They get crazy for the wave. They do spot checks daily on swells and the tide. They get ancy when the water is calm. They get happy when its not. Do they surf because they can. Is it exercise for some and just that. Is it an addiction and so what is the addiction. Is the addiction chemical made in the brain? Is it a sport. who knows the answers. :star:

Why did you put this question in Payments? Do you realize there ARE other sections to the Forum? I ask because you continue to put things under the wrong category (all the new topics you have started in Payments since you joined is the best example) for discussing them and you have [certainly] been here long enough now to know better. :(
People surf because they want to and they are able to. What's your 'reason' for all the misplaced topics you start?

Why do snowboarders snowboard? Why do skaters skate?
People enjoy doing what they enjoy doing. No one reason is going to cover every single person.

for the same reason bikers, bike; runners, run; swimmers, swim;for the love of the sport.

8) I was born raised and still live about 30 minutes from the Ocean, don't get why people surf and don't get why people go out in the ocean period. Its beautiful and I love looking at it but I don't take chances with sharks and the like. A matter of preference I guess and surfers are like other thrill junkies and sports enthusiasts. Go far it if its your thing.

Surfers surf because sometimes you eat the wave and other times, the wave eats you. It's a metaphor for life. Hang nine.
