We do not have oil, we dont have good education but we supposedly have the american dream? Yet most people do not own there home or have to wait 30 years to finally own !!!! What do u guys think about this?

I don't think we have much... Our culture is lacking, our government is on a downfall, and our economy leaves a lot to be desired. I think we have become too content with our current state and are just taking the easy road... Basically, even though everything is going up in smoke, we just put our head lower to the ground and pretend nothing is wrong. Maybe it's just me though :dontknow:

I believe, In America one can achieved anything in life, if you put your mind to it. This country is a land of opportunity, because one can get an education if you try hard. Make the best out of a bad situation.

They don't have locked gates at the borders, so you can move anywhere you think is better. :bs:
It's all here and available to those who want to go for it, but most people would rather just sit back and whine about how bad it is. If they think it's bad, then get off their backside and change it!

Try living in a third-world country where you aren't allowed in or out, then get back with us. Nothing beats America if you are willing to work for your dream.

We have lots of oil... we just can't drill it due to government interference. This is the same government that ruined the public education system. Waiting to buy a house you can afford? Imagine that... personal responsibility! The American Dream is alive and well... despite the best efforts of the political class and their minions efforts to destroy it.

the american dream is something in today's economy is hard to obtain, we work and never get ahead unless of course you sell drugs then you can have the american dream

I know that there are a lot of pros and cons about being a US citizen but I also try to imagine how much worse off things could be and I am glad to live where I live. Yes the economy may have drastic swing, yes the politicians can be corrupt and corporations can destroy lives with greed. However there are places that have no running water, where people die because the water they drink is tainted with bacteria. There are places where you don't get any luxuries you just struggle to survive each day. There are places where I wouldn't have freedom to choose a mate. There are places I could be bought or sold to the highest bidder. There are places where my lack of religion would mean beatings in the street. There are places surrounded by death and war on a daily basis. There are places where one can't get a decent education. There are places that don't allow rights equally to all citizens.
The US isn't perfect but there are sure a lot situations to live in and I am glad to be free, comfortable, mostly safe and secure, educated and allowed choices in my life. Sure there is better but there is also much much worse.

As Americans we have a sense of freedom. As U.S. Citizens we have benefits that many people don't experience. If you don't believe me...ask someone who is desperate...to get a green card to stay in this country. In this country we experience abundance to the point that sometimes it's taken for granted where people refuse to see what's right in front of their face.
We also have an opportunity to see that our glass is half full instead of being half empty. Get it?

What do you mean we don't have oil? Ever heard of Texas or a little state called Alaska? America certainly has oil and a lot of other natural resources.

I love america. i am able to put food on the table and keep my house even in this economy.. the one thing that we need to change is how we continue to profit from others misery..we have tv shows that are based on peoples loss (all repo shows,and the storage shows,*bleep* shows) these are based on people losing things that they have worked there lives for. and insted of trying to help the way that we offer assistance to any other people in what we deem third world. we deside to make tv shows that exploit peoples loss and label it as entertainment...so yes i love what i have as an american , but am disgusted at some things that are going on..

lol, i don't understand how people can think they're so
entitled to things! thank goodness we even HAVE
a housing market. and how many schools does your state
alone have? these resources DO EXIST... they have been
built. we as a people neglect to use these things to our
best ability because we expect them to always be here...
i can completely understand why we look like spoiled
brats to other countries :angry7:

We have the freedom to make our own choices, freedom to worship the way we want, freedom to move from one area to another, freedom to gripe and complain about everything we don't like without the fear of being imprisoned, tortured or killed. Our country has its share of problems but probably wouldn't be so bad if everyone took responsibility for their own actions in addition to lending a hand to those in need without taking from them with the other hand.

We have something that most other countries don't have, but something that does not seem to be appreciated any more: FREEDOM! But we'll lose that just because people are so lazy and brainwashed they'd rather just have the government step in and run their lives.

We still have freedom. The American dream, however, is just that - it's a dream, a fantasy, something which most people never will (and should not, in my opinion) attain.

We have our freedom! :thumbsup: We have lots of oil in Alaska and in the Gulf! :dontknow: We have seasons. :notworthy: And last but not least we have our noses in everyone elses countries! ??? :dontknow:

My son, who is 33 years old, is great for saying that few people in the United States are grateful for the life we have here. People from all over the world see the advantage of living here and do everything they can to live here. It is sometimes amazing to me that many people here can not see all of the advantages we have as Americans and instead find things to criticize. It is a way of life and living to live in gratitude. Those that do, I find, are much happier individuals and certainly more fun to be around!

America has the FREEDOM of speech which allows you sto say whatever you want about our country. You can also travel anywhere you want without a permit and you can even get an education if you want it bad enough. You could even go into politics and try to improve our country .

A lot of Americans have a lot of debt, people tend to spend money that they don't have. Americans do have a lot of stuff and 99% of what people buy they throw away within six months.

I think you're misunderstanding what the "American Dream" is... It is not to have all these luxuries, to become independently wealthy, etc. Rather, it is the ability to strive for that. The American Dream is all about freedom. We live in a place where we are all free to make our own decisions about our life and to strive (and sometimes achieve) for success in our lives. Heck, we have Amish that don't need oil and who self educate, yet they are still living the American Dream... They can live their own lives and feel successful and content in their own lives based on the ideals and lifestyle of their culture. They may not be materially successful, but they are successful in living what they'd consider blessed lives. And it is the freedom of this country that allows them to celebrate their religious values and live out their lives as they want.
