house to feel like Christmas as the kids anticipate it's coming.

Me and my girlfriend are actually going to put our Christmas tree up this evening.  We wanted to put it up a little earlier but got too busy so thank God it's the weekend. We'll probably take our tree down a little after the new years.

I am always late for putting up my lights! I think that the traditional answer is the day after Thanksgiving...or that weekend but we were in the mountains skiing for the first time in two years (broken foot last year).  I worked three twelve hour shifts last week prior to skiing and ten hour shifts this week but we got hit with six inches of snow this morning so putting the lights up, outside, is somewhat out of the question.  I hope that we get another spate of good weather!

There is a station that plays christmas music starting Nov. 1.  I think that's crazy.  I start putting up christmas decorations, wreaths etc. the weekend after Thanksgiving.  In this way I can put up a little at time rather than rushing at the last minute.  I start taking everything down the weekend after new years.

I normally wait a week or two after turkey day before I put it up. I think people who put it up in november are crazy lol. I like christmas decorations, but I am already sick of the tree by christmas so looking at it for two months, is just insane to me. lol
