When I was growing up, we always did family presents on Christmas Eve. After I got married, we kept Christmas Eve with my family, Christmas morning and stocking gifts and breakfast with my family, and then the rest of Christmas Day with his family. As my kids got married, we reserved Christmas Eve for my side of the family and they could have Christmas Day with their spouse's families.

that sounds about like my family. we're all over the place for the holidays lol. we go to my hubby's brothers house on christmas eve, christmas morning we do just our family thing. around lunch time everyone comes here for my side of the family. then in the evening we go to my hubby's extended family gathering. needless to say everyone is stuffed andddd worn out by the end of the day!
-
usually for us it is christmas day coz christmas eve is my parents anniversary WOOO HOOO 26 YEARS!!!
-
we sometimes open "ONE" present on CHRIST-mas eve and then the rest on CHRIST-mas day when everyone wakes up and we have breakfast

we sometimes open "ONE" present on CHRIST-mas eve and then the rest on CHRIST-mas day when everyone wakes up and we have breakfast
We do the same thing. Everyone can open one on Christmas Eve then Christmas day for the rest. I always love the excitement of waking up on Christmas Day and gathering around to open the presents.
-
@donnitab: yeah me to i always tried to get my mom to let me save atleast one or a couple to open later because i just love the feeling of opening presents even though im 23 lol but she always told me no lol i had to open them all right now
-
My younger brother comes over with his family for christmas eve so we unwrap the presents from him and vis versa then but the presents for and to everyone else (i.e. gifts to my parents, them from me) we do on Christmas day. In that case I guess you could say we do both.
-
My mom always told us that it was cheating to open a present on Christmas Eve...so we had to wait til Christmas day...but I guess we paid her back because we'd wake her up every 20 minutes starting at 5am to open our presents ;D
-
That sounds like my father's side of our family. We do the same thing. I somewhat prefer it that way
-
Neither one. Any gifting is done on winter solstice, thus removing xmyth from the holiday.
-
We always open presents on Christmas Day. My son and his family open present with his wife family on Christmas eve and then they come over to his family house (me) and open present on Christmas day.
-
Christmas day. When I was little my parents let me open one the night before, and I might do the same thing with my kids if I have any one day.
-
Christmas Eve is the way to go...you gotta make room for Santa!!!
-
When I was growing up we did ours when my dad felt like it. lol. We took off Christmas Eve to travel 4 hours out of our way to met up with my dad's side of the family and open them that night then travel home on Christmas Day. So we always had our immediate family sometime earlier that week. Then sometime in January we get together with my mother's side of the family.
-
we used to open 1 fift each on Christmas Eve! and the rest on Christmas Day...but now we started to open more on Christmas Eve
-
When I was younger; it was always 1 gift on Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas Day. Now that I am older and have no children/ hubby and I celebrate christmas whenever!
-
Christmas Day at 12::00am is the time we open our present not before. This year I will have to go to work 1:00am to 9:00am on Christmas Day, the only good thing is that I do get paid time and a half.

We open our gifts on Christmas Eve.
When we were little, our Sunday School program was on Christmas Eve. We would go to that and when we got home, there would be presents under the tree.
We have continued the Christmas Eve tradition with our kids.
-
Growing up, Santa always came to our house early because we were always out of town for Christmas. Now, we go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve and to my parents' for Christmas day.
-
My presents were giving out early christmas morning at 12 am so I didn't have to wait that long...I don't see why people give out presents on christmas eve it kinda ruins the christmas tradition.
-
WE USELY OPEN ONE GIFTED FOR CHRISTMAS EVE BUT SOMETIMES WE WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS. I GET HAPPY EVERYTIME THIS DAY COMES  MY DOG EVEN GETS HAPPY LOLZ
-
I agree with "bossladynelly". One gift on Christmas Eve (just to keep the anticipation at high level) and the rest on Christmas morning over a cup of hot chocolate and (Santa's) cookies!
-
We always did our stockings on Christmas Eve and then all the rest on Christmas day and we weren't allowed to wake anyone up until at least 8 am! When we were really little probably under 8 years old, that was the rule and we could go and see what had been left before 8 am but we had to sneak and then sneak back into bed and not get caught. As we got older 8 am worked well because we had probably been up late the night before.

We used to always get together on Christmas Eve with the whole family for presents from aunts, uncles, grandparents... And we'd get one at midnight from my parents. Then in the morning we'd get any really good stuff that we were going to get. Nowadays, since everyone is grown, we don't make such a big deal of it.

When growing up we always did our presents on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning was for stockings and Santa..after I was married we did the same thing except now we went to the in laws for Christmas day and had another Christmas with presents, it was wonderful...
-
My family always did christmas eve - it's a scandanavian thing. My husband always did morning so now we do some both.
-
That is actually a really good idea for extended family. When I was little we opened one gift on Christmas Eve and then did the rest on Christmas Day. I have kept that tradition with my children.
-
Christmas day in the morning even though I always wanted to open them as soon as I could. I remember once tearing the wrapping just a little to see what one of my presents was one time, but we would do it on Christmas morning couldn't stay up that long on Christmas eve to do it anyways. I was in bed by that time so I would wake up the morning of Christmas.
-
Growing up, we were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning. Now that we are all grown and scattered across the country, It depends on if we are able to visit. I went to my sister's house Thanksgiving and the kids opened their presents then. I will see my Dad this weekend and exchange gifts, my son and mother Christmas eve, and my husbands family Christmas day. It's not so much about a particular day anymore. It's more about the season.

WHEN I WAS GROWING UP WE WAITED UNTIL CHRISTMAS NIGHT TO OPEN GIFTS UNDER THE TREE BECAUSE LIKE MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID THAT ONCE YOU OPEN THE GIFTS CHRISTMAS WAS OVER. WE ALWAYS HAD PLENTY OF STUFF TO PLAY WITH AND COLOR AND OUR STOCKINGS WERE FULL OF TREATS AND FUN STUFF THAT WOULD KEEP US OCCUPIED UNTIL TIME TO OPEN GIFTS. YOU APPRECIATE IT MORE WHEN YOU HAVE TO WAIT.
-
Our tradition is to always open gifts on Christmas at mom and dad's house. Thankfully, my husband and I don't have to travel from place to place on Christmas.
-
Christmas day is our day. When the kids were little the tree had no presents under it on christmas eve. But when they woke up christmas morning it was full.
-
My family tradition has always been that on christmas eve the kids could wait up until midnight christmas day to open 1 present. Then christmas morning open the rmaining presents in front of the tree.
-
We have always done Christmas in the morning. But lately we've been doing one present on Christmas eve.
