which one is better cable or satelite?
-
Satellite is better if you only watch TV but cable has much better options for internet and phone most of the time. I used to pay 60 a month for DirecTV and was happy with my package and service. But then I moved and satellite wasn't an option. I now have Charter cable and internet (18Mb service) and only pay 71 a month...not bad either way.
-
I used to have cable when I was a kid, I only watched a few channels such as Disney and Nickelodeon at the time. Now that I'm older I prefer having a bigger selection of what to watch. We had Dish Network last year and that was pretty awesome, but it got expensive after the six months were up. The AMC channel, at least I think that's what it was called, was awesome since there was always a movie on.
-
Cable is better for one simple reason. Thunderstorms. The old antenna was like a lightning rod when it came to thunderstoms and we had to shut the tv whenever there was one. When we switched to cable we could watch right through a thunderstorm. Blackouts were anothing thing but one could watch tv if there weren't any. You get a satelite it's the same like an antenna. You have to shut the tv during a storm. My brother's friend had satelite and was sorry because they are just as lethal as having an antenna.
-
CABLE is better. My family just switched from cable to satalite, and we're soon switching back! especially if you need to watch a WEATHER channel during a storm, We never know whats coming at us if there's clouds.
-
Personally I haveneither. I watch all the free movies I want on my pc. There's some good stuff out there and it costs nothing
-
Cable is much better, it cost more and less channels but when we had satellite it would go out during every little storm :BangHead:
-
i'm going to have to say cable that being because i have never had satelite in my life, lol. plus if you get tw you can get on demand which is awesome imo
-
cable....
-
When our cable channel started charging $70.+ a month for what they called an expanded basic which gave you about 10 or so extra channels besides the ones you could actually get over the air for free..so we decided it was enough. We got the indoor antenna and converter box and picked up several new channels that we just love. We also hooked up our p/c to the tv and can pick up many other programs and movies without that extra $70 charge.
-
I prefer satellite, but that's just what I am used to.
-
I think cable. I use cable for all my life now and love all the channels I have so far.
-
We had basic cable for internet only, no tv, the bill kept changing every month upward and it was local or federal taxes. We went from Satelite to fiber optic. The bill was fine for six months then it went up to 100 per month for just the television portion. We went back to Satelite. If you can get Satelite, I would go with it.
-
cable tv
-
I have digital cable. I like it better because I get a lot of the movie packages that satellite doesn't unless you pay extra for them
-
Cable is better because satellite doesn't work in bad weather.
-
We have cable but my husband wants satellite so he can get more football channels!
-
well i really do not like satelite it stinks has been messed up since the hurricane ,my father in law refuses to call repair men
-
It is an entertainment choice and I tend to prefer cable over satelite broadcasts. The local cable company here in the DFW area does a pretty good job because there have been very few interuptions in service compared to what friends who have satelite tell me.
-
i prefer cable over satelite. one reason is when you have a snow storm (and i am from michigan, i know snow) you lose signal, you dont have that with cable. i also like getting my internet, phone and cable on one bill
-
Satelite is the best if you have lots of different tastes. Cable if you have a limited amount of channels you watch. Why?, the price for Saltelite vs Cable.
-
I think that both are good and plus you get the same channels with cable and satelite, but I think that cable is way cheaper and sometimes satelite can be too high, I guess it depends on what you get.
-
I have thinking of getting satelite because the cable price keeps going up and we loss channels witch is not right I hear Dish network is alright beyyer selection and cost less and no increase unless different package. If cable goes up again I think I might look at it harder.
-
Although I have had both in my adulthood all things considered I must say.................cable (Sorry Direct TV lol)
-
I would say that satellite is way better then cable. And one more thing. Not Dish network. Directv is the best one out there. Believe me.
-
I'd rather have cable, but it is not available where we live. so dish it is.
-
satelite stinks when the weather is bad..cable is the best
-
I have Dish Network and love it! I watch too many shows not available on the cable channels in my aarea. I think it all depends what you are willing to pay and how much you actually watch television.
-
cable
-
seriously considering cable ,problem is i have to pay to run the wire 3,000 feet down my driveway
-
We now have satellite because of the area in which we live. It is rural and there is no cable available here. We liked cable when we had it. Satellite is okay but I think it is more expensive and it goes out when we have a cloud overhang - rain, snow, fog, etc.
-
On a bad weather day satellite will not work. But satellite do have more channels.
-
Ours Hasn`t worked right since hurricane
-
I have cable just because I have a package for the cable, internet and my phone line. I hardly see the difference between them.
-
I prefer cable
-
Satellite is better than cable, the variety of channels for the the price is more affordable and the quality is the same or better than the cable one. At least that has been my experience so far I had cable before and I will not go back to it.
-
I haven't had cable in a few years but Satellite has been great. I never lose the picture (even during storms). I get all the channels I need and it is cheaper than cable.
-
Cable is better for one simple reason.
Yes, whenever there was a storm I could count on an outage from satellite.
-
Satellite I suppose.
But then again I'm not paying the bill...I'm sure it'd be a different story if I were
-
Just thinking out loud but I'd be awesome if we could pick and choose the [few] channels we normally watch per package...I'm sure that would save a lot of people a lot of money
-
Cable.
-
Cable !
-
I like cable betterbecaus ewhen the weather is bad the satellite acts up
-
Satelite... cable sucks
-
Satelite is wayyyy better then cable!!! I can't live without my satelite!! There are sooo many channels and I love Direct tv!!!
-
I have cable right know but if the price goes up again I might look into satelite allot more.
-
Personally I prefer cable as I have my services bundled (TV-Internet-Phone) for a really good price
-
which one is better cable or satelite?
cable
-
I prefer cable to satellite - mostly due to reception issues I have in my area with the satellite service. I'm near a TV station tower which interferes with a lot of signals (even my cell reception isn't the greatest). Plus with all the weather systems, satellite feeds are iffy. Some gyms I go to have satellite and during bad weather their signals are stalled ("no signal") or the picture is really broken up.
I've heard cable internet is definitely the way to go vs satellite internet (and this came from a satellite rep), but if you have good reception I would guess it's personal preference/price as to which one would choose.
-
WE have direct tv and so far so good. The other satellite company we had, it seems like every time a black cloud went over, we were out of tv. What did people do when there was no tv?
-
Like a FC member mention, cable is better because bad weather interfares with satellite.
-
I suppose cable is better but we enjoy our satellite and don't really ever have issues getting a signal during a storm. Maybe they are lethal, I really don't know...But cable in our area is a huge rip off, and they said the wires in our house are too old to have it. However, Cable internet over anything. It's faster, more reliable, and less of a hassle.
-
well im considering cable had a talk with satelite internet assoc. apparently only allowed so much time before rates increase and im online all the time! Thanks for all your input it has really helped
-
It is all relative as long as you can get the same services like channels, digital etc. I have never really seen much of a difference in general as long as we can find a company we are happy with.
-
I`m Basically back to square one it is all coming out the same,i still have dial up
-
which one is better cable or satelite?
I had satelite now I have cable. I don't see a difference. :dontknow:
-
We are on satelite as cable is so much more here, but sometimes i wonder if it is worth it. My hubby does enjoy his hunting shows though and Football. i spend a lot of time on the computer and of course it is satelite. The joys of living in a small town miles from the big cities, but wouldn't live in the big cities anymore. I am a country girl.
-
which one is better cable or satelite?
I like cable much better. It does not go out as much doing a storm. I have had both at one time or another.
-
Wow,Satelite Working Better But The fine print of the internet worries me
-
I am a cable user, and I know that there is a better satelite out there for me.
-
I Have Heard That Satelite Internet Is Slower Then Dialup
-
I prefer satellite to cable. Although both have different good things I suppose. During storms, we lose our signal where as with cable you can usually still watch t.v. without a problem. And now that televisions can't receive basic news channels without a converter thing, if you lose your satellite signal during tornado weather you can't even switch off the receiver and still follow the news on "plain" t.v. unless you have a converter. So, my family is in the dark when it comes to watching the weather during intense storms & can't even use the battery operated emergency t.v. either because of the digital switch. :BangHead:
-
Neither one is very good but I have satelite
-
I think they rate equally, but they are all too expensive. I am thinking of cancelling my satellite because the package I have simply isn't for me.
-
which one is better cable or satelite?
If I had only those 2 options I would pick cable. I have had both and weather affects satellites too often. BUT I actually choose neither one! I am a netflix girl !
-
Satellite- more channels, better picture quality usually, have reduced prices
-
I'm with the person that said neither. all because you can what mostly anything you want online for free. There are website you can what even newer movies for free. and Hulu has lifetime movies and shows for free.
-
I have digital cable. I like it better.
-
We have cable for TV and internet but I'm thinking about getting rid of the TV part because it's gotten way too expensive and seems to cost more every month. Right now, we're at $126 a month with no movie channels. We do have a western channel for my husband. The internet potion is $39.95 but will be higher if I dump the TV part but mostly we watch what used to be free TV anyway.
-
I prefer cable for the ease of use; however, I'm currently using satellite for the ease on my pocket, lol;-)
-
Cable...because every time the wind blows, it snows or one little rain drop falls on a dish it go's out.
-
cable all the way i have never had good luck with satelite
-
i think digital cable is the best .
-
I have had both and I would have to say cable is better because the weather affects the satellite too much. If it is windy or stormy etc you have no signal.
-
CABLE IS OLD SATELITE IS THE NEW THING
-
cable for us. we've had satellite, every time we got a storm it went out. wasnt worth what we were paying for it
-
I agree that cable is slower.
-
i think cable ,satelite gose out every time it rains, :BangHead:
-
during hurricane my laptop was the only resource for news and weather until it went dead
-
Satellite all the way. I love my DISH Hopper.
-
Whichever one allows for a bundled package at the best price for the longest time (right now, for me, that happens to be cable)...
-
satellite because has more sports channels
-
In my opinion satellite is better. I have my satellite, phone and internet all on one account. It's more convenient to have everything bundled into one bill. Plus I love to be able to dvr shows and movies and be able to pause rewind and fast forward my fav tv shows.
-
cable for us. we've had satellite, every time we got a storm it went out. wasnt worth what we were paying for it
I absolutely hate the fact that it goes out any time it gets a little breezy or rainy. I would definitely go with cable if they had all the channels that Dish Network has. My husband and I are hockey fans and the cable company doesn't have all the channels the games come on, which is crap, so we are stuck with losing a signal in the rain. :sad1:
-
Digital cable,by far. Use to have sattalite, but it was nothing but headahces, constantally have problems, losing siginal, picture freeze, ect. and it was way over priced. Have had cable now, for about a year and love it.
-
I love cable because when the weather is bad with satelite your tv goes out, so I rather have cable.
-
The House I Babysitt At Has Cable And I Have Satelite At Home Believe I Like Cable Better Never Any Lost Channels
-
really i like uverse tv it was tv thru my phone line... but where i live now they dont have it here so i have direct tv and its cool...
-
I had a direct tv dish awhile back and didn't care for it at all. when it rained or snowed I would lose the signal, then I would be stuck because if I was recording something I would have nothing but a blank screen. So I switch back to cable and I am Happy with my service from Charter
-
I'd say cable, only because I've have to deal with the satellite tv going out EVERY time it rained.. Such a pain! Haven't had a problem with the cable yet! So, I'm the chick singing praises for my cable company! (Also gives us super fast internet and reliable phone service, too!)
-
WHAT AM I DOING HERE THATS NOT RIGHT TRYING TO MAKE MONEY. I DO POST, DISCUSSIONS, AND ALL OTHERS. THERE ARE SEVERAL SURVEYS I HAVE COMPLETED AND AT THE END IT TELLS ME I DON'T QUALIFY. HOW DO I MAKE MONEY ON HERE ?
-
Cable is better by far. Less susceptible to weather such as heavy rain storms or snow storms.
-
With digatil TV, I don't see the need for either. I get 25 channels without paying a penny. That's good enough for someone who grew up glad to have 3 channels to choose from. Yes, there was a time when CBS, ABC, and NBC were the only options.
-
the one upside i see is the dvr recorder for satelite ,its awesome.love the timer as long as weather good
-
i like satellite but when it storms it goes out sometimes
-
i used to say cable when i was younger but with all the commercials idk.... better have a tivo or just have netflix alone...
-
now im convinced cable is better my phone is interferring with my satelite go figure
-
much rather have cable but i can only get satillite at my house
-
Guess i would much rather have cable apparently the cordless phone i bought interfers with my satelite reception
-
Cable by far is much better than Satellite.
-
Hands down CABLE. Tried satellite and there were always issues with the weather or interruptions of some sort...not to mention it was much more expensive, especially for internet...and the internet had too many limits and restrictions and was way too slow....so definitely cable for me!!
-
sattlelite is better
-
I Wish Satelite Had On Demand Then It Would Be Awesome
