I lurve doing in-store browsing. I like to touch, smell and see the stuff with my own eyes. Internet shopping is very convenient, but it does not give me that "hands-on" feel

I prefer internet shopping, except for stuff like groceries. I don't like dealing with all theother shoppers in the stores, and waiting to check out, etc.

I use both. For example: Walmart- Explains the product online, then when you go to the store you know what you are getting.

I do a mixture of both. For example, I found a video I know my sister would like, just browsing at the thrift store. I never would have thought to buy it while shopping online. Some gifts just jump out at you when you're in a store. It makes things fun! On the other hand, I knew I wanted to buy a certain type of body lotion for my mom, so was able to use the internet to compare prices easily and buy online.

Use the store to get  feel for whatever it is, and use the internet for a better deal.
Stores also for the convient NOW factor.
Of ocurse it depends on the product.
Sometimes there is piracy to save time and money.

I love online shopping.

Today my wife mentioned she lost the charger for her Kindle, so I jumped on Ebay and got her a car charger, house charger, USB cable (charge from computer) along with a protective case and screen protector for $15 shipped free. It took me 15 minutes instead of 4 hours to drive to the Mall (plus parking) and I saved more than $15 in GAS.

On-line shopping has been my life saver this Christmas. I can usually find better deals on a website than if  went to the same store. I also love the pick up at store option. I can just go into the store and go directly to the service desk, no wandering around the store or fighting crowds, or waiting in lines. WONDERFUL!!

With my schedule and my responsibilities, I have no time to go shopping outside the home. I miss it!  :crybaby2: I do 98% of my shopping on line. I belong to certain clubs where you get cash back for shopping on line, so it's not all bad.

I do a heavy portion of my shopping online. I enjoy the convenience, ease of comparison shopping, special incentives and discounts and at least until the end of the year tax free possibilities with Amazon.

i like both, but i prefer in-store shopping.
anything you buy online from a retailer, you have to
expect to pay anywhere from $4-10 in shipping charges.
unless it's a hard to find item, i can usually find what
i'm looking for cheaper in-store.

I generally do both, but I think nearly all my purchases if not all of them last year were online.  This year...  I haven't done any shopping.  I should really get on that, huh?

I love to shop online for the variety, the convenience, and the lack of other shoppers, but I do enjoy in-store shopping for things like clothes and shoes.
I just got married in September and a good chunk of my stuff came from shopping online.

About half of my Christmas shopping this year has also been online.

For instance, my sister-in-law really wanted these slippers for Christmas, but the store was out in her size. So when my husband and I got home, we jumped online and ordered her a pair!
So convenient!

It depends. If I had more income, sometimes I would prefer to shop online, especially since I've done it in the past. Right now, I do most of my shopping in stores.

Did most of my shopping online this year, but I ended up having a lot of trouble. A few things ended up being out of stock and I didn't find out until the other day, and two items were shipped wrong. Never had so much trouble :(

I use amazon a lot and love it.  I also pick up a good deal at walmart.com sometimes and pick up at the store.  I like being able to read online reviews and then compare prices between retailers without leaving my house.  One thing I learned though, check price at store "walmart" before buying online.  Sometimes the store price is lower than the online price.

I think both have their benefits depending on what your shopping for. It can be fast and easy to shop online if you know exactly what you want and no worries about crowds or the store not having it when you get there. I do like to go to the stores sometimes and just walk around too cuz you never know what you'll find. Good luck shopping

I really dislike shopping. For some thing I try to do online but for clothes you kind of have no choice but to go in store becasue you can be more sure that way. But I still do research for clothing online.

It depends on what I'm buying.  Clothing since there can be a lot of variation with sizing, I like to buy in person.  Items that I need to to handle, try out, I will buy in store (electronics, appliances).  I will buy books, order refills, records on line. :icon_rr:

I like to look online to get ideas or to comparison shop.  But in the end I almost ALWAYS buy at an actual store.  I use the internet for the tool, the knowledge.  Then I feel like I'm making a good purchase, etc when I'm in a store.  The return policies, etc, are just better when you buy at a physical place.  And too often I'm afraid that the picture online just isn't enough to really describe what I'm getting.

at christmas time i like doing the online shopping because of the crowded stores and parking lots, but usually i love shopping so it dosent bother me to go shopping in fact if im down in the dumps that day a little shopping makes me feel better.
Title: Re: internet or in store shopping
Post by: DeliriousKris on February 01, 2012, 01:10:52 pm
There are some things you can get away with buying online, but others you really do have to get at a physical store.

I'm in the process of shopping for a new purse, and I'm looking online to see the styles I like, but I don't want to buy one online because I don't know exactly what it looks like. Pictures don't give all the details, or the exact size (unless shown with a model) or all the little zippers and pockets, or what it feels like.

Sometimes though, if you find something you love and a store is out of stock, you can buy it from the website, which has come in handy for me many a time.

I personally like to do my shopping in a store where I can actually see what I want or need in person. sometimes, I will shop online as well. I'm glad I work at a store where I can get discounts. Its just too bad I don't get paid very much. so many things I like to get and not enough money to do so.

I love to go shopping in a store when I do not have my kids with me. I might be willing to take 1 child with me. It seems I forget stuff and do not notice what I should when I take the kids. So, it's better to buy online sometimes.

I've come, in my dotage, to shop less in stores for so many reasons. The hassle of getting to a store, parking in a safe place and then finding the stores so overrun with merchandise, rude people and unhelpful sales persons has made online shopping my preference. I still do grocery shopping but that is about all.

Title: Re: internet or in store shopping

It REALLY depends. There are so many things that are only available online and are only available in store. Sometimes online price is LOWER than store price, so going with online works better. If you have to buy online, go to trusted sites like amazon, walmart, target, and other popular stores. But it's always better to know what you are buying before you purchase it by visiting the store.

I like to internet shop in the store.  For example, use your cell to surf for deals while you're inside of Walmart, find a better deal than what is in store, bookmark the better deals, show them at the register and use Walmart's best buy guarantee get you the best deals all under one roof.
