Title: Netflix?
Post by: meyerkendra on January 21, 2012, 06:08:56 pm
I was just wondering who has netflix and does it work well on your computer. I am talking about using the video on demand movies not the mail to your house movies. I recently started to use it and I am having problems with it. What do you think the minimum speed is that you should have for watching netflix on demand??

I have Netflix; it always worked fine on the lowest tier internet we had from AT&T (3 mbps max, averaged 1 mbps).

i have netflix (i'm actually streaming Black Dahlia right now) and i noticed that you either have to have a super new/fast computer or super fast internet. i used to have an old dell laptop and dial-up and could not watch anything on netflix but once i got my new laptop (gateway NV78) the streaming worked fine. of course, then i upgraded to high-speed and now i can stream a movie on one half of my screen and play farmville on the other without any skips or lagging :)

I have Netflix and I stream it to my netbook and my smartphone. With my Netbook, it's generally seamless (unless my brother is sucking up the bandwidth with his games). On my phone, when I'm connected to wifi it streams seamlessly as well. I have no use for cable anymore because I either watch Netflix, or stream the shows I want to watch from the channel's site online.

We have basic cable internet and netflix is usually pretty good at streaming for us. Occassionally it buffers a little, but almost never have that issue.

I have netflix.  I've been a member for a couple of years now.  I was never able to watch video's on my pc. When the price went up I put my account on suspension.  I just reactivated it this last month. Just this past weekend I clicked the wrong button when I was going to stream a movie to our wii and the movie started to play on my pc.  Since I've reactivated I only do the streaming - no dvd rentals right now.  And the selection for my husband is very poor (He's seen everything) But for me and the kids it's great.  We're thinking about switching to Blockbuster.

I have had Netflix for years. We only do the streaming. Some buffering issues - usually on the weekends at night. We have DSL, but a slower connection. If you have an iPhone you can stream from your phone with their app. I rarely have issues with that.

I use netflix on our Apple TV and it works great.  We do have issues sometimes, one of the big ones being the voices do not always match with the actors lips moving which drives me crazy!!!  If you are having an issue I would contact them and let them know.  they have excellent customer service.

I stream Netflix on my pc. We have AT&T for the internet. I find if I use Google Chrome I don't have too many problems with picture quality and the streaming process.

I love Netflix, I use it on my Bluray player, my computer, and my tablet. It's the best $7.99 I spend each month. :)

I have cable internet and it works fine (other than the fact that our router sometimes restarts and causes playback issues). As for slower internet connections I would say DSL will probably work (know someone who uses DSL without any problems) but if you have dial-up it really won't be worth it and you may have to have very long loading times.

I have netflix through my xbox 360 and I absolutely love it. There's so many things to choose from on it. When I finally find an apartment to move into I'm not bothering with cable lol. I don't know about using it on the computer because I just watch it through the 360 but I have Charter high speed internet and it works great.

I've had Netflix off and on over the years and have always been pleased with it. Never received a damaged DVD. Also, I believe their trial program is VERY generous.

I have been a netflix customer for a few years. I use it only for movies....no streamlining.

Yes you can. :) I downloaded the Netflix app from the Android Marketplace (its free). Then, I just log into my Netflix account and ta-da!

i used to have netflix and yeah they are cool but unfortunately when I had to make cuts in my budget, they were the first to go.  I am actually using a free trial at the moment, but that's only on our playstation, it doesn't include mail movies.

I'm still using Netflix - I have both streaming and DVD subscription.  I have cable internet and a new Window 7 laptop that I stream to and it seems to work fine for the most part.  I tried streaming at a hotel once and had some issues - guessing it was the bandwidth allowed on the wireless internet that caused a lot of buffering issues.

Only thing with the steaming is their selection is pretty limited compared with their DVDs, however I noticed they recently added several older TV series to streaming (like A-Team, Airwolf, MacGyver) - shows I used to watch growing up, so I've been using the streaming to re-watch some of these shows to get a kick out of seeing them again.  I stick to the DVDs for newer movies - partly due to them not being available on streaming, partly because I like watching the DVD extras/commentary - and you get that with most (not all) the DVDs, but never get that on streaming.  For some movies I need to turn on subtitles to understand what's being said and streaming doesn't have that either.

Post by: noniesfusion22 on February 09, 2012, 12:26:56 pm
Hello guys,

I just enrolled the trial offer with Netflix using FC instant credit last night. How many days does it gets credited? I am using it right now. Just curious coz of all the offers this might take longer to credit. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Nonie

I have Netflix for more than 5 years now and I do not like the price change.  So instead of getting two dvds mailed to me now I have one.  My kids like to see movies on their computer and also with the Wii system.  Everybody can look at something different.

I recently got a Roku and it streams Netflix seamlessly. If you aren't familiar with Roku, it is a little box the size of a hockey puck that connects to your TV and streams through your internet router. There is so much content from TV shows to movies I probably will give up my satellite. I think this is the future of TV and movies. If you have Amazon super-saver $79/year you not only get free shipping but also free access to Amazon movies. My daughter also downloads books free to her Kindle. I love all the documentaries and world news programming I get with Roku too.
