It has been a while since I have been to Olive Garden, but I was just at Applebees over the weekend while I was visiting in Kansas City, MO. It was great! They have these really nifty gadgets on each table that you can read the paper, pay your bill, etc. I was eating alone and they made me feel very comfortable and of course, I really enjoy the food :wave:

The last few times we went to Applebee's-the food seemed like it had been frozen and reheated, the cheese on top of the chicken was almost like a Kraft slice that didn't melt and the service was horrible. Needless to say-we're done with Applebee's for dining.

Olive Garden's bottonless salad bowl/soup bowl is extraordinary but leaves me bloated and gasping for air as I loosen the belt from around my bloated belly! I love the Santa Fe Salad at Applebees and the portions seem more in line with reasonable. I think that the service is faster at Applebee's and is a somewhat less pretentious atmosphere...not trying to play off an Italian theme ...sticking with good old American basics. So, in conclusion, I would go with Applebeess as the restaurant that I favoe...given the choice.

But if I am going with my kids or with friends that have kids, I think Applebees is a better choice for them. My son has never been a big fan of Italian food.
